@molavegurl all part of the learning process, can be really frustrating in the beginning, and when it is just put the guitar down and come back to it cause you won't be doing yourself any good.
I actually find that when I put the guitar down and come back to it the next day I'm better than where I left off.
Pick two chords maybe ones from a song you would like to learn and practice switching between those two chords over and over until you fingers just know where to go.
@ICameAsARat94 I've been playing guitar for less than one week. I'm learning a chord progression Emajor -> Gmajor -> Aminor -> Cmajor. Your fingering seems to be more efficient, thanks for the advice.
Thanks... Very good session. I'm looking for some good YouTube stuff to help my brother get started. Btw, e and b is a rocking sound 'g' (slightly heavier)... Groups like del amitri play the g like this
Just follow this guy's (my teacher) lessons they are really usefull !! i was following those videos for about 5 months 'till i got all of them in my memory then i started to play and improvise new song just with the chords that i learned and it was really constructive for me, i started learning guitar with the help of those videos there is 5 years up to now ! and actually i confirme you that i can play smoothly and really fast solos like "comfortably numb - pink floyd 2cnd solo" without problem
and note that i began playing electric guitar just 4 months ago !
Bref, you'll have good base with this guy, follow just his videos and don't get lost with the tones of videos avaible on youtube because it's useless !! and if it's possible, make him follow lesson on a music school, i feel the need to read a music sheet and to learn scals now ;)
No, your not. There are many way of playing this chord. I was taught (by a teacher) to use my ring finger on the E string, my middle finger on the A string and my pinky on the little E (no finger on the b). I have come to find out that both his way, your way, and my way produce just about the same sound. I'm not sure what the "correct " way is. I hope that helped.
hey, beginner here. i'm having trouble with the chords. my fingers always accidentally touch the strings below it and the result is this warped and fuzzy sound. how do i avoid this?
It's a tricky chord to play. I'm also beginning and I noticed that wrist placement makes a huge difference. Hold the chord and adjust your wrist and play the notes. eventually you'll find an angle that works for you and will make the chord sound really nice. But if you keep your wrist in a bad angle (for you), you'll likely mute a string.
a lot of it has to do with finger strength. it will come naturally as you play more and more. something that also helps is when you find your fingers are touching different strings to give you a funny sound, strum each string slowly and then you should be able to identify which string is affected the most and change it
use the same fingerings for the 6th n 5th string then use third finger second string and third fret with the pinky finger taking the place where the third was in this video,
it helps more for chord switching like from G to D
the way you play it is actually the way you "should" play it - it makes a change from C to G a lot easier. I can't get my pinky on the high e string though - it won't bend that far down!
Ive just recently started playing guitar again.. i played it a year or so back and knew a few chords and all of the notes. Now, a year on after not playing for a while ive forgotten all of the chords and many of the notes. This was a real help and i also watched the C chord one as well, now i know them both again and now have to find video's for Am, Bm and D.. but this video is very simple, quick and VERY helpful. Thanks a bunch! (:
Thanks, it's well explained, I have to play a basic thing on the guitar for school (G-chord, Em-chord, Am-chord D-chord and some more), and without any help I had to found it out *never played before* this was a major help, the guitar still sounds a bit weird though.
Yea but it still could have been explained better. He should show both ways to play. The other being with your 2nd, 3rd and 4th finger. For a beginner that fingering makes the change from G to C a lot easier. Of coarse it is good to learn both ways though.
I can't get it man, it's frustrating, I keep muting the 1st string

it's a hard chord to play and wrist placement really does help how easy it is to play the chord correctly without muting strings

use 4th finger instead of 3rd finger
elbowg1 8 months ago
@elbowg1 because 4th finger is stronger than the 3rd

My guitar teach taught me to play a D on the 2nd string rather than leaving it a B.
But I guess, based on the arpeggio and the fact that B is played and not A, that B is in fact in the scale.

@enoching7 you need to practice feeling the chords the correct way
then start changing chords fast then stop to see if your not muting

I know what a fret is but whats a chord
davidn11 2 years ago
a chord is like an extension of a note so a g chord is like another 2 notes which go witht that chord and make it sound more complete
turnipIsHere 2 years ago
when you hold multiple strings simutaneously to achieve a certain sound. like playing a bunch of strings at once
codysockeye 2 years ago
when any combination of 3 (or more, but most of the time 3) strings are pressed down on different frets
