  • omg ! what a song !!

  • those were the days

  • DAMN! I was stationed at ft.ord ca. in 1988-1992 & when this album came out i went out an bought the ALBUM, yes ALBUM & 20 plus yrs. later I still have it in the exact cover in damn near mint condition. People the 70's through mid 90's were the greatest days ever. Artist who dressed well, had great voices, gave great interviews, & loved their fans. Today there's a few who are like that, but 85% of today's music in r&b & rap is shitty & filled with meaningless garbage. I wish we could all go back.

  • @str8outtatexas1 Hey brother I feel you !! You sound like me! I miss those days !! How time flies !! peace brother !

  • u betta sing it chuck

  • he had a tight fade a box and a rat tail you go boy !

  • he is unsung!

  • No Doubt he is a Star!!!!!!

  • at 10yrs old this was my jam.lol

  • I met Chukii in a TV studio when he was working for Tina Turner in 1999. He was really nice and friendly.

  • another under-rated artist....SMH

  • This was that heat back in 1989, I miss this era for sure.

    GO CHUCKII!!!!

  • I love the New Jack Swing era. They don't make good music like they "cough(music industry) cough" used to.

  • I remember when this song came out and I loved then and I love it now at 30 years of age. Most of the music today is total crap. Give me music like this any day.

  • I can never get enough of this song. CLASSIC

  • I am so glad this song is on Youtube. I remember those days to when this song would come on the radio. Every once in a while the radio station that I listen to now will play this song when they play old school music. I am so glad that I grew up during the 80's 90's when music was this good.

  • guys this is just great and a beutifull r&b song, todays music is ok but u can't chill with a lady and a nice glass of wine to todays music theres no way possible to be romantic with hip hop different style all together. I am glad that this music and videos have been uploaded. look for the lyrics of this song and youl understand.

    sorry about the gramar.........

  • Some of the R&B that comes out now is still pretty good (Ne-Yo comes to mind), but what bugs me is that everything that comes out has to have a rap verse in the middle of it. If I wanna hear Lil Wayne or Jay-Z or T.I., I'll listen to Lil Wayne or Jay-Z or T.I.

  • I kinda differ on this being labeled as "New Jack Swing" It came out at the same time as that but Teddy Riley's music is New Jack Swing all the way. This is far from that in my opinion.

  • I lived for Friday night videos and Video Soul. If I had relive the 90's I would. I was a just entering adulthood.

  • i'm 18 years old and even I hate most of the music thats on the radio these days, if it werent for my father who introduced me to all these REAL hip-hop songs (which came out around the same time i was born) i'd totally be listenting to all that garbage these so called 'artists' come out with these days, this one is one of my personal faves^_^

  • Great song... but note like the previous poster mentioned, This song is not hip-hop but part of a genre called New Jack Swing.

And to everyone... today's music isn't garbage, just the very limited 40 song playlists that stations choose to play give us the impression that that is all there is out there - totally false. Which is why internet radio can be cool - especially pandora. Check it.

  • 1989 ...This was part of the New Jack Swing era..Music like this was the greateast so much variety back then..not like today garbage..Chuckii Booker wrote songs for Troop and this song blew him up...I miss 80's R&B..Yall can keep Neyo and Little Wayne

  • you're so right. today's music is garbage except a very few that make sense.

  • AGREED! I was 16 in 1989 when this song came out. After seeing this video on video soul, I remember hoping on the bus the VERY next day, to go to the record store, to buy this cassette..lol. Back then we had real GOOD (key word) musicians/song writers. These young artists today act like playing a piano or picking up a guitar is taboo! I'm so glad I grew up in this era.

  • @dblbeats the 80's rule forever !!

  • @dblbeats He also was Janet Jackson'S Musical Director on many of her Tours. Dito on the Neyo and Little Wayne reference...lets add Trey Songz to the Garbage' heep also.

  • wow, hot tracks, f.n.v so glad im not the only old head on here. that was a good song when music actually made sense and meant somthing

  • I remember this from the summer of '89 when I was 8. Great song!

  • I know it is kind of funny how us old folks comment, but it's one thing to like the song and one thing to actually have been a teenager or in high school when these songs where a hit...I'm SO glad I'm not in high school now...it cannot compare AT ALL the way it was back then. Back then there was a such thing as having a crush with butterflies in your stomach rather than wanting to have oral sex parties because you have a crush on a guy...and in a nutshell THAT'S the difference

  • trust me oral sex and all isn't new, not a big deal,,the difference was people didn't talk about it all the time,,,,,,,so, cool song and I'm pre-new Jack and Hip Hop generation number 1,,,so like late 70's early 80's ----rear end free love generation.

  • Friday night videos

  • used to watch this on hot tracks at night. This was hot. Real music , talent , where has this stuff gone?

  • THIS IS A REAL GOOD SONG!

  • This song is pre-New Jack Swing, but man I loved this song. Loved this song so much back in the day. I was a kid then, but I had a pretty good taste in music. It's so trippy to me that this song is an oldie (Golden Oldie to me) nowadays. That is a trip:)

  • pre-New Jack Swing?? umm how? This song came out in 1989...meanwhile Guy came out the year before, and Guy was the epitome of New Jack Swing, I don't think anyone would or could argue that.

  • Haa, my mistake. Thanks for the correction:)

  • i like this song when i was young

  • OMG<take me back this is real music

  • Comment removed

  • Chuckii where are you now. i hope your still doin you thang

  • I think that song "You Dont Know" is on the CD Niice N Wiild. you can get that on iTunes.

  • Man, this was the JAM back in the day! I remember cruising in my beat up Civic during the summertime with this blasting on the speakers -- I thought I was a playa :) Great tune...

  • man my brother would always sing this song. it drove me crazy

  • wow i usd to love this song chuckii i remember from the way he spelled his name

  • one of my top ten songs of al time

  • I really thought he would blow up the charts with many hits. Still this was one monster jam.

    Great post!

  • Such a great song! Thank you for posting, EinahChild!

  • Chucky Booker was a bad boy back in the day. He was SERIOUSLY underrated. What a talent. His music takes me back to childhood summertimes cause he was the jam on the radio then. And when my man breaks out the rock guitar, he crushes this song. I love the studio he shot the vid in. Anybody remember another one of his jams "Why you wanna play your games on me"? That was my second favorite next to this song.

  • why you wanna play your games on me why you wanna play, that was the stuff

  • THIS SHIT IS CHOICE!

  • Chuckii Booker is a great singer as well as a great producer.

  • straight cruisin music......feel like getting in my car and driving!!!!

  • Coming Soon on youtube is an interview I did with Chuckii Booker. Stay tuned to Knyte 77's page for the interview.

  • My man is SO underrated. This song still sounds sweet after all these years. Classic

  • I've never a guy with a mullet and a flattop at the same time. 5 stars.

  • It's not a mullet, it's called a tail. A mullet is long on the top!

  • Where r u bruh?????? we need u back!

  • tell you what. The moment Chuckii came out, I liked his music because there was something innocent and clear about it beacuse he never sang about giving you the world, plucking all the stars from heaven, etc. he sang about real life frustration to the extent that there was something sentimental about his style. His other track 'games' is one of my ultimate top 40.

  • LOVED IT!

  • Took a while for this song to grow on me... but when it did it was immediately one of my top tunes of all time.

  • reminds me of 7th grade

  • Is'nt this cat some relation to Barry White?

  • Im not sure, but he has worked with many, many artist everything from song writing to music videos

  • Barry was his godfather. Since i found this song, i been playn the shit outta it!! real talk this IS my shit..

  • This is real R N B, not shady ass Usher, T Pain, Ne-yo, Chris Brown- I am tired of them.

  • a little kid n play

  • this video is epic all over

    great singing

    great guitar break

    awesome! bill cosby dance! lol

  • damn I was 16 in 1989 and LOVED this jam... seems like it was just yesterday.

  • im 35 also, and dont the box with the tail bring back memories?

  • LOL! Funny.. I totally forgot how it was called a "box" until you just brought it up. hahaha. Yep, everybody boy I knew had a box with or without the tail. Kids of 80's...you gotta love us.

  • I use to jam to this song.

  • Good song! I have the cassette single of this lol!

  • i think we all rocked tha box fade with tha ponytail i know i did and troop and full force did too lol

  • this song brings back childhood memories see it pays to be a 80's baby ya dig

  • yes it feels good to be a 80's baby...lol

  • classic

  • this song bring back memories

  • This song was a classic back in the days it brings back so many memories thanks youtube!!!!!!!!

  • Got this in the library, and still love it.Kinda reminds you of Troop without the guys.Listen to the music...doesn't that remind you of Spread My Wings?

  • It was produced by chuckii booker. and he played the guitar solo for spread my wings 2.

  • I love this song. Plus beautiful Lisa from the Fly Girls is in this video (In Living Color). Great song. Great woman.

  • None of them can dance, but I think this video is so cute anyway. LOL They tried!!

  • O M G not chuckii booker i loved him

  • I will never forget the 1st time I heard this song in the spring of 89. This song is the most palyed song on my Ipod. I loved this song from the 1st minute I heard it and I love the guitar break. Chuckii is still one of my favorite artist. A truly amazing song in my book.

  • this song was fire and still is.

  • I'm laughin' right now, 'cuz I'm checkin' out Chuckii rockin' the old school box fade with the ponytail in the back.

Let's be honest, who else had it? LOL

  • This song brings back good memories.... I truly miss those time.

  • my summer jam in 88 in oen i was 8 whcean city whenm i was 8and th n.e. hertbreak tape

  • Life was so much better back then. Brings a warmness I haven't felt in a long time.

  • I totally agree, I get a calm sense of warmness when I hear this too, It calm's when down and take me back to when I was a kid I was probably about 15 in 1992 when this came out. I miss those days :( Life was so much better back then, I never thought the world would be like this :(

  • chuckii booker is a very talented performer and musician... the music biz didn't give him the credit what he deserved i'm mad about that and he did a very good job producing songs for troop and for other people...

  • WHERE IS HE?! I've been trying to find that out for YEARS!

  • You should check out Chuckii Bookers wiki page it says he is musical director for Mary J Blige.

  • Really?! thats good to know

  • Chuckii was my fav back then. I loved everything he did including the Troop songs he produced.

  • This video makes me wanna grow a flat top and a shag...and go out and buy a blazer and where a t shirt under it...these were the days...(tear)

  • That is so funny, but so true, thanks for the laugh!!!

  • This was my shit Chucky Killed this toss up between this and games which one was better

  • I love real musicians!!!!!!!!!!

  • LOL...y'all took me back to high school with this one!

  • better days..back then!

  • damn flat top with the shag in the back those were the days.lol!!

  • well yeah theres a few real Performers out who writes and sings that real music The 90's was the Best

  • Chuckii Booker hes very talented he writes and sings that real R&B that is missing in todays music

  • i hear that minimoog in the bass

  • this was my shit at the skatin rink

  • Chuckii is the musical director for Lionel Richie & Mary J Blige

  • The year this music came out people were grooving in the groups. Too bad those days are gone, maybe we took them for granted. Ahahh..then again it was good for then and all I can do is smile when they ask me about it. "Say Whata"

  • I loved (and still do)this song.

I remember that he was the opening act on Janet Jackson's Rhythmn Nation. People booed him :(

  • He's got the perfect flat top.

  • Where is Chuckii Booker now?

  • im tearin up over here rememberin my past lol... where exactly did the time go?

  • I feel the same way, I really miss this era of music.

  • I used to have the biggest crush on him..hahah

  • the girl in the video looks like sade

  • I keep telling my girlfriend that there is no more platform for R&B music. Since Video Soul went off the air, it hammered the nails in the coffin and buried R&B music. Now there's no where for it to be showcased. These days R&B is mixed with all this other music. Hip Hop ect. It's sad. I miss the old BET Days. Well, at least you have satellite, music choice, Much Music, Fuse, On Demand and VH1 Soul to be hopeful, but that's it.

  • I truly love this song. Whatever happened to good music like this? Who knows? I was about 16 when this song came out. I am grateful for youtube, how else would I be able to listen to decent music like this and from people like Deon Estus, I think that's how you spell Deon's last name.

  • I remember where I was the 1st time I heard this; at kennywood in Pittsburgh..waiting in line for a ride. I remember how much I really loved it..And this was my intro to New jack Swing pretty much.

  • This man has got talent, we just became friends on Facebook.

  • New Jack, definitely was a great time for music. Chuckii Booker (Barry White's godson, I think)was amazing. Saw him open for Janet Jackson once at Madison Square Garden. He was FABULOUS! It hurt to see the crowd really wasn't feeling him nor was he given his just due; they just wanted to see Janet. But I knew I was hearing a true musician. Nothing beats REAL TALENT: someone who reads music and has a command of chord arrangement. Where is he now?

  • Chuckii Booker was INSANELY talented!!! He took new jack swing & put chord strctures, elastic basslines, guitar solos & super-tight production in it. He was so underrated, it's ridiculous!!!

  • i really feel like i am getting old now...i was like 10 when this came out, or something like that...but i am now 28 and i really know this damn song...i produce tom joyner in houston and he plays this song on the show sometimes.

  • Seeing these videos takes me back to a time of pure fun. I miss those days and the artist back from the 80s and 90s.

  • Man I remember dancing in my living room everytime this song came on!!! LOL

  • every time i see someone with a rat tail i think of this song LOL

  • NEW JACK SWING WAS THE BEST.

  • I love this song, but its interesting that all video girls were the same back then: light skin with long hair..lol

  • What about the dark girl with short hair in the yellow t shirt... Durkhead haha. x

  • 0.37-0.39

  • hell its still like that..light skinned black women always get more tv time...and i am on the lighter side and i hate about our oown people...put some dark skinned chicks on there goddammit.

  • i feel so old but love the memories that this brings back. it's funny but i lot of stuff i listen too they have remixes to them and when my daughter hears the originals. she's in shock because she thought it was new.

  • right, let him and those teenager stick to that "Crank Dat Soulja Boi" shit...

This is a "grown up" page here.

  • I love this one of best R&B on earth, I was 8 when this came out. I wish it was still late 80s, not crappy late 2000s.

  • I was in college when this song came out, and it was and still is one of my favorites. Whoever posted this jam, thanks!

  • nice song

  • i always liked this song. when it came out i was like 7 lol. i found the cd about 2yrs ago and its got some nice tracks on it...i cant believe it cost me 24 dollars though. thats what happens when stuff is outta print.

  • It's not out of print, it's a special order where I live.

  • I saw him with Janet Jackson too. The Rhythm Nation Tour. Wow. I was 16 then. 1990. Crazy how time flies.

  • Love this song!!!

  • The Year 1989 Freshman in College ...and suffered a bad break up I got thru it thanks to this jam..Chuckii was the MAN in 1989 Its shame todays music is GARBAGE.. EVERYONE should boycott TODAY B*S and bring back the 80early 90's groups back

  • I saw him with Janet Jackson, he was the musical director for the Rhythm Nation Tour-he did that song Linus does on Charlie Brown-forgot the name of it-but he tears it up-he put on a good show

  • I remember when that same tour came to Miami in early 1990.

  • Chuckii is the musical director for Mary J Blige now. Im not sure if he still makes records or not.

  • Maaaaaaaaan this was/still is my shaaaaat!!! He was so talented! I wonder where he is now!?

  • Howie, HalfDead created this acct just to Hate, dont pay him/her no attention. Thats what they do.

  • I created this account to give my brutal but honest opinion! Don't hate me, hate freedom of speech it made this possible! I believe in that freedom and using it friend!

  • ANYway you fuckin hateR, Keep practicing so you can maintain making 20 dollaZ a NitE at the bar. stUpid aZz. Go Eat a BaG of DyQz

  • He should of been more than just a here today and gone tomorrow type cat!

  • Ahhh, another cute '80s track before the 'drum machine' and synthetic overload took the 'soul' completely out of R&B. Gotta go raid my 'cassette' collection now :)

  • no way! i didn't know chuckii made this song. i heard this song and thought it sounded great back when i heard it. when i clicked on this song and it started off with the slow piano part, i said i didn't know this song. then BOOM he starts singing TURNED AWAY! wow!

  • Wow....I want to be embarrased that I had a crush on him...but i just cant. I miss the late 80's early 90's sooooo much. I miss chuckii, Troop, Silk, Guy (not damien hall so much because really...he was like a third testicle). Oh damnit...i just miss my child hood!!!!

  • Great song.

  • I am over 30 but he was pushing it way too much - he looked very unnatural dancing. her belongs behind a keyboard not out front dancing like that. some guys just don;t come off as dancers. I say the same thing when i see Ne-yo dancing - looks weird.

  • LOL! I guess Chuckii really started feeling the groove and decided to to bust a move. I love this song. Imma look for that video by Young MC...I think, lol!

  • Chuckii Booker is an extremely skilled musician, songwriter, and producer. Chuckii has been musical director for Tina Turner, Janet Jackson, Mary J Blige and many other BIG NAME artists. Do your homework folks. In the record business their are few that are as well respected. Chuckii is also a virtuoso as a guitarist and keyboard player.

  • your response a week ago was totally right on to ikcaps much love 4 those in your list

  • love you daddy

  • Chuckii is now the musical director for Mary J Blige

  • Is it me or does he look like Herschel Walker the football player?

  • Its not just u he does look like Hersh...lol...good observation

  • Sadly Chucki Booker is considered a 2 hit wonder...this song is amazing....his poise and singing carries him with respect to 2008.

  • I had a big crush on him..hahah

  • The big shoulders really complement Chuckii's haircut.

  • OK, that was supposed to be my comment on seeing him in Oakland, person did not log out on this computer! and I remember now, it was May 1990!

  • I remember seeing him open for Janet in Oakland,May 1989? good times, good music. He did the theme from Charlie Brown in concert too, was hillarious!

  • Memories! Those were the days..true music! I miss the back in day songs! Chucki Booker was the man for this jam in 1989! I was 19..Yep I told my age oh well LOL I wouldn't trade it for todays youth and the music today! :-)

  • good ol chuckii
