  • Hi Wyrmeli, the shape off our nose allows us to swim forward without getting water in it. Also, people do have small muscles in their noses that allows them to flare their nostrils or partly close them. These muscles are weak in today's humans as we don't use them. But had we had stayed in the water, and become more aquatic, we may have developed these muscles until we could have closed our nostrils in the water.

  • Very intriguing, but one thing came to my mind: if the water ape -theory is true, how come our nose has not developed to block incoming water?

  • It is true :(

  • what the flip this is an hour and a half long and there are NO real pics OF MERmAIDS. i beleive but this is terrible.

  • Starbucks logo!

  • really one hour

  • I totally feel like swimming with my monofin right now... :P

  • something to think about, thanks for putting it up.

  • the reason why Nigerian Christians especially those from my tribes are against going to cultural dances because the societies/dance groups who participate in them themselves invoke mermaid marine powers. the existence of them is not contested in ijaw. During the festivities my uncles say the drumming attracts the mermaids and if the beat is spiritual enough they come to shore and play, not everybody sees them sometimes they come on land and dance and go back

  • mermaids are real and they aren't just in human form, some rulers in riverine area of Nigeria claim to go into the sea and have sex with them, the tribal mask of the ijo or ijaw people are mermaid depictions they are called water spirits mermaids are water spirits that materialize in material form at times. the sea is a deep place, ijaw sailors/fishermen would see them in the sea. and sometimes sacrifice to them before further pass could be made.

  • my mom bough me a pink fish tale mermaid suite when I was seven. And I jumped in the pool and turn the water pink. That was 30 yrs ago.

  • totally agree. :) In my Country(Cuba) we have some manaties., and they look like persons. So, I totally agree with this story. Gratz!!

  • Why does this video not even mention men who shared the life with 'mermaids'? Why is this video so sexist? "Mermaids' were allegedly 'leaders'? Where is the proof? I would say that one advantage of farming, Christian community is strict moral laws, which prohibited incest. Thus, the farmers/Christians had better genes, as they only married if they were not related. Perhaps not so with 'mermaids'. Otherwise, a very educational video, very logical explanation of 'mermaids' and 'Aquatic Ape'.

  • @VojvodinaNet what do u mean shared life with mermaids?

  • @childofconvenant I mean 'mermaids' did not live without men, did they? This video is trying to find foundation for feminism in 'mermaids' theory. This is wrong. I truly believe in 'aquatic ape' theory and I find the explanation about 'mermaids' very plausible, but you cannot ad hoc value 'water people' society to be better than 'farming' one. There must have been something good about the farmers if they were superior to 'mermaids'? Maybe their society had advantages too?

  • What a nice presentation!:)
