I've been playing this gamne since I was maybe 10, 11, but it was more casually than anything. Enough to learn the special moves, a few small combos and figure out the basic timing and counter attacks for fighting each character. But I NEVER thought you could achieve so many fast combos in the original like this man. This opened my eyes, I didn't realize you could get more than a 4-hit combo with any character, even Ken.
long ago ive played a street fighter where ken had a super hurricane kick from one edge of the screen to the other end ,,,than i never saw this again in my entire life ,,and no one on you tube too seem to know about it ,,it use to kick honda like 8 10 times in the head ,,,so if someone know about this or have a link pliz send me ,,,it was in arcade ,,ive never seen this on console
@zekidz There were several "hacks" of the game. I remember seeing some when I was living in Madrid, Spain (1993-1995). M.A.M.E. has some of them available, if you are interested. I remember one version being called "Rainbow Edition", or something similar.
@dsm6yrs hi dms thank you for your reply ...wat is M.A.M.E I WANT SOME VIDEO OF IT IF U CAN POST PLEASE ,,,when u say if i want some of them u mean ,the game or some video of it ,,i would like to get a video ,,and getting the game would be best of all ,but i think only arcade can do this ..thanks for all hope to get news from u soon
@zekidz I used to play those cracked versions in Mexico -where anything can be barely (i)legal. At some point the crowd lost interest in SFII' so someone started messing up with the game. At first it was stuff like air hurricane kicks, Chun-Li throwing an hadoken from her lightning kick, or four fireballs that seemed to come out from balrog's armpit during his dashing uppercuts. That made the game kinda interesting, but... (cont.)
@avengerfinger24 ...it ended with no "locks" at all. Those locks -ken/ryu/akuma's freezing after an hadoken or being capable of throwing only one "power" at once- made the battles well balanced matches, leaving you and your skills against the world, but having no locks at all meant stuff like children shaking the joystick and tapping punch buttons while playing Guile to fill the whole screen with sonicbooms... awful. By then anyone could beat the game and challenges were just a bad idea.
hey dude long time since i saw your video first time, you should try guille combos they are amazing too, but you probably need a stick control like the arcade's ones, i have one and you can do great things with guille because you know when you make a sonic boom you still moving inmediatly not as with the hadooken that let ken or ryu paralyzed for a moment, so you make a sonic boom near the oponnent an you still kicking or something its very nice, well great video (Y)
@tetanos204 Guile combos work great with the same setup I use for Ken. I have not had time to put anything like that together though. I agree wholeheartedly about Guile. He is my other favorite SFII character.
@ouayang18hotmail A true combo can't be blocked if the first hit lands. That is what makes them worth learning. That said, the CPU does an aweful lot of blocking, as evidenced in the video.
@stretchypants123 LOL - one of the E. Honda rounds is a second faster than the quickest round against Chun Li. Let's avoid using the same verb for Honda though. :-)
@andrewdaniele Exactly. Although they do not look as impressive as 30+ hits, I get far more satisfaction out of a good SFII combo. Thanks for your comment!
Hi i think a lot of people have been asking this but pls help
I dont understand how to link a JP or a JK(SK) To a middle attack. People said that it is necessary to press a fierce attack as well but it doesnt work. Pls help
@CloudSyler Some characters can do it, others can't. If you are using Ken, for example, you would press the short kick, followed by pressing down+short kink+strong punch (all 3 at the same time, and timing is critical). You would substitute strong for fierce if you want the crouching fierce to come out. If you ever read this, I hope my description helps.
@SDSOverfiend I have been playing for a long time. It is strange to think that, while my grand parents enjoyed board games and cards, I will probably be playing stuff like this when I am an old man. :-)
@dsm6yrs Me too lmao.. When she started to understand video games i showed her what Daddy used to play all on emulation so that she will understand the basis and it worked. She does'nt discriminate graphics.
that knee dragon punch combo is nice, but I cant do it on the PSP, my finger cant reach the shoulder button in time! and I cant play with Ken/Ryu with medium kick set as X button
Thanks for your comments! You can only 2-in-1 a special with the knee in Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Super Street Fighter 2 and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. If you are trying to do it in World Warrior or Champion Edition, it will not work. The knee combos are among my all time favorites. :-)
Your combos are quite tight.. Especially your build-up before the uppercut. Do you play any other street-fighter games other than SF2? Interesting video by the way.

Well for one, I wasnt even asking you a question. secondly, stop responding to my comments because you're clearly too dumb to read and comprehend them.
@Akujitsu so i'm thinking to myself what the fuck is this dickhead talking about, then I realise, you're talking about a discussion I had with someone 7 months ago.
wow... just.. wow.. you're a "27 year old" trying to start a dead discussion about a PS1 pad. LOL. You are, without a doubt one of the dumbest people i've ever come across on the internet. I bet you're a real hit with the ladies, LOL.
@turnbacktime Actually I have a gf.. so yes I'd like to think I am. Any other pointless overused internet "putdown" you'd like to use? Maybe that shes a blow up doll? Or maybe that I live in my mothers basement? Cmon everyone knows you were gonna say shit like that next. Personally I could give a fuck what morons like you think, you're insignificant to me, since you can't even come up with a creative insult, let alone look up information before making yourself look like a jackass.
I was so insignificant that you were compelled to start a dead argument (of over 7months), over something as trivial as a fucking "CONTROL PAD". That's an insult in itself and the fact that you're 27 fucking years old is just pathetic. I'm not "creating" insults I'm telling you who you are.
@turnbacktime I just think its funny as fuck that you say I'm "Without a doubt the dumbest person" you ever come across, yet YOU started the conversation about the PS1controller, didn't even give the right info, and have the nerve to call me the dumb one, like the amount of time (7 months) justifies your stupidity. Heh personally it seems to me you are the dumb one here. If you wanna call me late, I'll accept that. At least I wasn't the stupid one with the wrong info.
@Akujitsu Yes, you are without a doubt one of the dumbest people I've ever had the misfortune to converse with on the internet.
I started a discussion 7months ago which ended 7months ago. you on the other hand felt it necessary to start a worthless argument over a control pad, based on that 7month old discussion, thinking that I have even the slightest interest in anything you have to say.
You really think you're intelligent when its blatantly obvious that your grammar proves your idiocy.
really? i cant play at all like that all, never really have i changed my button settings other then on sf4 when i switch where all three kicks and punches are to the right side and heavy punch and kick on the left side since i dont like rotating and pressing a button on the same side for a ultra...but good shit man
In SFII:WW, SFII:CE, and SFII:HF (the 3 SFII games made on the CPS1 hardware), characters with a rapid short kick could chain it into a strong or fierce punch. It seems that this only works, however, if you chain a standing kick to a crouching punch or if you chain a crouching kick to a standing punch.
In my experience, the characters who seem to most greatly benefit from using the CPS1 chain are Ken, Ryu, and Guile.
Here is an example of how the CPS1 chain is performed: crouch and hit the short kick button, stand and hit the short kick and fierce punch buttons simultaneously. Done correctly, the punch will come out so quickly after the kick, that it cannot be blocked.
Once you understand how the CPS1 chain works and the timing involved, practice adding 2-in-1 specials off the fierce or strong punch to land truly devastating combos.
Try a Google search on "CPS1 chain" for more information. Good luck!
Oh I know.....back in like grade school when I first learned to play this game, I saw a guy doing what seemed to be endless chains and this is probably what he was doing. People accused him of cheating....but as you said, their all legit. This is why CPS2 was created, to counteract all this as well.
I don't think CPS2 was created to counteract this, because it was more likely just the next hardware step for Capcom, but you are correct that this "glitch" was no longer present in the CPS2-created SFII games. :-)
The combo employs the infamous CPS1 chain. Here are the moves: cross-up (over-head) jump kick, crouch and deliver 2 short kicks, let go of crouch and immediately press both short and strong at the same time, as you then prepare to 2-in-1 the hurricane kick with the standing strong that should have just linked onto the crouching shorts that preceded it. I know it sounds a bit tricky, and it can be until you practice it for awhile. If you still need help, research CPS1 chains. Good luck!
so opponents cant block if you jump in with a midair fierce punch and then jump towards them again for another midair fierce piench followed by a huricane kick?
If you do not land the punches in quick succession, the 2nd punch can be blocked. If you hit the punch deep, and are able to hit it again quickly enough after the rebound off the ground, however, the 2 punches cannot be blocked.
I assume you are talking about the combo where I jump in with a punch, rebound off the ground with another air punch, and 2-in-1 a hurricane kick directly after.
It isn't too bad. You just hold diagonal up, deliver your air punch, while continuing to hold diagonal up. As you rebound off the ground, immediately hit punch again. It is all about the timing, but with even a small amount of practice, anyone can do it.
If you are inquiring about the combo where I perform a standing short, followed by a crouching fierce & dragon punch 2-in-1, you perform the combo as follows:
While standing, press short.
Immediately after pressing short, press down, immediately followed by pressing fierce and short at the same time.
Next, 2-in-1 the crouching fierce that comes out into a dragon punch.
Most of the video is Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting (aka Street Fighter II: Turbo); however, there are a few brief clips of Super Street Fighter II: Turbo
If you know how to perform a 2-in-1, it would be the same, except for the need to quickly perform it in the air. Just jump, press punch, and as you are pressing punch, be in the process of entering the motion for the hurricane (default: down, down-back, back, kick). Hope that helps.
Dude thats awesome, thanks for posting this video, now i can remember how i use to play !
Back in the Championship Edition era i was untouchable, and this was why.
I dabbled in Alpha a bit, but i quit playing competitively just when the first Super came in, i didn't like it at first !
Now returning to SF with HD remix, clearly people have been practicing ! You can't get away with half of these combos if they are blocked. But this is some of the pzaz i need to inject back in to my gameplay !
try jumping back with jab with short spinkick going backwards. make sure u hit them with the spin kick, ryu will knock down the opponent but ken will suck them in backwards...
nice work man. iv been playing sf3 3rd strike for so long,iv started playing super turbo, and i find executing combos a bit harder because the timing seems more critical.
I think you are right about the timing. After playing so many Street Fighter games over the years, I have always felt more rewarded by pulling a nice combo in SFII than in any other Street Fighter game. Lengthy combos in SFIV, for example, are so easy, that they do not feel special.
yeah, sf2 combos dont seem to be pree set like in sf3 and above, and you have to be more precise on your timing and every move that the combo consists off.
That jumping cross over heavy kick, light kick into a triple dragon was sweet. I used to do a similar combo back in the day but I'd put a knee in the middle of it.
I love how in sf2hf/sf2t you could do an air hurricane after a regular move. It opens the door to so many combo possibilities; but they had to take it away in ssf.
Thanks for your comments! I could never get used to the lag in HF on XBOX live. For awhile, I was playing HD Remix online a lot, and I still do occasionally. For this video, which was played in M.A.M.E., I used a PS1 controller with dual box pro converter for my laptop. On XBOX Live, I just use the standard 360 pad.
You should try Dee Jay and Ryu in SSF2T, do some cross over combos, then try out Ken in HD Remix if you have it since his combos have been way improved ;D
very nice video i love this game specially at snes and when i played at arcade i remember i did many combos too, i remember very good the "air punch -punch - hurricane" haha its brutal
actually i have a small but very good collection of snes friend, many clasic cartridges and arcade controllers for snes to play fighting games, im from mexico and now i get good games at the bazaars for near 15 dlls and im getting more :) i would like to play with you sometime ;)
Glad you like it! The standing round house 2-in-1 has always been there - no dip switch. To land it on a standing opponent, you should first know that it only works against tall characters, and your distance must be very precise. The standing round house 2-in-1 can be a great pressure-type counter. Example: Guile jumps in, you do a standing round house when he is above you and 2-in-1 it into a slow fireball. This knocks him out of the air, and the fire ball will hit him or force a block.
Same as joystick (for default: right, down, down/right + punch), but it takes a bit more practice on a control pad. I have been using control pads for this game since the SNES version. I have not used the joystick since SF2 was in the arcades.
nice but there is one awesome combo I think you missed. It works on some chars...Crossup hard kick, crouching short standing short cr short to hard hurricane kick.
Your keyboard combo vid is quite impressive - 5 stars. No, I am not using auto-fire or any tricks. I play using M.A.M.E. and my old Playstation 1 controller, with a dual box pro converter for my Laptop.
do people still play this in like evo or something?

I don't think CPS2 was created to counteract this, because it was more likely just the next hardware step for Capcom, but you are correct that this "glitch" was no longer present in the CPS2-created SFII games. :-)
dsm6yrs 2 years ago
Yeah, not SPECIFICALLY to counter act this, but as you said....the next step up for Capcom.
egg64 2 years ago
Yep, I should have known that was what you meant.
dsm6yrs 2 years ago
how do you do combo at 0:32
1DarkTemplar 2 years ago
The combo employs the infamous CPS1 chain. Here are the moves: cross-up (over-head) jump kick, crouch and deliver 2 short kicks, let go of crouch and immediately press both short and strong at the same time, as you then prepare to 2-in-1 the hurricane kick with the standing strong that should have just linked onto the crouching shorts that preceded it. I know it sounds a bit tricky, and it can be until you practice it for awhile. If you still need help, research CPS1 chains. Good luck!

I like the ken combos

so opponents cant block if you jump in with a midair fierce punch and then jump towards them again for another midair fierce piench followed by a huricane kick?
SonicBoom91 2 years ago
If you do not land the punches in quick succession, the 2nd punch can be blocked. If you hit the punch deep, and are able to hit it again quickly enough after the rebound off the ground, however, the 2 punches cannot be blocked.
dsm6yrs 2 years ago
hey, i'm ryu player and wonder how you did you do the one at 7:14? the jump kick, low short kick, low high kick, hadouken? thanks
hayato10 2 years ago
Jump kick, hold down to crouch, press short, then quickly press roundhousehouse, as you complete the motion for the fireball to perform a 2-in-1.
This one is easy, and you can probably pick it up with a few minutes of practice - good luck!
dsm6yrs 2 years ago
thanks! i'll give that a try.
hayato10 2 years ago
How do you do the double jump fierce punch hits like that? I thought that was something that could only be done in Mortal Combat.
masir 2 years ago
I assume you are talking about the combo where I jump in with a punch, rebound off the ground with another air punch, and 2-in-1 a hurricane kick directly after.
It isn't too bad. You just hold diagonal up, deliver your air punch, while continuing to hold diagonal up. As you rebound off the ground, immediately hit punch again. It is all about the timing, but with even a small amount of practice, anyone can do it.
dsm6yrs 2 years ago
but then, first you execute the shoryuken, and after any punch???????
its one reverse movement???
XpancowX 2 years ago
If you are inquiring about the combo where I perform a standing short, followed by a crouching fierce & dragon punch 2-in-1, you perform the combo as follows:
While standing, press short.
Immediately after pressing short, press down, immediately followed by pressing fierce and short at the same time.
Next, 2-in-1 the crouching fierce that comes out into a dragon punch.
Hopefully, that helps. Good luck!
dsm6yrs 2 years ago
hey dude...how to do light kick, hard punch crouching ,and shoryuken??
thats impossible! (my version is street fighter II turbo:Hyper fighting,is clone of the champion edition)
if possible send me the link of that version?
(for mame)
thanks!
XpancowX 2 years ago
Press short, followed by down+fierce+short, quickly perform the dragon punch motion and press any punch. It took me a while to master it.
dsm6yrs 2 years ago
look into CPS1 Chains.
Standamanwhocan 2 years ago
Exactly.
dsm6yrs 2 years ago
and...what version is this????
XpancowX 2 years ago
Most of the video is Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting (aka Street Fighter II: Turbo); however, there are a few brief clips of Super Street Fighter II: Turbo

I will try to learn

Very sweet combos. This is my all time favourite game and the vid certainly did it justice. :)

Thanks for your comments! This old game is still my favorite fighting game by far, but I guess I am quite old school. :-)

pls can u tell me hw u combined jump punch with d hurricane kick
agali1 2 years ago
If you know how to perform a 2-in-1, it would be the same, except for the need to quickly perform it in the air. Just jump, press punch, and as you are pressing punch, be in the process of entering the motion for the hurricane (default: down, down-back, back, kick). Hope that helps.
dsm6yrs 2 years ago
Dude thats awesome, thanks for posting this video, now i can remember how i use to play !
Back in the Championship Edition era i was untouchable, and this was why.
I dabbled in Alpha a bit, but i quit playing competitively just when the first Super came in, i didn't like it at first !
Now returning to SF with HD remix, clearly people have been practicing ! You can't get away with half of these combos if they are blocked. But this is some of the pzaz i need to inject back in to my gameplay !
DonJuanDeMarco2 2 years ago
Yeah, HD remix has been a lot of fun. Unfortunately for me, my XBOX 360 has broken again :-(
Thanks for your comments!
dsm6yrs 2 years ago
try jumping back with jab with short spinkick going backwards. make sure u hit them with the spin kick, ryu will knock down the opponent but ken will suck them in backwards...
shottajenny 2 years ago
Funny, I wondered how to do that. Now I know - thanks!

dayum thats sweet

dsm6yrs 2 years ago
nice work man. iv been playing sf3 3rd strike for so long,iv started playing super turbo, and i find executing combos a bit harder because the timing seems more critical.
nyccarini 2 years ago
I think you are right about the timing. After playing so many Street Fighter games over the years, I have always felt more rewarded by pulling a nice combo in SFII than in any other Street Fighter game. Lengthy combos in SFIV, for example, are so easy, that they do not feel special.
Thanks for your comments!
dsm6yrs 2 years ago
yeah, sf2 combos dont seem to be pree set like in sf3 and above, and you have to be more precise on your timing and every move that the combo consists off.
nyccarini 2 years ago
That jumping cross over heavy kick, light kick into a triple dragon was sweet. I used to do a similar combo back in the day but I'd put a knee in the middle of it.
mrchaotiq 3 years ago
Very cool - thanks for the comments!
dsm6yrs 3 years ago
I love how in sf2hf/sf2t you could do an air hurricane after a regular move. It opens the door to so many combo possibilities; but they had to take it away in ssf.
killerecho 3 years ago
Yeah, the air hurricane combos are sweet. Ken still can land them decently in SSF, but they were definately more brutal in HF.
dsm6yrs 3 years ago
all the combos are similar.
didnt kno it was that ez to dizzy in sf2ww
good stuff.
dwEEb813 3 years ago
Thanks for the comments! This is not sf2ww. It is sf2hf, with a bit of ssf2t.
dsm6yrs 3 years ago
u have some great skills, i probably wudn't last 5 secs goin up against sum1 like u. it wouldnt be a fight, just utter domination...
01Parky 3 years ago
I don't know - I lose my share on XBOX live. Thanks for the comments!
dsm6yrs 3 years ago
Do you still play HF on xbox live? Also do you play AE on xbox live? I heard there is still a large amount of players on AE.
BTW great stuff which arcade stick(s) were used when performing these combos?
Thx
AFernandez305 3 years ago
Thanks for your comments! I could never get used to the lag in HF on XBOX live. For awhile, I was playing HD Remix online a lot, and I still do occasionally. For this video, which was played in M.A.M.E., I used a PS1 controller with dual box pro converter for my laptop. On XBOX Live, I just use the standard 360 pad.
dsm6yrs 3 years ago
You should try Dee Jay and Ryu in SSF2T, do some cross over combos, then try out Ken in HD Remix if you have it since his combos have been way improved ;D

Yeah, SSF2THDR is awesome!

very nice video i love this game specially at snes and when i played at arcade i remember i did many combos too, i remember very good the "air punch -punch - hurricane" haha its brutal
tetanos204 3 years ago
Yeah, I remember paying nearly $80 for the SNES cartridge back in the day. Thanks for your comments - good times. :-)
dsm6yrs 3 years ago
actually i have a small but very good collection of snes friend, many clasic cartridges and arcade controllers for snes to play fighting games, im from mexico and now i get good games at the bazaars for near 15 dlls and im getting more :) i would like to play with you sometime ;)
tetanos204 3 years ago
That is cool. I too have quite a collection of cartridges for various old systems. :-)
dsm6yrs 3 years ago
Awesome display of skill!!!!
How do you do those standing RH combos?? It is always been like that or there's a dip-switch setting?
Anyways, you move so silly fast,it's scary...
StriderRyu7 3 years ago
Glad you like it! The standing round house 2-in-1 has always been there - no dip switch. To land it on a standing opponent, you should first know that it only works against tall characters, and your distance must be very precise. The standing round house 2-in-1 can be a great pressure-type counter. Example: Guile jumps in, you do a standing round house when he is above you and 2-in-1 it into a slow fireball. This knocks him out of the air, and the fire ball will hit him or force a block.
dsm6yrs 3 years ago
ryu, ken and akuma are the soooo easy to play as.
Try making a montage as guile, zangief or get turbo and play as cammy.
Rogueftw93 3 years ago
I have a lot of footage on Guile, I have just never compiled it.
dsm6yrs 3 years ago
noob till u can do the red fireball! J/k man your a fricken beast..that's like combo's only extremely hard cpu's usually do, impressive.
And yes the red fireball can be done in regular SFII just extremely rare.
operations1000 3 years ago
Thanks for your comments, and LOL about the red fire ball. :-)
dsm6yrs 3 years ago
how you do the shoryuken on the ps1 controller?
luiz0regis0bassist 3 years ago
Same as joystick (for default: right, down, down/right + punch), but it takes a bit more practice on a control pad. I have been using control pads for this game since the SNES version. I have not used the joystick since SF2 was in the arcades.
dsm6yrs 3 years ago
~thanks
luiz0regis0bassist 3 years ago
nice but there is one awesome combo I think you missed. It works on some chars...Crossup hard kick, crouching short standing short cr short to hard hurricane kick.
hoodloom22 3 years ago
Yeah, there are a lot of great combos. In the video I just chose to include my favorites and the ones I use the most. :-)
dsm6yrs 3 years ago

dsm6yrs 3 years ago
These are all against the cpu....these could be pulled off in SF II Regular and SF Championship Edition as well.
zaljereck 3 years ago
Except for the combos using the standing forward (knee) strike and those involving the air hurricanes, yes.
dsm6yrs 3 years ago
are you usign autofire? Check out my combo video
larssonk22 3 years ago
Your keyboard combo vid is quite impressive - 5 stars. No, I am not using auto-fire or any tricks. I play using M.A.M.E. and my old Playstation 1 controller, with a dual box pro converter for my Laptop.
dsm6yrs 3 years ago
Is this Hyper Fighting cause i know that game was broken
TurlesZero 3 years ago
Yes, it is the U.S. arcade version of SFII: HF, except, of course, for the few clips of Super Turbo.
