  • They confiscate the man's wine but don't take the goddamn LIVE CHICKEN!? What is wrong with these customs guys!?

  • v-v-viva la cuisine!

  • Its not coq au vin unless you use an old bird. The extra flavor makes the dish.

  • fuck all

  • I don't know about anybody else, but 99.95 for a Dutch oven and a live chicken sounds like a damn fine deal, regardless of the seized wine and French instructions.

  • @Byrnzi360 Thats exactly what I said LOL

  • that dutch oven probably cost more than 99.95 itself

  • ^_^

  • THE FRENCH ,

being true to form, like to make things more complicted than then what it is.

    NOT ALL THE FRENCH

but a lot like to take and not give.

This explains why so many French go to the U.S. to learn English and Americans teach the French.

Now when Americans want to learn FRENCH, they just say, "oh it's to hard, we will speak English" and not want to teach English.

HOWEVER, the French are the first to say tht Americans don't want to learn any other languge but ENGLISH.

    NOT TRUE!

  • @hillypop6725

That's why I tweaked the dish to make in in about 4 hours. And the flavor is still fabulous.

  • 100 bucks is a good deal for 2 pots and a chicken

  • did that visual aide just flip me off??

  • that's not a 'v' it's an 'X' !!!

  • cock-oh-van- ha ha ha

  • haha, ppl complaining about his french just further the stereotype. it's also very silly to complain about it, who made you the authority on french or is it your way of feeling superior?

  • wine dude is tall as hell

  • do I really need a van just to cook some chicken?

  • @Pinklex03 yup, absolutely...

  • ow, Alton's french hurts sometimes

  • @viperhalfdragon

    I think that that's intentional.

  • 6:51-6:55 LOL!!! I LOVE AB!

  • i love how the wine didn't go through customs but a live chicken did! so funny!

  • lol, i think he needs a french pronounciation lesson. still great though

  • you just gotta love the chicken sound remix of the good eats theme!

  • Sorry, coq au vin is technically not "fine french fare". It is now because it got modernized and gussied up, but it was originally eaten by the peasants using old roosters and left over wine lol.

  • Perhaps he means 'fine' in the sense of 'good'. Alton just likes alliteration.

  • @RainOnTheWindow so does Mac Summers of Unwrapped. But in that case it's so overused that one has to wonder if it's the writer's idea/

  • I know this is a gross thing to mention, BUT chicken livers sold in plastic canisters have a lot of blood in with them. You could probably get a pint out of two canisters.

  • @dazigg Actually most of the liquid is dissolved proteins, much like the juice at the bottom of a steak packaged Styrofoam. Some traces of blood remain, but animals are thoroughly drained before sale. It's not blood.

  • those are 4 acrylic bongs

  • ... Oh man, AB's line ("You can keep the table, but they need to be fed twice a day") just got a whole lot funnier!

His table's powered by stoners! Haha!

  • HAHAHAHA, the bongs, that is fucking awesome i love this show even more!

  • @chupacabrah no they are 4 parts of a gigantic mega 24 foot 4 chamber acrylic bong. An easy mistake, I understand

  • "I'm a wine guy."

    (heavenly) AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

    Long live AB!

  • Depending on who made the enameled cast iron dutch oven, $99 is a steal. It would pay for the dutch oven and everything else would be a bonus. I have made this recipe. It's awesome!

  • Je voudrais acheter un coq au vin.

I would like to buy a coq[rooster] au vin

  • Je voudrais achete un coq au vin.

I want to get a coq au vin.

If I wrongly translated "achete" let me know

  • Oopsie

    I spelled "acheter" wrong

I didn't realize it was in the infinitive.

    Sorry for confusion if any.

  • sorry i meant

je voudrais acheter un coq au vin

i would like to buy a rooster of wine. :P

  • i hope those weren't real cooks with real recipes. they just got pwnage by AB.

  • "Oh, Bother, Big Brother." ??? 1984 reference!!! *whimper* hide me...

  • Alle Cuisine! And I actually did wanna watch him kill the chicken. just kidding ^_^

  • Oh man...this is definitely one of my favorite episodes! :) I love it when Alton Brown tries to be French!

  • "It wouldn't be Vin without some Vin!"

The face he makes, and the way he says it, its just so funny.

  • I cooked this up twice. Altons was good but the second time I replaced half the wine with more broth and liked it a little better. Also a little easier on the wallet.

  • I can't smell the Coq Au Vin... french guy on tv!!

  • oooo a new recipie for me to try ^_^

  • it wouldnt be coq au vin without the vin!

i'm a wine guy *cue* heaven music haha

  • he must really like the dish if he made a episode specifically for it

  • I agree!

  • Coq au Vin is a weird dish! Viva Alton Brown!

  • you rock like the hat
