  • Rudiments are just lessons in physics and sound mechanics. Yes. Try telling my teachers that. XD

  • where do u get that kinda drum pad?

  • Wow...I haven't seen a pair of DC-10's since 1982...awesome

  • those sticks should be illegal.

  • @Haassan1 Why would you say that? Think of it this way, if you have those stick and decide you don't want them anymore, you can just give them to your girlfriend. She doesn't even have to be a drummer to use them. That's why they're multi-purpose sticks.

  • @zombiedrumma and thats exactly why those sticks shoudlnt exist.

  • @Haassan Because they can pleasure a woman and also make music? I don't see the downside.

  • @zombiedrumma Everything can potentially pleasure a woman. And if your talking about multi-purpose sticks, the same apllies for conventionel sticks.... She can use the back.

  • @Haassan1 Who cares...as long as she is pleasuring me! I spelt 'pleasuring' wrong but then I typed it the right way...proving I'm not a useless fkuc!

  • @chefshitpiece okay.... I just want to add that this discussion is probably the one I am most shamed of this year. Cant wait for 2012. Cya

  • @Haassan1 What??! What!!?? Whussa problem?!! WHy yoose has to talk all nasty like! I gots feelings too, yoose know! Just like last night when I backed the car into the garage door...me Pops starts givin me hassle about it...I was like "What the problem is, yo! Yoose can always but another!" Sheesh...what a moron!!!

  • @chefshitpiece What??! What!!?? No problem here. Messa not talk nasty. Messa not yoose nasty pops like.

Im feeling like Michael Scott... so sad.

  • @Haassan1 Dassa good! Messa give you bombast Vodka drink for yoose birthday aye boi alrighty alrighty!!!

  • @Haassan1 True.

  • Sloppy

  • He's not hitting the pad !!! :L

  • what sticks are those

  • Single Stroke Roll - forever- forever- forever

  • i want so much to follow this lesson (y)

  • IF you were a very pro, you would know that this works with wrist, not with arm

  • @pmcthegamerz its actually more fingers if u want to be really fast the whipping motion is only if u want to get big sound wth little energy and i ur right but the faster u go the more its on the fingers

  • they're timbale sticks

  • I can do double stroke rolls fine, and I can even do triple stroke rolls fine. BUT I HATE SINGLE STROKES. the worst part is, I'm usually a mallet player. X_X

  • gay

  • suck

  • check my video on the free stroke.. that is key in speed and smoothness

all drummers should know about the free stroke,,, it makes all the rudiments so much better !!! please check my videos out!!!!

  • This moves His WHOLE arm when you only move your RISKS ...THIS GUY IS A FOOL !!! DOnT LISTEN TO HIM

  • @14iAmMe

Fking hell im so bad, i don't even know what a risk is!!!

  • Curse you single stroke roll....

  • anybody who cant do this, must be a real retard

  • let ur syicks bounce dont force them into the drum pad

  • @wizkhalifaisabeast1 to be fair he's not here to show us how to hold sticks

  • U got the same sticks as me!

  • Maybe the person making this video chose a loud pad to use so that we could hear it easier and understand how proper rudiments are supposed to sound.

  • Brilliant absolutely basic rhythm. A great place for a real dummy like me to start. I didn't even know there were such things as drum practice pads

  • your using too much arm and ur holding ur sticks wrong X_X

  • @marianoishot111 well you do all the stuff this dude's doing with too much arm and holding sticks wrong.

  • damn!!! where did you possibly find this rudiment!!! probably like from tribes deep in the jungles of the fuckin Amazon I'm guessing? oh and r u fucking retarded?¿

  • I memorize rudiments faster than my math lessons :D

  • to muc arm flail for my liking. (yes i meant flail and not fail)

  • this beat so ez

  • I like all your rhytms... thank you for sharing

  • At least for me traditional grip makes it easier to get funky ghost notes on the snare and rim

as for rudiments though its tougher with traditional grip

  • @MegaDrummer420 whats the big deal about traditional i play it mostly but theirs not a better grip

  • These rudiments vids are great! Can you tell me what kind of sticks those are?

    thanks

  • Thank you for your site and for the videos :)

    Helped me a lot.

  • that's a promark TXDC10W hickory stick

  • why this kind of videos need to be disliked?

  • @simplemanbird There are already many drummers that have an amazing backbeat and sense of timing. Are you actually trying to suggest that speed is a discardable element when it comes to determining a virtuoso drummer? Because it isn't.

A great drummer is a creative person who knows his rudiments, knows his timing and has both dynamic and, yes, speed to boot. A great drummer has all of these qualities because they are necessary skills all across the board.

  • what kind of drum sticks are those?

  • @isomikieee this is PRO-MARK sticks!!!!!!

  • you need to let the stick rebound

  • @simplemanbird yeah exactly! but it CAN mean the difference between two drummers :) its one of many things that makes a good drummer

  • @simplemanbird it does matter, the fastest isnt the best but it helps

  • @simplemanbird

    But it's fun!

It's allways good being able to play faster than you play!

  • markotsi

  • uncircumcised drum sticks?

  • @zkranz0 LOL

  • LMAAOO Thaat wass My First Thought ttooo

  • @zkranz0 hahahahaha

  • @zkranz0 prettymuch

  • @zkranz0

    L OL!

  • like u guys have the BEST technique in the whole world???? quit being such an arse holl

  • REALLY BAD TECHNIQUE....

  • The movement of the stick shouldn't be realized by the wrists? I see the guy on the video moving his arms.

  • CHHOOPPPPSSSS

  • @garyteiger bad ones at that

  • @GasolineWaltz im pretty sure you cant do that

  • @werealldum. Totally true. I hate how people criticize videos for no reason. This is an instructional video for beginners and people who wanna learn!! Quit being douchers. Lol. and we already know playing fastest. Doesn't mean your the best. Or does it. I think people hate on others who can play fast. Because they cant at all. People. Quit being so rude. n btw single stroke rolls

    Are R L R L. Lol

  • Agreed my friend

  • Why is he using cut off sticks?

  • those dticks look like an uncircumcised

  • awesome! thanks!

  • @simplemanbird the drummer who has the most heart for what they do is the best :) but thats just wat i think.

  • true, being the fastest doesn't necessarily make you the best drummer groove wise, but why not become as fast as you possibly can? speed IS an attribute of great drummers as much as dynamics or feel are, there seems to be a lot of thinking amongst drummers today that speed is not a requirement if you want to be a great drummer. according to simplebirdman, 'speed doesn't matter in drums', incorrect

  • FAIL

  • what kind of sticks are those? no heads?

  • i think some people are missing the point of this clip. it's showing a SINGLE STROKE ROLL. that's it. get your technique from somewhere else if you don't like what you see

  • Well to a beginner like meh, this sounds pretty decent, please stop criticising, for it wasn't even bad. Be thankful for the demonstration itself, it's the purpose for this video. Don't try to monitor if he's doing awesome or not. If you're not a beginner, then why are you even watching this? And if you don't know what a single stroke roll is, you don't have any room to be criticising. Good luck drummers!! :D~

  • What type of Pro-Marks are those? They have no beads. What kind of advantages do these give?

  • ¿Donde puedo conseguir esas Baquetas por favor? ¿Que número son? ¿Cual es la marca? Espero su respuesta muchísimas gracias espero me puedan ayudar.. Bendiciones excelente vídeo :>)

    "Caracas, Venezuela"

  • i love drums but hate practisin this, i always start off slow and ok but as soon as i get a bit faster i always end up hittin the sticks together :@

  • @LeeBee091 yep me too

  • @simplemanbird most retarded shit ive ever heard....if your the fastest then guess what YOURE THE FASTEST no one is as fast as you

  • What kinds of sticks are those?

  • very bad. you are teaching bad. your wrist has to move and you have to avoid moving your arms

  • @drumsareinmyblood

    ? wtf.

    shut up.

u just threw that in the air.

  • If i wanna use my practice pad with a stand can i use any basic cymbal stand?

  • @simplemanbird thats like saying the most technical drummer isnt the best

thats like saying the stronger guy isnt the best

thats like saying the fastest guy isnt the best

    thats all 4th grade logic

  • @alexaxxem thats completely wrong. I'll ttell you why. Because Making music is not any of the following:

    1.A sport

    2. A race

    3. 4th Grade maths.

your wrong. now that is 4th grade logic.

  • @alexaxxem well basicly its true i mean man there are so many people on the corner of the streets without a decent technique but they have the groove man! and evryones like hey lets bob my head to this. Its just about having fun man

  • nice vid!!!

I bought a drum rudiment poster and dvd at

    DrumRudimentPoster.comx-minus the x :) it rocks!!!

  • If your looking to get really good at all rudiments, check out TheMikeFix youtube channel, it helped me out so much!

  • what kind of sticks are those or r they upside down?

  • I hate to break it to you man, but you are holding those sticks backwards.

  • @BluCosmos actually its quite common to hold a stick backwards.

  • @BluCosmos hes not holding them backwards theyre just a different type of stick, namely for pad use

  • You have boards strapped to your arms? You DO have wrists, right?

  • You'd play better if you held your sticks correctly.

  • ..i..

  • how do i get faster on my single stroke rolls?

  • practising practising practising.... Paradiddle helps and watch out how you hold your sticks!

    Do it off the coff!

    Play to music and double the speed-> 4/4, 8/8, 16/16 and maybe 32/32 (i never tried that^^)

  • i dropped my coin lol

  • WOW, is that how u do single stroke rolls? id never thought u would use both sticks <.< thought u used one finger and one toe..

  • Thank you. Very helpful.

  • Sticks?

  • stranges drumsticks

  • I'm pretty sure it doesn't say to go to poco pianissimo at the fastest speed of this rudiment.

The correct way to play it (yes there is a correct way to play a rudiment, this isn't being musical it is an exercise) is to start very slow and increase the speed evenly until at your limit.

Then the same amount of time it took you to reach maximum speed is the time it should take you to get back to the slowest speed.

    Hope that helped.

  • @AirmetalDrummer thanks man

  • meh...speed it up. loosen up. too tense. the sticks should look kinda like a pencil does when you do the rubber pencil trick.

  • we're not talking about orgasms here

  • ahahah =D

  • i can go faster than him now :3

  • my practice pad is not quiet D:

    it's a little bit noisy

  • haha ...the vid starts to blur (coz of the speed maybe) at 0:28

  • Those are DC-10's. They are more for drum corp and marching situations. They're beastly on a legato.

  • yooooooo i have that same exact table in my house.

  • Maybe it is in your house...!

  • your stick are the same as mine but the tips are really weird on yours

  • he's playing butt-end out to influence dynamics.

  • i only do single strokes at night

  • @setec1450 really? all I do is diddle XD

  • @setec1450 LOLOL good one XDD.

  • check my single strokes :)

  • If you want a complete quality PDF with the 40 rudiments go to drumwatch.wordpress(dot)com

You'll find drum music sheets. Daily updated drummers blog.

  • also the percussive arts society website is good. just google it.

  • crap site!

  • what did u call on the thing that he hit?

    i mean that circle?

  • a drum pad

  • Practice pad

  • practice pad

  • A loud one at that. Practice pads should be quiet. They should serve a dual-purpose. To develop strength in wrist and something that to practice on when it's "quiet time."

  • @ShelterDogs bleh on the filpside if u practice too much on em u get pad hands.......uggggggghhhhhhhh! =O

  • @ShelterDogs yeah i know. Year late comment. but that's not necesarily the point of drumpads to be quiet. They're just a more portable practice area. Never meant to be quiet, but most of them were. Most drummers try to get the most realisitic feeling pad...like me because we know they aren't meant to be quiet but they all are sure as hell quieter than a real drum. Not starting a fight. Just telling you that even though some people agree with you they don't know the real purpose for a pad.

  • practise pad

  • what kind of sticks are those?

  • most probbably

    Pro Mark 5A Sticks

maybe no 5As but theyre Pro Mark For Sure...

  • Not the slowest either!

  • "yup yup yup" =D

    It's "Ducky"!! >:O

  • Yup yup yup.

  • That is an accurate statement to make, but speed can always help right? It helps with coordination and fast fills... Just warning you, saying stuff like this will cause arguments for future notice.

  • Dude...no.

  • Comment removed

  • Ok, to make this clear, the title does not say "Fastest single stroke role" It just says single stroke role... the whole point is he has a series deminstrating them all

  • Where're the tips on those sticks?

  • Thank you for TRYING to help teach people to play correctly with a solid understanding of the drum rudiments. Most of us appreciate the extent you go to!

  • Thank you for your videos!!!

  • Thanks for all that videos!

  • thanks.

The man is holding the sticks properly.

  • The guy may not be the best, but at least he put all these rudiments up on here. Stop criticising and just thank him for doing it.

  • surely the 1st lesson should be "Hold the sticks properly"

  • sounded and looked sloppy. just being honest.

  • Post a better one?

  • Can't do a better one. That's why I came here, to see a nice clean example.

  • nimajnebenneb// there should be paradiddles too

  • almost broke my sticks lol.

  • Those sticks are too big. Sticks should fit comfortably in the hand.

  • And they probably do fit fine in his.

  • Otherwise they wouldnt make sticks that size.

  • All hands are different sizes.

  • They don't fit fine. You can see from the video. That is alot of why the roll isn't even. It is not to criticize. The sticks are too heavy. There's not enough control.

  • Okay.

  • Vic Firth MS4 MAGNUMs fit comfortably in my hands. (not a claim of big hands)

Plus it gives my forearms a brutal workout.

  • you gotta use arm, wrist and finger as tempos gets faster

  • Could someone please leave me a message about which of these rudiments would be best to learn for a beginer drummer and which one's are actualy mostly used in drumming thank you.

  • Single strokes are very important, as are the double stroke and the flam. Those are the basics. Some widely used rudiments are the paradiddle, flam accent, and paradiddlediddle. Learn those and you should be able to build up from there.

  • Just like the other respond says single strokes are very important, double strokes and I would say triplets. don't focus too much on the speed but in the tempo, a solid drummer is better than a fast drummer that can't play on time. study the basic rythms and then study paradiddle, paradiddles are so important they will take you to the next level, your druming will start sounding complex and not so plain. well that's my opinion.

  • I agree with what you said. Just wanted to tell you that triplets are subdivisons and not a rudiment. A beginner should not study rudiments imo. They should learn beats and fills and such things. And then if they wanna learn more study rudiments. Begining with the single and double-strokeroll and the flam. Since everything that you can play is built on those three

  • you're right, I didn't start with rudiments until I had some beats going on. I learnt with metallica and nirvana mostly. ha, air drummer.

  • dont say he sucks, cause if u are watching this video, it is probably because u suck even more lol.

(i am watching to learn )

  • Comment removed

  • coltranized could'nt have said it any better

  • I thought it was good. The only time you play one like this is on your pratcise pad anyway...on a gig it never really happens, does it!
