eh.. while i like the art, i hate it at the same time. compared to the original art i think they made claude and rena look like they are about 12 years old. they made rena look little too in the anime :/

While the game was excellent in it's original form, the remake was drastically reduced in natural difficulty and the voice acting was anime cliche and poor. Replacement of original character art for cheap renditions for portayal conveniences was unwise as well, most of the people who will play this will be expecting the 1999 masterpiece.

I love that the remake is just so immersing with all the added voice acting and the fact that the character designs changed to a more Anime feel. This truly is one of the hidden gems and great game experiences of all time, a past classic that should never be forgotten and played by everyone, generation to generation.

@staroceanmasterfan1 the game never froze for me and the voices really arent that bad. the female characters sometimes are annoying, the rest is acceptable. dias and ernest even have awesome voice actors. and what has been added, reallly? triple attack, some effects reworked, portraits added, some cinematics added.

and they fucked up the portraits and cinematics. i am not happy for that.

the anime characters look 10 years younger than their drawn counterparts from the ogirinal, rena used to be a lot cuter and charming in her original portrait, the 3 attack system makes many parts of the game too easy, biggest crime:

they did NOT speed up Dias' normal attack which means its still useless.

As to why the artist for each project changed there apperance slightly... it's called artistic license each artist sees the same thing alil differently and some styles work fine for a video game but not so well for an anime so they change it alil. Also no two different artists draw exactly the same so there are some differences when a new team takes over sorry if that dosent help but best I can do

Second Story/Second Evolution is definately where the series peaked. Til End of Time and Last Hope can't hold a candle to it.

@LostMercenary99 I dont know. Til End of Time to me was unbelievably amazing! Don't get me wrong, I love this one as well, but from my experience with the series, Til End of Time was the peak. And as there really is only the four main entries, I can't say it was the peak just yet and say everything went downhill from there because we've only had one game since then and it could have just been a slump. Even then though, as sad as it is, Last Hope is still one of the better rpgs of the current gen

- First, either equip a Meteor Ring. You can find this in Eluria Tower and other places as well.

- Or a Gale Earring. You can also find this in Eluria Tower and other places, but i think it's for girls only.

Um, I dunno other methods, but I only rely on these methods. I get alot of Meteor Rings when I progress thru the game. Happy finding the rings!

I don't know what happened after the secon evolution. I remember playing it and getting hooked even in the same year of 98 when we were flooded with RPG's out the ass. Somehow this remained one of the best.Three and up doesn't seem like star ocean anymore but instead final fantasy in space.

@Persona3Line Thats what made me angry about the Manga and TV series, they went into the transporter and...that's the end. What a horrible cliffhanger. The only way to find out what happens is if you buy the Japanese Drama CDs which act as an ending for both of them, the problem is I don't speak Japanese, that made me furious.

I don't -know- this as a fact, since I haven't played The Last Hope, but it's a persistent universe from First Departure up through Till the End of Time. Claude (in the localized U.S. PSX version, at least) is explicitly Ronixis' son, even if it has no story value, and the meta-setting of the games is the same (even though the games themselves all take place on different planets).

@dannywolfpero You are wrong they are all pretty connected. SO2 takes place 20 years after SO1 and the character from SO1 "Ronixis J. Kenny" is SO2 main guy character "Crawd C. Kenny" father. SO3 takes place in the year SD772 which is 406 years after SO2. (side note: SO blue sphere takes 2 years after SO2) And of course SO4 is the prequel of the whole series which starts from year SD10.

@ijair123 not sure how to help you. whenever I'm at that part Claude and Aston start spamming their best attacks to keep them from moving while Celine spells them down ever 5 seconds and Rena keeps Aston's help up since Claude's attack keeps him from being hit much.

then you just have to work on bringing them close so claude can attack them both with a normal attack to stop them from moving and keep at it to the end.

I am almost finished in this game! I was about to battle Lucifer when my PSP was out of battery then the PSP slipped on my hand...
