  • I have one on my wrist as well but I went and got mine injected with cortisone. :-D doc said even if u pop it like that the sack is still in there and it will regrow In a few months.

  • i have one does it hurt doing that eep

  • Some people think this only works with the bible...

    Silly morons

  • i did some pushups and like 270 in 1^hour and then the next morning i ended up with a cyst on my wrist ^^

  • @Hilton205 the same here, I was too excited that I can go to gym again. The next day, after doing bench press, I have that painfull s...t on my both wrists. I can believe it, I am not able to do single push up, since it hurts so much.

  • I love how at :31 they look at each other simultaneously. lol

  • LOL thought the same thing :D

  • my bro had one on his back an simple removal surgery is best as the cist stays inside the body its roots or apendages grow longer so the more time it stay the harder to remove it

  • in the back , it was´nt a ganglion then , it was a cysl, ganglions occur only at the joints, ankle, elbow, wrist, knee

  • did that hurt?

  • Ive done this three times and it only worked temporarily for me, If you are active with ur wrist then it may be worth it for like two-five weeks then... DUN DUN DUN!!!!!!!!

  • I have one but im too scared to do this...does it hurt?

  • nope, just did it.

  • oh god my dad did this to me with a remote. I cried. too bad the stupid thing is back again

  • i play guitar and i hav 1 on my left hand its the size of a small marble but it moves with the ligament wenever i move my ring finger IT SCARES ME will this work??? PLZ TL MEW I NEED MY LEFT HAND!!!!

  • i have the same cyst on my wrist.. and idk what to do about it.. this book trick, where do the S!@# go afterwards? its inside you still right? is that ok?

  • The cyst pops inside your wrist, thus releasing all the jelly inside which will then absorb into the skin. Nothing to worry about as this is normal and will not cause any problems, i have a huge cyst on my wrist from the boxing machines, dislocatedf my wrist and ended up growing a cyst because of it. They can be extremely painful, ive had to do this book treatment twice as there is no way in hell im having a needle stabbed in my wrist!

  • yea a few days after i commented on this vid. i was at school sitting in a desk and stood up and my wrist was between me and the desk and it popped i was like OMG SWEET lol

the reason as to why i developed it was b/c of doing power clean a few years ago and i hurt my wrist. then just this past summer i was working out and did a lot of pushups and then developed the cyst. then it popped.

but i was doing some pushups again and i developed a small cyst, it went away naturally tho. :(((

  • Looking at how big my nose looks from that angle, I think I should have him hit that, too! :(

  • I've got a big nose but to bad, you've got nothing worry about!

  • dont be paranoid, ur nose looks fine and just cuz its your profile, doesnt mean anything. maybe he wanted that shot so people wouldnt know who u were, but obviously ur nose isnt gross to him so why would he take into account angle to it?

  • rofl it worked?

  • does this hurt once you whack it with a beastly book?

  • The suspension that built up to the wacking about killed me.

  • I have a cyst on my left hand, but I don't know what kind it is or anything. I've had it for years and it doesn't bother me, though. You've got guts if you let someone whack you! lol didn't that hurt?

  • I forgot to say, i also have one on my right hand, good job I'm left handed. But i play piano and worry if getting it removed might caused permanently damage to my hand, which i CANNOT do with.

  • Hitting it like this can cause damage to the rest of the surrounding area, including nerve damage, so it is not recommended. Thats why its an OLD treatment.

  • @BlessedSpirit

yes, but because mine was about 30 years OLD, it was no longer gel, it got hard and the only other option was to have MAJOR hand SURGERY. I wouldn't have had the USE of my hand for months, IF they didn't fuck it up and snip a nerve.

I had MORE chance of nerve damage with the surgery.

BTW, I forgot, we DID have to do it again a year later, but the technique was better, and it hasn't grown any bigger since 2003

  • @sugrcoma Wow, that comment was 2 years ago =D thats some time.

  • I hit one with a book 15 years ago and I haven't seen it since!

  • what'd you hit it with?

haaha that sounds pretty funny :)

  • i had one and i got rid of it by bended my hand and it got scewed by my to hand bone and arm bone

  • So what's the deal? Has the ganglion been owned indefinitely?

  • Way to show that cyst who wears the pants on your wrist!

  • Hasn't come back yet...not this time, anyway....

  • I had to get surgery on mine 2 times. The 2nd time they removed the nerve. I couldn't move my wrist for 3 months and had to get therapy. the bones never grew back right and I may have to get my wrist fused. Don't mess with these things, see a DOC ASAP!

  • I thought the doc messed you up? D:

  • My doctor, who happens to be the EAGLES football team's internist, told me I'd probably have to have it surgically removed eventually, but to "go ahead and hit it if you want."

  • Go EAGLES!!!

  • i had one. i hit da wall and it wen away for a couple of weeks den it came back so i did it again. its been 7 years now, never came back

  • whata pussy. get that shit surgicly removed. It isnt coo to wack it. if you wanna see whats inside it. search for "ganglion cyst" and like the third one down is my roomate draining that shit at home. It aint nothing. just jab it with an exacto knife and squeeze it and then keep it clean and wrapped up. for real. damn.

  • MINE is 30 years old and very hard, like bone now. It also covers a much larger area of my hand than just the bump that sticks up. It can't be squeezed out, only cut out, and it would be major surgery in which they'd be operating around delicate nerves.

  • I would exactly say its would be major surgery - major surgery would be like a heart transplant - you could go into a short stay surgery get that done in about 20 mins and leave the same day =] my mums a surgon =]

  • Well, for me, since I've only ever had 2 minor surgeries, wisdom teeth being one of them, I consider it major if it's something that's going to take months to recover from, which this would AND no guarantee that it wouldn't come back.

  • I have exactly the same thing, but ive had it for like 6 months, so ur saying if i leave it too long that ill have to have major surgery on it ??

  • Mine is about 30 YEARS old! :) I don't know HOW old is "old," for these things, but mine is. Yours probably isn't.

  • I loved the look you gave each other at the end....is it gone....lol.

  • I knew books were good for something...lol.

  • i have one on my hand, im getting it removed next week, now thats what i call TRUE BIBLE THUMPERS!

  • hey, did it work? i've got a big one on my wrist. if smashing it actually works, i might look into it.

  • It seemed to work better the next time it grew back, (larger.) I've had it for about 25 years, but this is the biggest it's gotten. It hasn't been back for a few months now...*fingers crossed

  • i guess everyone needs a good whacking every once in a while!!

  • I have had one on my wrists for like seven years and it hasnt ever bothered me. Sometimes it moves around a bit and gets a bit bigger, but never really large. I chickened out about getting it removed!

  • i had mine cut out.

  • cut that bitch open dude, drain that shit and tape it

  • the stuff inside isn't liquid anymore because it's been there too long. I'd need major surgery on my hand and LONG rehab. :(

  • I know a construction worker that does this every so often when he can't use his wrist. I watched him slam it on the corner of a counter. Yea it was gone and I was sick.

  • LOL, "IT'S ALIVE" - Lon Cheney

  • yea sugrcoma, hit it as hard it can be hit. Im going have mine hit too like this week (left top wrist)

  • you're really going to have to whack it though. Try a ball-peen hammer, that ought to do it. Lol Surgery isn't sure fire either I have to tell you. My ex had one on the back of her hand operated on. It was back in 2 yrs. Ganglion is a mass of cysts btw on and around tendons usually that's why the hand and wrist and feet have them.

  • I just had to hit it again a month or so ago and now it finally is almost gone...for now. I'm just going to keep hitting it. I have one on my right foot, too, almost in the same spot on the foot as on the hand. Never realized it was the same thing, just thought it was a bone until recently!

  • A Ganglion is just a cyst. You rupture it by using direct force causing it to rupture then it is absorbed by the body. It can be an early sign of arthritis too.

  • I feel your pain. I have one that comes and goes, but it used to be hard enough to reduce wrist mobility.

I never had considered whacking it with a book, but I'll have to wait until it's out of its current "remission."

There's a video of a guy getting his cyst whacked. This video made it to a recent America's Home Video. In the video, the man provides a good description about the cyst.

I loved the "is it dead" look between you, after the whacking.

  • Haha! Well, as it turns out, it wasn't "dead." It did go down, but now it's back bigger than before, (I don't think hitting it had anything to do with that, it got bigger every time,) and at this point we're going to hit it HARD once more, and if it still comes back, I guess I'm going to have to have it removed...not looking forward to that!

  • why the hell whould u do this?

  • Because the only other option would be surgery, 6-8 weeks of recovery, physical therapy and hopefully my hand would still work the way it used to.

I did 'research' on the net...the book can rupture the membrane that allows the cyst to grow- if so, then it can't anymore, and no risk of infection.

It's still there, but not nearly as bad and it doesn't hurt now.

Stay tuned for future book whackings...;D

  • Aspiration was your other medical option, why didn't you persue that? "Whacking" away cysts with heavy objects risks injurying surrounding tissue.

  • try having a damn ganglion cyst on my both wrists. the book is a whole lot easier and cheaper. i have one and I am in agony right now.

  • I feel for you, stereogirl, I have more than one on this hand, but the others aren't "whackable." One is one my palm at the base of my middle finger, but it doesn't usually "act up."

As for "aspiration," I looked into that. All that does is remove the FLUID that collects under the sheath. WHACKING it can break the sheath so it stops happening. Apparently, we didn't hit it hard enough, though, because it's just as big as before and hurting again.

  • does it hurt a lot after whacking it?

  • It depends on what your defininition of "hurt" is...

I used to have to have my ingrown toenails cut out on my big toe and they'd cut straight down the middle to the cuticle and pull it out and I didn't let them use novacaine because of the needles for some reason. THAT HURT- a 10 on my pain scale. Compared to that, this was about a 1 on my pain scale.

  • i have cyst above my elbow and tried aspiration at the clinic but it didn't work.
