if you're fishing this heavy of cover, braids a good idea. i usually texas rig on 12lb fluro, but i'm not usually throwing into anything as thick as this (i texas rig on a spinning rod/reel combo cuz i don't need to use a heavy weight where i fish, so it's not really heavy enough for a baitcaster). i do use 50lb braid on my frog/jig setup though, because i throw my frogs into just about anything.
@xIMxAwSoMeZx - I agree. I'm only using 10-14lb mono for largemouth. I have another rod that I'm using 40 lb braid....which I use for stripers. Typical stripers caught are 30+ inches weighing at least 20 lbs...
@SupremeScreamStudios : There's a bit of a difference between fishing in Canada for Largemouth Bass and anywhere South of the Mason Dixon boys... for anyone in the North a Largemouth over 4 is a solid fish and limits of 20 lbs are pretty common up here... our record bag is 31.5 lbs for 5!
thumbs up if you think there people that just look at videos to dislike them cuz theres nothing rong with this video and it has 2 dislikes???? nice job thank you for the info im gonna try my texas rig today with my grandpa hopefuly it works and u hit me up and i could probly told ya what i cought. =D
pro reels must make more noise..i have medium grade stuff and have landed fish like that in...and there is no sound..lol..crazy..i've pulled 3 and 4 lb fish outta some sloppy stuff with berkley 17lb xt..that 65lb test is way overboard..i may use braided around stumps and rocks but totatally unnecesary in a normal circumstance
25lb line? 65lb line? For bass, seriously? I fish for sea bass and bluefish and mostly use 10lb with 8lb leader (just mono) and have been doing fine...
Getting ready to replace my line,I was looking into getting 65lb power pro,But ive always been afraid to make the switch to hi vis line.I normally go with moss green for vegetation.I may decide to try the vermillion red...
@iDirtyDan : I'm a huge braid fan personally and flip with 65 lb most of the time but I always have a couple od rods rigged with straight fluorocarbon... one with 20 lb for sparse cover and one with 25 lb for getting into the junk. Mono has far too much stretch for my liking.
@iDirtyDan If you would like to find a nice middle ground, I have been using co-polymers lately, #8 yo-zuri Hybrid ultra soft on my spinning setup is great. I have been using #12Trilene sensation on my Curado and #12 Yo-zuri hybrid standard on my Citica. All have faired quite nice, not a lot of stretch and super strong. Viscous Ultimate is another one I use that has gone way above my expectations. Check'em out.
hm i use 12 lb flouro-mono mix line and i have monster hook sets but my line dont rip. i honestly dont see a point in using 15lb + line unless in a tourny or when throwing big swimbaits and skiping under docks and heavy vegetation
@HuskerFishing The reason you use braid is for heavy cover. If you are using 12 lb mono or floro a good sized fish can pull you into the weeds/trees. I use 50 lb power pro for flipping because I can literally pull that fish out of a tree without having to worry about getting hung up. Also braided line gives you an amazing feel for the bottom. I can tell the difference between sand, rocks, logs, and fish. That's a big plus.
please help i am just starting to fish tournys and i wanted the hi vis yellow cuz it looks cool but my friend told me to get the moss color cuz the yellow will spook the fish
wow nice vid. i was wondering if this will work too... braided line ( 20-30lbs) with a 14 lb flourocarbon leader? would that still work in thick vegetation or weeds?
@FishingFreak711 : You should be using a bullet weight with a Texas Rigged soft plastic to avoid getting hung up with weeds and structure. The pointed weights are best when dealing with vegetation.
Nicely done JP!!! Love that slop and those weed lines!!! Hi Vis line, eh, I have never used cause I thought the fish would see it...everything is worth a try...
What month do you usually fish with worms
fishingandhuntin1000 4 days ago
JP, when do you flip a tube over a jig and vice versa?
PatrickZajdel 6 days ago
You could just tie on some flourocarbon line on the end of your high vis line.

@redscarf11 Exactly, I use ten pound and it works just fine. Some pros talk about using sixty pound braid, its crazy.

FishboiFishboi 1 year ago
@FishboiFishboi : Not a great idea for heavy cover. In open water you may get away with it but I would be gun shy if you have a big hook set.
GettingSchoold 1 year ago
@GettingSchoold
oh aright.. thanks for the tip. one more thing i gotta ask... would using braid and a fluoro leader still be as effective as in just using fluoro?
FishboiFishboi 1 year ago
@FishboiFishboi : I would rather use each one alone since having another knot is just another place to have failure.
GettingSchoold 1 year ago
@FishboiFishboi youd be fine with 10lb mono..
