I was stationed here from February of 1974 to September of 1976 as a Military Policeman. I met my wife here. I had my first child here. I lost my childhood here. Thanks for posting!
You can actually see plaques on the walls when your video shows the elevator doors open on the 8th floor. There are informational plaques on every wall referencing Eisenhower's visits.
Yes, President Eisenhower was here a few times when it was still a hospital. University of Colorado owns the building and shares it with the University of Colorado hospital. The hospital recently set up a room on the 8th floor to resemble the way it would have looked when Eisenhower was a patient. You can't just walk in and look around though, you have to set up a tour at the Univeristy of Colorado Hospital information desk (2 buildings to the South West of bldg 500). I have yet to do the tour.
Hey! I work in this building. It's beautiful. They don't make em like this anymore. This exact building (called building 500) was actually built in 1941.
I still have a hard time remembering that the 1st floor is not the ground floorwhen you are in the elevators. LOL. The hand rails are pretty cool and those stairs are marble and look worn down on the front edge. I imagine they cut them that way but I don't know for sure.
@TepidEskimo Thanks for the helpful information. It has been incorporated into my info. I also remember while doing some research on this building that Eisenhower had been here, not sure why I did not include this. As for the stairs looking worn down, I did not notice that at the time but it would make sense that about 70 years worth of foot traffic would put some mileage on them. At any rate, that is still one honey of a staircase.

Architecture was much more sophisticated back then. I really like old architecture.

@ATITANIC1992 Maybe it's because people took their time more back then. Nowadays it's got to be done a week ago!
