i have a question: When i chose my restore point and click next, it won't let me click next to continue. i used it once before and it work just fine so does that mean i can only use it once? i shut down everything nothing is open and still when i click 'next' nothing happens.

Hello itachikillz, you can use it more than once so there must be another reason why it's not letting you click 'next'. Sorry, but I'm very tired at this moment so can't think of possible reasons - just go through it again, taking your time and maybe the answer will become obvious - that's what I do whenever something seems impossible with my computer, and usually it works although it sometimes takes me some time to get to the answer ;)

Hello Venkasemka. System restore restores the SETTINGS of your computer, it does not get rid of viruses.  You need good anti-virus software so the viruses don't get onto your computer in the first place (as much as is possible!). Prevention much better way to go than trying to cure once the damage is done. Avg is meant to be quite a good free anti-virus although I have not used it myself. I have used Panda for 3 years and have had no virus at all in those 3 years.

IHello XboXStory, if you mean COMPLETELY starting all over again you need to use the original cd that came with your pc -- After 'wiping' your computer you'll then use the same. Just remember that it will wipe off ALL your documents, programs etc. so you really will be making a clean start - so make sure you have backed up everything you want to keep on a cd or a backup hard-drive that is separate from your computer. @themarketingmother I need help. When I go on system restore, I choose my date and I set it back to April 27th. When everything shuts down and comes back on it says "System restore could not be complete". Iv'e done this for about 4 dates and it still wont work. Why won't it work?

Hello 98nfsmw98, just run through possible things it could be (including the obvious ones!)

1. have you clicked on the little arrows at side of where says 'November 2008' which take you to other months??

2. On the 'Welcome to System Restore' first page it has a link on left-bottom saying 'System Restore Settings' - there is a slider there that limits the amount of disc space you allow... I'm NOT a 'techie' but sometimes checking and altering these little things do the trick. Good Luck.

joselito4you, I'm sorry but I just don't know what's happened. It sounds the sort of thing you're going to need offline help with from your local computer shop. Having said that, I am NOT a techie person, so try asking in forums if you still have the problem.

playaz030 -1. you have to sort it out with cust. service of your telephone co. 2. You'd just need to reformat the hard-drive to 'wipe' it. Although to actually get rid of the data it's not as simple as that (when reformatted the data is still there, it's just waiting to be overwritten), but if your just going to use it to start again from scratch (i.e. having to re-install the operating system, then all the updates, programs, etc) then reformatting would be the easiest way

I'm sorry but I don't know. But have you checked your 'Recycle Bin'?? Most files should go in there if you deleted them by accident.

re: system restore. I do know that it deletes Skype.

Just replied but think deleted my reply, so: skype is really good. You can make free telephone calls to anywhere in the world to anyone who also has downloaded skype. You just need a microphone and speakers on your computer (obviously!).

Use it if you are a marketer, & have a conversation with 'an expert' in your niche giving good info. You can record these calls using skype (believe it makes mp3s and then give away or sell the recording. Skype's feee to download and use. google it.

Hello Poosy2,

Difficult to help without being there, but try starting in safemode & maybe you can get browser to open - I've just typed in 'how to start computer in safe mode' in the youtube 'search' box above my video and it has brought up a lot of videos, so you'll probably find a few good ones there. The system restore says that you won't lose downloads. When I've done it everything was fine except for Skype, which had disappeared. Remember, you can always 'undo' the restore if you want to.

PLEASE NOTE! I think some (not many but SOME) programs do get deleted by system restore. If you have kept all downloads in folders in your documents (Highly Recommended from personal experience)then you won't have a problem - just re-install again. Help to note down tho' which programs you have installed before you do the S.Restore ('short pencil's worth more than long memory'!)

NOTE! Use good anti-virus software it's worth the money! I personally use 'Panda' - 3 years & its been fantastic.
