  • I like how everyone here calls this "gay", but theres nothing gay about putting someone in a submissions (Which some hurt like a bitch or can make you fall asleep) and forcing them to tapout. I also bet that have of the commenters on this video have never tried MMA or any type of martial art.

  • Make sure your not crossing your legs, in this case, it's better to put the left leg over the back of the head and straighten leg pushing head down. Don't put your leg across the lower neck, it gives him all the big muscles to use to resist, force him to use the smaller muscle in his neck by going over the head witth the leg, try it..

  • can someone mature reply to this. UMMMM Sooo in this arm bar... That means that if you're performing the arm bar... the shoulder or bicep are on your balls when you push your hips up?

  • @MrPhuc23 actually the target of the armbar is the elbow joint, when you push your hips up your hyper-extending it causing a break (do it slow so that it doesn't and this gives him time to tap, shouldn't be an escape risk problem if you have everything locked nice and tight. space is your enemy here). But to answer you question in this demo the elbow looks to by a little past the goin, even if you cant get it that deep simply position the elbow on either side of your gunk and push/pull

  • I hear a lotta people using the term "MMA", but state what they ":don't do" in class. Isn't the main term "MIXED Martial Arts??? Do all you can to enhance your Chi and ability to do a lot of damage with the least amount of resistance.

  • in my mma class we never did much ground yet....when someone came to a class from another school and asked me to spar with him i thought he ment stand up but....before i knew it i was flipped on the ground and put into some kind of arm lock and omfg in 1 sec of that bar i taped out. Shit that hurt so much and i still felt it a week later

  • All was going well until he crossed his feet behind this opponent's neck. He's right about clamping down but it's done much more effectively with the feet uncrossed. One of the first things you learn about an armbar from guard is not to cross the feet behind the neck.

  • Hey everyone, Im training MMA , and I will go my first match in December , its the largest "noob" competision in Sweden called WESTSIDE, and im just wundering if anyone of you could just tell me some rly usefull Grappling Techniques to use. i have just been training for like 4 weeks , and everyone in that competion have never fight in a match before , thx if u take ur time and tell me some usefull stuffs.   • i honestly dont know how things work over there but what i did when i started was check out these videos check out gracie videos and other lil grappling videos and learn then like second nature. learn then by applying them to someon bigger than you. get with a buddy and grapple. a lot ppl are concern with strength but technique can prove so much. practive over and over and try to grapple/wrestle 3-4 times a day.

  • Hey man, I'm not sure why you're going to an MMA competition after only training for 4 weeks, even if it's an amateur fight. I'd get some more experience under your belt. That having been said, try to take him down quickly, and roll for an arm bar or get him in a rear naked or a guillotine. Other submissions are more advanced. Good luck though.

  • Exactly. The best "street fighters" are usually the ones who are very aggressive. Because neither one has any skill, the one playing defense cannot defend effectively because he doesn't know how. So the one throwing the most punches probably will win. Or the bigger, stronger person. With a trained oponent, that street fighter throwing the punches will figure out what a counter is real quick. After he wakes up, of course.

  • I voted a 3. Not an overall bad technique, but a few flaws. I think that you swing your leg to wide, and also think it is bad to cross your feet as this creates one pressure, instead of two, which happens when you don't cross your feet.

  • Just like any other martial art, you have to drill to learn the move at something other than full strength and resistance.

    However, unlike various other martial arts, BJJ progresses to full resistance and we work these moves with the person knowing its coming and trying to resist/defend (position drill).

    THEN we work full resistance in a full spar, where no one knows exactly what's coming.

    If you doubt this works under pressure just watch the UFC.

  • no cross legs there, easy to stack. You cant bit down as well with cross legs. There you dont cross your legs any good Black belt tell you that. Only cross legs there if you went from triangle to arm bar set up.

Ricardo arona, one of the best ever, Demian Maia, Best right now in the world 185, all teach one behind the neck literally cracking the neck down hips out right away to prevent the stack. Legs crossed there even a white belt will stack the shit out of you.

  • if the guy on top was in the right position(good posture with his two hands on bottom guys hips with thumbs facing out and elbows in)the guy on bottom whould find it very hard to get an arm bar

  • I thought it was good! Also when doing the armbar you should keep the thumb pointed up, I found it to be more effective.
