The manga was still being written and they aired a ton of "filler" episodes to fill the time gap. During this time, the plot went nowhere fast. This went on for too long and the funding got cut. It's a shame, the final RK story arc was fantastic.

I always thought this was sort of a strange song for the opening of Kenshin. It doesn't really fit the images or the show or anything. XD But anime can be like that. I remember seeing a show where tons of people are horrible killed in the first episode, and the outro was a girl dancing around in a bikini to really cheery music.

But I always got a kick out of how happy this song sounds in contrast to the words. XD
