One of the few weaknesses I can see with robots is that they will sensitive to EMP environments so the shock-wave from a nuke or a EMP pulse generated from a non-nuclear platform can disable a robot. heck the russians and chinese are developing super EMP as we speak
@4rM4M3nt But then you would have to nuke everything. I'm sure they will have some sort of protection against that. So we would have to outsmart them, but then again they will be quicker and much smarter as the processing power increases..
There ARE going to be radical changes in our future that much is certain. Technological progress is going to happen and it can be a beautiful thing...a magical thing...but it's always good to watch it closely, lest it turn on you and bite.
@standupgun Once a student approached his teacher and asked "I'm thinking of getting married. What should I do?", to which the teacher replied "Do what you wanna do. Either way, you're going to regret it." ;)
the thing about ai is it still runs on a system of 0 and 1 like all computers built, off or on, it can be turned off regardless of it's function, it can be jammed, it can freeze and lock up if in the wrong environment or if it has been fed a nasty computer virus, it can loophole on it's self if left to run autonomously till it extends all possibilities, and it's hardware and software can inevitably fail if left to sit too long or left to run too long, treads can jam so can legs
machines can only do what we tell them to do, they cant reason and figure out, well okay my left leg is destroyed or there is a large rock jammed into my tred that has caused my Axel to come undone and now i am permanently fixed there, the other thing is hydrolic lines and servos screw up all the time, i have operated a lot of bobcats where i have seen a line come undone and there is a major hang up because now the equipment is loosing oil fast. i have also seen even the best equipment freeze
one very final point, swords are an ROV remotely operated vehicle, and are controlled by a crew from a storage housing or naval vessel they are an unmanned combat platform which is not autonomous.
Bullshit, War has no future because with war WE have no future.
We can enjoy the preciousness of enjoying life today and preserve the wonderful Earth and all the living creatures, or keep thinking the world is going to be like halo, terminator and the matrix. it's all about choice.
@101101101777 but you have to consider whos controlling the world ? the people dont make the decisions to go to war and spend billions on developing war machines... the governments do
@101101101777 Its in Human nature to Fight. War never changes. For there to be no war, The people would have to change their nature. Somthing that will never happen.
I once had a dream that everyone around me was running from robots. It lead to me researching a bit about them. Cyborgs are already being built. All sorts of bots are being made. Pepsi makes them, the military, and many many organizations make them and they are beginning to look more and more like my dream.
I just realized, I am probably being over mellow dramatic because if good people have robots of their own, (which in all likely hood they will) Thinks wont be as simple as I previously stated. Instead of right to bear arms maybe it would be right to bear robotics lol And not to mention, I'm sure a lot of people will be partially cybernetic in 50 years. So maybe they will be able to match the power of state robots blow for blow.
Its not the robots we have to worry about persay, its the few that will be governing systems to control these indestructible drones. Drones with absolute obedience to immoral and selfish people. We are meticulously constructing our own lethal foe, how poetic. IF they decide to let people live they will be oppressed to the utmost. Any resistance would have to be elite in efficiency. I guess it will be the true contest of man vs. machine. I think we all know how it will conclude.
people dont freak out about the idea of humans with guns....so why remote control robots?...its just another bit of equipment between you and the trigger at the end of the day....as long as AI isn't given too much self control.
Ahhh. Isn't THAT great to hear in these difficult times. No matter HOW shitfull; how barely endurable our debt-enslavement becomes. To know we can still look forward to a "future of combat". What great progress we humans are making. God bless those heartless robot killers. And God bless America!

What we need are handheld, EMP pulse devices, that can be directed at a specific target...

I remember when I heard about how James Olds and Peter Milner did with rats, I thought that it would be a short stroll to remote controlled animals.
I used to tell people it was on the way. Then, John K. Chapin made an honest man out of me.
Now I'm not saying that the human race is going to follow a borg-like hivemind, with Google as it's nerve center. I'm just saying it's possible.

it happens to the best of what equipment has to offer unless constantly serviced.

North Korea, has "Unmanned" autonomous sentry gun units that have been programmed to kill, but they ARE stationary. For now.
These sword units that we are using are primitive and still operated by remote. But mark my words; These are only the very beginning.
