Super late to the party (like always) but I wanted to reach out to you. I'm very interested in visibility!! It is my main focus to align with people and make them more visible to society. Right now I explore with how to do that through social media marketing, design and advertising. Maybe we can connect?
i just found out yesterday that there will be the (a)sexual documentary showing in seattle for the gay/lesbian film festival tomorrow and david jay with be there! i think this is a fantastic way to get asexuality out there and get people talking about it. i'm excited to see what the film is all about. <3
I try to spread awareness on any forum I am on by responding to appropriate threads. Threads about sexual orientation. Ect ect I have a thread right now on a predominantly male forum of me answering questions. Which came about from people taking over the "what is your sexual orientation" thread.
@AlorenNS Audition video should be coming out in a few days, still working out the details. xD But ooh- that is an awesome way!! Non-ace forums! I love that! :D
Hi Southie! I don't tell many people I'm ace. People I am around are so negative about anything non-heteronormative (did I spell that right?) and have been nasty to me, it would be a waste of time. However when people spread rumors about others being gay I will mention that I am asexual and that I have no reason to make fun of or spread rumors about someone being gay.
@bibbeny It's all right not to come out, especially since there are plenty of ways to anonymously spread visibility. That sucks about people being so negative towards you. :/ *Offers hugs*
@Merrymer I'm out! There is nothing more to hide. More people in the family know and I am now ready to answer "I'm asexual" when they ask. The most important people in my life know. Others, not so much but if asked then I will tell. I might not carry a flag or wear purple t -shirts, (okay I look great in purple and I do own one but not for asexual reasons) but it's who I am. Plus, I'm a big guy, (HUGE) and former Marine. I can handle anything!
I think articles in newspapers and magazines are always a good way to spread visibility because a lot of people read them.
I am currently writing an article about the asexual community myself, to appear in an e-magazine during Asexual Awareness Week and hope to get some attention...
Oh my goodness, I feel so honored! o wo (nightriver129 here) I'm really glad you found some time to vlog. GOOD LUCK WITH APPS!
I fully agree with your view on who visibility gets out to. Before I came to the realization I was gender queer and gray-A I was still wanting to learn more and get the word out to as many people as possible.
As far as promoting visibility, talk to friends, bring it up wherever when different sexualities are mentioned. T-shirts are great conversation starters. :D
@misty219 Thank you!! Yes- it's not just asexual visibility that's needed: there are a lot of minority communities that need to increase awareness as well. Awesome suggestions! ^___^
@TheAnxiousWriter I haven't posted in longer than you have. xD Or...y'know...delays in replying to comments too. xD Thank you for staying on, Holly. <3
Large scale posters along busy-ish walkways always grab my attention. If I saw something that stood out and mentioned terms I hadn't really heard before in that context, I'd probably be curious.
I wrote a story on asexuality for one of my journalism classes and tried to get it posted in the university newspaper--maybe something like that, to get coverage to wider groups of people?
@girlygirl3721 Ooh...that'd be a great option, actually, since I don't know anyone who's ever had asexuality even vaguely mentioned in a high school Sex Ed class, for instance.

People already make ace T-shirts I think, they seem to be a good way to spread visibility casually.
