the mainboard form factor is "micro" ATX and has ONLY ONE PCI SLOT and no space for good CPU fans and no space for BIG GPU's like GTX295 or even 9800GTX..but you can go with the 9800GT..in other words this rig is not upgradrable for extreme gaming!!
lol, it was the computer but it isn't anymore. I had put in a extremely overclocked graphics card in but i ended up returning it because of the noise.
Did you upgrade the power supply as well? HP uses underpowered power supplies on their elite series. I believe you have/had a 350W ps but the 8800GT requires at least 500 watts.
nice i have the elite with an q6700 and yes u can overclock it got mine at 3.66 also have 6gb ram an HD 4850 1gb and a 500wt raptor hec psu.... absolute power when running crysis warhead
I would say a 550 watt would do you just fine. and overclocking isn't really necessary for hp's. There are meant for home media type stuff but can run great for games. All that overclocking ish is for extreme gaming or just saving money when your doing a custom build, personally.
i would think so, maybe a new card tho since they are fairly cheap these days. Like a 9800 gt or something of that nature. I also got it to help with graphic design and auto cad, so overall it has paid itself off. The benefit of upgrading is if you need it in the future you have it.
I am getting the HP Pavilion Elite M9450F, 2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Quad processor Q9300, 8GB of DDR2 RAM, 750GB SATA hard drive, NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT graphics with up to 2303MB graphics memory, Blu-ray & HD DVD supported. Its practicly a computer POWERHOUSE!!! It is pretty much just like yours but it has a bit more RAM and the graphics card is a little better pluse I didn't hear you mention that you have Blu-Ray. I CAN'T WAIT. Tell me about your computer, are you satisfied? Does it work smoothly?
My computer works great, i would like to have more ram but honestly it doesn't matter right now. Your setup with be more than enough to do whatever you want. PS, new stuff on my is XFX sent me a quieter fan and i added a 1TB hard drive. So if vista ever needs to be rebooted I'm going to put my 2 360GB drives in RAID 0. Great Computers tho you will love it.
I have never used a controler like you have sitting on top of the computer in the vid. Does it work similarly to an Xbox 360 or other game consoles? If I am used to playing Call of Duty 4 on Xbox 360 & I switch to PC using a controler like that, is it difficult to switch, does it feel the same?
LOL, actually that controller is to my 360 Elite. But i believe the game play with the controller for the computer is the same as it is on Xbox. I need to update my video, i have some things i want to show to like how to remove the front cover and how to record live game play off your xbox onto your HP Elite. But its all in good time.
Hell yeah dude, that would be awesome. Once I get my computer I am gonna hook up my Xbox 360 too it. Did you hook up you cable/satilite TV too your computer? I mean this computer is like the only thing you need for all home media. You can watch TV, play video game consoles, liten to music, play movies, surf the net. What more do you need from 1 machine?
Pretty much nothing, playing xbox threw it is a little hard because there is a lag because of recording, but if you have it you computer and xbox hooked up to a TV there is a way were you can play it on your TV and then record what you are doing on the computer. But these computers are amazing. i don't have cable/sat hooked up yet because i have it hook up to my 62 TV but soon i will.
We have been having like a full out convo on here lol. Anyways, you only have 3GB of RAM dude. Maybe you should consider upgrading to around 6GB at least, because the 64 bit Windows Vista OS doesn't start working smoothy until you have at least 4GB of RAM. My computer is going to have the max amount of RAM with 8GB. I hope mine won't lag during recording.
well its really not the RAM, its more of the fact that the xbox has to go through the inputs and the tuner and then out to your monitor. long process.
Yeah, mine is actually older. I mean i got it in may or so but it was mad discounted because blu-ray just beat out HD dvd so the were just trying to get it out of there. now they come with combo drives, more ram, 64-bit os etc. but mine works great.
actually mine came with a 8500GT with HDMI on it which i still use when i go over to a friends house to push the HD movies i have to the TV (at home i use the 8800). But anyway at the end (after rebates) 139.99 +tax and shipping. But i got it as a gift so it cost me nothing. I love it though its great, the only issue i have with this setup is the fact that the HD DVD drive is so big the new power supply wires are cramped a little but i will be changing that drive to a BLU-RAY HDDVD combo soon.
ctc you know only in some cases will it be less money, i went to compusource, to go build a PC and it was 16,000 and my hp pavilion elite is 20,000 and the computer that was going to be built only have a duo core not a quad core prossesor 1 video card where as my HP has 2 and the custom built one has no monitor, where as my HP has 2, for 20,000 please check your facts, if you ment build it yourself, then i'll shut up if you ment take it to the store your dumb. :P
You know, you can build something even more powerful, for most likely 20% less then what you payed for that HP, it would also have a kick ass case, not a dull boring poor airflow one :P
Yeah i know, to be honest i didn't spent that much. I got it when Blu-ray won the battle so they had it on clearance. All i paid was $500, so yes if i paid the original amount of a lil over a $1000 yes i could of built it for 20% less, but i didn't pay that much and the CPU, Motherboard and Case alone would have made it almost there.
Give me the full specs. with the name of the Quad and the brand names of the HDD's i will show you how much you overpaid :D still gratz on the new computer.
LOL, its cheaper now but when i got it wasn't. but Intel Q6600, 2x360 GB seagate HDD, idk the RAM but 3GB, HD-DVD drive, Lightscride DVD burner, TV tuner, XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog Edition, All in one memory card reader, built in wireless internet, a 500 Antec power supply.
not to shabby, unfortunately i have never really been a fan of ATI. Its always been NVidia for me. And the on ATI that i used was on my friends computer and he recently blew it up. But they do have the best top end card right now. It all comes down to everyone wanting to build bitchin computers and at that point any component is unreliable to a degree.
All stock PC factory's give you a boring case, Inside you really get bad airflow unless you pay them extra money to fit the wires to the sides and everything, One dell i made for kicks i put all of the most expensive parts, it barely reached 8,000$ itself, and they wanted 124$ to do wire management.
Yeah i had to up grade the power supply to something above a 425w. It was pretty hard to do the the HD DVD drive being so big, but it can be done, getting all the stuff in. I had a 2 slot card in there but returned it because of the noise but this card is just about as loud.
use a strong vacuum cleaner works alot better, because the compressed air can create condensation and push dust further into graphics cards and other components, while a vacuum cleaner pulls out the dust, not pushing it in further
i would have to say the HP only because the Elites all have Quad cores in them, price wise aser but you might want to look into something thats a little faster, 2.2 dual core isnt to fast in the grand sceem of things. But really its all personal preference.
lol dude nice computer but your rooms is soo messy lol. I am sorry i am sort of a neat freak and stuff lol. i used to be messy but once i turned 16 i kinna yeha neat freak.
