Travis Barker is (in my opinnion) a pretty good drummer but I think people don't really like him because sometimes he gets really showy in his remixes and solos... Sometimes he just goes after technique over rhythm and idk... that's not always good.

a good descriptor is mediocre. against all the drummers in the world. really. think about people like akira jimbo, like peart, classics like rich and krupa. of all the famous drummers out there, what percentage of them are legitimately WORSE than travis? not a very large percent.

At some point "awesome" is a matter of opinion. When a person has artistic merit and people begin to notice them, they are no longer average. Well, he is far above average. And I think he is great. It has nothing to do with Guitar Hero. He brings something great to music and I recognize that.

There's no doubt this guy is good. Travis Barker is a good drummer. He's just not as awesome as people make him out to be. The popularity that he gained from Guitar Hero has bolstered the belief that he is one of the greatest drummers of our time, when he clearly is not. He's better than average, but not Modern Drummer worthy.

Look, like him or not. You have to respect the guy. He's setting the standards so that kids (I was one of them.) can start getting interested in drums. He's probably the most publicized drummer in the world. I just don't get why that such a bad thing when he's bringing up younger kids to WANT to play drums. He was one of the many drummers that made ME get serious about playing.

Alright. here I go. I'm not one to say "this guy sucks at drums I could kick his ass blah blah blah" because I believe that everyone who is PRACTICED has their own style and form. I'm gonna say that I think that he is severely overrated, that he just hits the drums too hard and loudly, and that everyone apparently thinks he's god BECAUSE of how loud and hard he plays.. He does alot of the same things in his "drum solos" and I personally don't think he's as creative as everyone else does.
