5 shows a day for 30+ yrs=45,000 performances of this from her. Amazing! True old-school talent.Thank goodness Disney Corp. had the good sense to honor her (& her 2 co-stars) with a "LEGEND" award. Her spirit lives on in so many who were entranced with her live flesh n blood singing & improvisation which made the immediacy of stage performance so thrilling. I know she strongly influenced me to go into showbiz.
Oh my god, there's a woman smoking in the audience! Wow, things sure have changed! I heard they canceled this because it was too expensive. Interesting how they can spend a fortune on Fantasmic twice a day, but they can't afford live performers. Maybe if they hadn't had the bonehead idea of opening up that California Disaster in the parking lot, they might have money left over to do some good old fashion Disney magic~!
You said it! One of my fondest childhood memories is seeing The Golden Horseshoe Revue! I was 10, and laughed my head off! Nothing that fun and entertaining has been seen at Disneyland since the show closed. It's such a shame. Wally Boag as Pecos Bill was truly classic Disney family entertainment. Now Disney relies too much on technological gimmicks.
I actually had the great pleasure, of living in Anaheim Cal., during the 80's, so I got to enjoy this show many times. But even better I was privaleged to meet all the great performers, including Betty Taylor. This was the greatest and longest, running stage show of it's era. It's even listed in the Guinness book as such. I miss this show, there will never be as great or long running show as this one was. Great memories, thanks for posting!
This is GREAT! Do you have any more??? I've been looking for more of this show, hopefully to assemble the whole thing including Wally Boag's complete "Nobody sleeps when I'm on...)routine. Thanks for posting this!
I loved this show as a child and always dreamed of staring as Slue Foot Sue. Even though the show is gone, I haven't given up on my dream to step into Betty Taylor's incredible shoes. Thanks for posting this. It makes me so happy!
GREAT SHOW, I wish they would bring it back... They could use Debbie Reynolds, she is still kicking good! :-)
