Uhh, it does have a versus mode (available via the main menu) and the story mode is about 8x as long as Street Fighter II. :)

I played up to Joshua's third battle, got my ass kicked by the green lady, and gave up for the night. :).

I love this game. It should be ported to consoles with a versus mode, unlockable characters, and a longer story mode.
