U tell by the cloka on the tail if close to body female if further down the tale male also in some species like red sliders females are also bigger then male.
does ur story of "saving ur turtle" even make sence? if u didint bring it in it would of died? if u didint move it from road it woulda died obvousely tho. nice turtle. i hope u got a bigger tank now. really lol, i got 3 small ones atm
your turtle is really cute!!!! I have a common snapping turtle too!! I don't know for sure but I think mine is a boy and i have had him for almost 3 years!!!! His name is Junior
well...my snapper is about 3 years old....its pretty big now....just get it a 75 gallon or 40 breeder when u get the baby (75 better so u dont waste money) like me, (75 gallon) but im getting it like 1 of those cheap big plastic kiddie pools for the summer soon
ok is the bottom of your turtle flat or is it curved IN like a dip if it has a dip its mail and it dips so they can sit on a female if its flat it will be a female wich lets it stay still during mateing
@lucenombra Everyone thinks they want a turtle. Most turtle owners become turtle owners at random. But to actually want one & know how expensive these soon huge snappers will get, you must be 100% committed. Common Snappers can get huge, especially if they are in captivity. A weight of 40-50lb is not uncommon. Some people have reported to have a snapper of up to 80 pounds. Which is an impressive size and roughly the same weight of a female grey wolf. These turltes can live up to 40 to 50 years.
he probably wishes you would set him free where he can live for a hundred years. your holding him hostage but in time he will forgive you because you loved him.
i actually saved my snapper..she was just born and i was watching all the little babies coming out of the ground and this little one went the other direction than every other 1..i lost track of where me and the snapper were, so a car is like 10 feet away and it was gunna run over it.. so i literally jumped in front of the car and the guy stopped the car..i took the snapper home, brought it to the vet, and the vet said if i didnt bring it in, it would have died. i felt like i wuz ther 4 a reason
well, the only way I can usually tell is whether the Plastron is flat(female), or curved(male). That works with Tortoises, so I think it should work with yours.. I hope
