    Customer Reviews:

I have been a musician for over 25 years and decided to pick up playing lap steel. I didn't want to spend a lot of money if it ended up being something I didn't enjoy and at this price there wasn't much risk. Unlike the other reviewers mine showed up in perfect working order. • Fab lap!

  • I don't know which one to get the National New Yorker or the Lap King . Which one do you prefer ? Very good videos thanks. Ken

  • @FishyMcNuggets Hi Ken - The Lap King and the National are very different guitars, both great in their individual ways - the obvious advantage with the Lap King is that it is a top-notch modern instrument, reliable for gigging etc. I love the old New Yorkers but you never know when a 70+ year old electronic component decides to call it a day, so for gigging I only use the Lap Kings.

  • yikes, always liked lap steel guitar. the inhuman sustain and quirk. ordered one today and this is the extent of my research thus far hahaha. I've got my work cut out for me.

  • Appreciated such a nice instrument well played bravo

  • @ganjaking187 G minor: DGDGBbD, low to high. I think I had tuned up to Ab minor on that video, but it's the G minor shape. Glad you like it - I use that tuning most of the time.

  • yah it sounds great, ive been looking to buy a lap for awhile now to ad some extra flavor to my music. how much did you pay for this baby?

  • hey is that red box a tremolo foot step?

    It sounds good

  • Yep - it's a T-Rex Tremster.

  • Nice sound. What tuning is this?

  • G minor - DGDGBbD, low to high (I might have it tuned to Ab minor, but the same format as G minor)

Thanks for getting back to me! Jason Lollar warned me that the Charlie Christians are naturally a bit more bassy but are also a bit noisy. Have you found this? I am trying to decide between the Charlie and the Supro for my lap steel.

  • put some shoes on ya HIPPIE! hhaha, thanks for the demo.

  • thanks for the info :)

  • how much is that guitar ???

  • Prices are on the Lap King website.

  • Once again, great playing, great tunes and a great guitar.

I don't think its sound is to big for your amp,

instead I would start with removing all the tone-bars from your amp :-)

  • Superb!

Sweet & very rich sound from your new steel, Fred!

  • Great guitar, Fred, and lovely playing. Thanks for the demo!
