  • YOU have one of the very few videos that has over 10Kviews, 74 likes, and NO dislikes at all... consider this as a milestone, my friend! ;)

BTW second time im gonna watch walkthrough :D

i just love it too much, i suppose..

  • @POWned911 yeah. It's been a long time since your last comment. I don't even know if you still watching my newest uploads. Please enjoy the game AGAIN, my friend.

  • @Acantophis3rd

the big reason for this inacitvity is becuase i had too much off time at that time, and i had enough time to KEEP watching your video's (especially on school). and with from the fact we live with 6 in a small house with 2 shetty pc's, this is also the reason why i am trying to get myself a decent laptop. and when i will get that jewel, i promise i will watch EVERY video you posted!

  • really like it! the good old times.....

  • This game is so old, yet has one of the best music I've heard o_O

I bet If I were to play this when it came out I would nostalgia soooo bad over that OST (if I wouldn't piss myself to death out of fear :D).

  • looks like nice piece of game ^^

  • I couldn't find any neutral interface implants at Radio Shack or Best Buy...D:

  • is bioshock based on system shock

  • @kolbymysterio619 Bioshock has been known to be a spiritual successor to System Shock. Heck, it was even made by most of the same guys who made System Shock in the first place. Even more interesting is that the working title for Bioshock was going to be System Shock 3, until it was decided to make a completely different story (the story of Rapture, the one we have now).

  • @reaperman2010 that is freakidy awesome

  • Comment removed

  • i dont remeber system shock 1 looking this good.

  • What did you use to record this? Fraps slows my game down terribly and the built-in recording function doesn't record microphone.

  • @Divvygogo I recordet the commentary separately on a digital camcorders audio recorder. You can also use audacity for this job. Don't ask me about the how-to with audacity. I don't know. Search the web instead for aeterna lets play guide.

  • Where do you get the remixed music?

  • Is it just me, or do you also find the intro's to 90's PC games better than the modern intro's, despite the latter looking so "nicer"?!

  • @HardWarUK agreed

  • I take it this is the CD version? Do you have to run this version through DOSBox as well?

  • @VergessenHeld its system shock portale, the cd version using modification. just google for it.

  • @VergessenHeld sry, i mean "system shock portable"

  • @Acantophis3rd What? What the hell is System Shock Portable?

  • @VergessenHeld You didn't used google? Did you?

  • @Acantophis3rd I did now. I've been exhausted the last week or so. My brain isn't working.

  • SS2 was one of my fave games of all time, I've never actually gotten through SS1 because I found the controls kind of cumbersome, so I looked at you play through the whole game.

SS1 was def. not a Doom clone.

You move like a modern FPS, up/down and viewing around. It may not be as smooth as a modern FPS but it was well advanced and much more than a Doom clone.

I also notice some of the level architecture/texture seems to have inspired some of the Dark Forces 1 (1995) Gfx.

    nice 1 !

    Thanks

  • How long was this game? How long did it take you to beat it?

  • @DWSimmy 10 hours. 1:30 minutes speedrun the second time. But I started the game multiple times in the last 17 years. I would count 200 hours then. ;)

  • The musci in your game is very diffrent!!!! My is some annoying sounds! What version of the game you have? Do you know where can i get it? I have the portable version. How do you move in this way with the mouse? Did you use a mod or something?

  • @MisterAAnderson

systemshock (dot) org got everything you need to know. I muted the original music and used my own later by mixing it over the gameplay videos.

  • @Acantophis3rd Did you use the cd version of the game? I have downloaded the portable version of the game from the site which you gave me - thank you. But there aren't really any clues there.

  • @MisterAAnderson Wow. How long did it take you to beat System Shock 2?

  • @DWSimmy I didn't try it yet becouse i still can't beat SS1. I will play it probably when i finish Thief 2 The Metal Age. Both work on the same engine.

  • @MisterAAnderson Alright, thanks

  • @MisterAAnderson do u know if any of the thief games work on dosbox?

  • @snufrozemaniah No they don't Windows 95 was released and there was no use for Looking Glass Studios to make a game on an old system, since everyone moved to Windows 95. So you're only hope is that an old game made on an old system will work, though if you're using a Mac Os X i'm afraid there are few alternatives other then getting a PC with Windows.

  • @snufrozemaniah That would depend on whether they run in Windows, or they run in DOS from Windows. For example, Crusader No Regret is a game which you could launch from Windows 95, but it would actually enter DOS mode before starting the game. You could start it from DOS without using Windows, too. But other games were designed to run IN Windows, and those will not work in DOS. You could use Virtual PC to install whatever version of Windows you need without messing up your main OS.

  • hey Joey, did you ever play the game Crime Cities? It was like the film "Fifth Element", with the flying cars and guns... but with missions like "Driver"....?

I only ever saw, and played, the DEMO. Never owned or pleyed the full game, sadly.

  • @Diablo666Daemon666

    never heard of it.

  • yeah it seems to be one of those games that was hard to find and that nobody really knew about. ive never seen a full version of the game. pity really because the demo was cool

  • hey i thought you had a time limit how come your disicions take to long

  • @brandstc1

I removed the time limit because I wanted to focus on the game, having fun, exploring everything without to rush. So, I decided to remove the time limit again. I never had the chance to mention it during my commentary.

  • @Acantophis3rd oh sorry bout that but what do you use to record your films cause i would like to add some laythroughs of some games i have

  • Hey how did you played this? I got the portable one but i cannot play with it

and with dosbox is too slow.

  • @BlackLionFilms I have teh same problem. I'd love to play this one after how much I loved System Shock 2.

  • so what the military grade neural implant do exactly?

  • @dragonheart333 Hmm nobody knows. I replied repliedRERERERERERERE I replied to this video and draw new conclusions.

  • @dragonheart333 Er...provide that lovley on-screen interface. Oh, and also allows you to run around in cyberspace.

The developers wanted a 'realistic' reason to why you had such a hardcore inventory system etc, to prove that you were not born with a abilty to install various types of software, receive emails and jack into cyberspace

  • oh ok thanks well i'm goint to play it then

  • what are you using to use the controls on this game

  • @purplespyro2k9

a keyboard :p The controls are not that hard to master.

  • controls are a bit hard to get use to on this game because you can't configure the controls

  • @purplespyro2k9

But you can use the DOSBOX keybinder (CTRL+F1) to change the keys on your keyboard

  • great idea by roleplaying! I just missed how you got the numbers 451 for the code.

  • @simonkex it's written in the note in the starting room

  • This game scared me when my cousin played this on his PC!

  • The music on my computer sounds crappy. How can i get it to sound like it does in this walk through?

  • You listen to the original soundtrack from 1994 ;) I only use remixes made in 2003-2006. Search my playlists.

  • @Xziz10ths its not like that he added the music later for the video purpose your just gonna have to deal with the music from SS or bust out the ipod and listen to something else

  • also epic spelling error of the word trailer.

  • Wow system shock 1/2 and bioshock 1, all play the amenesia card, and seeing from the traielr of bs 2 it will most likely be the same.

  • u make the game look interesting

  • oh this game is even interesting without my commentary. But teenagers today only know stupid dead-space horror and cant handle this intense gaming experience ;)

  • Well, i'm not trying to be an ass, but Dead Space is a great game, and has an amazing horror atmosphere

And of course, not all "teenagers" even like horror games XD

Thanks for the walk anyways, I got stuck in a part and this surely will help :D

  • I didnt want to offend anybody and I love Dead Space, because its damn great science fiction! Please enjoythe guide! ;)

  • No, maybe i should apologize if I sounded kinda angry XD

and I have a question: do you know if this game has a way to adjust the mouse sensibility?

    Thanks again

  • @JohnnyLeyenda Dead space is okay if your looking for simple shock and gore, but it doesn't have much pacing or atmosphere. For instance, you can't be to afraid of enemies if you have heavy weaponry. Of course I'm just rambling, if you like it, than good on you.

  • @owlsandwalruses

I agree, I agree, what I meant by atmosphere was the feeling of claustrophobia it gives, all the narrow, dark hallways and stuff. And when you're facing several enemies at once things can get pretty heart-pounding, which is a feeling I don't get often. But yeah, it's not really scary, more like shocking, as you said.

The storyline's pretty good too, a lot of things to find and the movies and other merchandise just makes it bigger.

  • Without DOSbox or a actual DOS computer, BioShock is the closest you can get to SS. which makes sense, seeing as BS is SS's spiritual successor.

  • Screw you x-com is even more classic :D

  • I like this game, but MAN! I always took a notes, thing to do, or quests list for granted!

    Sometimes I just wish the game would let me know what I doing sometimes because I can barely make out what the logs want me to do (mostly because all of the noise going on in the background). When I kinda get the jist of what I need to do, I have no idea where to do it. ^^;

Its still pretty cool that I have to pay attention though. I just wish navigation wasn't so hard in a ship with little to no signs.

  • I <3 you role-playing

  • Ahh, I tried playing this a few months back and managed to shut off the damn laser before the tougher robots / mutants began to whip my ass so hard that I quit out of uncontrollable frustration.

This game is kinda confusing, imo. I'd say the difficulty of knowing what to do and where to go has something to do with it. I for one ran around R deck getting killed by hoppers for hours until I realized that I needed some damn thingy from the 2nd level, and stuff it into another thingy in R deck. :p

  • you just have to listen the audio logs!!!

  • damn it i don t know where i am and where i have to go.

  • Where can I get this music (remix?) ?

  • Comment removed

  • this game is awsome!!!

  • Nice one dude :D

I've recently started this myself :D

  • Hehehe, you made me take a second approach on the game! I tried it last year but did not bring up the nerves to learn the weird controls. Looks like I found into it this time, thanks to you! :D

  • I am glad to hear that ;) Feel free to use my guide whenever you dont know what to do next.

  • That's great.

I was kinda planning of recording a walkthrough of System Shock myself, so I wonder which software you used to record this. I tried the DOSBox recorder, but I get too many sound glitches. Maybe it's my computer.

  • You need a very powerfull computer to record the game. Use the lowest ressolution and try the dosbox capture function. This should help.

  • I like how Rebecca almost threatens the player : " We know all about you and your friend Diego... "

And then out of the sudden She continues with relieving " Pull this off and we'll clear your record " :-)

True Stick and carrot ...:-) Nice To see you do the first game, and I hope to watch some more soon

  • I am not sadisfied with the commentary yet... I first need to find personal datas from the characters. And I am not sadisfied with the quality yet. I need to play it on my wifes pc, but she rescently updates her system and leaves me her old parts. Lets see what the future brings to this guide ;)

  • personal datas from the characters?? Have you read the manual? it has a few mails between Rebecca and some other person talking about how you are their only chance in citadel station. Also I asume the cluebook also has a lot of information (as all the cluebooks from origin games does)

  • Damn, the music in this game is really funkadelic. Shame that I can't get dosbox to work so I could play this game.

    I'll be watching.

  • The music I use isnt from the game itself. I use remixes from different composers that have done lots of remixes of the original midi tracks. Sometimes you will hear original music, but mostly you will hear remixes.

  • Great!

  • Wow, it's interesting to see where System Shock 2 came from, I've seen this game before this.

I don't think it can get much more Old School then this, without being Text Based.

  • Oh, it can.

  • Joey, this is awesome. Thank you for doing this. I loved this game and his sequel ^^

  • I cant play through the second without played through the original ;)
