  • amazing use of a hang(((:

we are glad to see you on our HANG & HARP channel:

    ciferencesymphony

    thanx CIFERENCE-SYMPHONY

  • That has possibilities. Two of those, or three, could make some interesting sounds.

  • is this an integral?

  • @napydred - No, it is a New Generation/2nd Generation model (pre Integral).

  • hello, hey would you tell me please where or how to buy a panart hang? cheers! :D

  • @sixthell - Things have changed over the years and sadly there isn't a way to get the types of Hanghang that you see on YouTube from PANArt. PANArt i now only makes what they call a 'Free Integral Hang' and the way to get it is to develop a good understanding of their intentions (with much research) and to write a letter stating your interest in obtaining one.

Almost all that information can be found at a website called Hangblog. You can Google it (youtube hates links).

    Good luck!

  • A little violin rosin on your palm or finger tips helps A LOT.

  • I've heard that can help, but I try to avoid putting any substances on the Hang. One doesn't need rosin with some practice. This was a recording of some of my first attempts.

  • Can you get you Integral Hang to do this too?

  • @shinobue111 - Yes. The Integral Hang has a rougher texture with the brushed on brass, so it takes a slightly different touch, but it can sing as well. The First Generation Hang are more difficult as the Ding is smooth. As I understand it moisture helps, but I've not experimented enough to be sure myself.

  • oh I didn't know that the Ding can sing.. ;) I'm gonna try it this afternoon...

    hang around! ;)

  • It's not only a matter of skill to get that drone or sustain out of a Hang - it also depends on the Hang.

I've had the chance to try quite a few of the latest integral generation recently... and each was different in response.

With my own Hang, which is rather stiff, I can't get that drone... but I love it :+)

  • More speed!

  • Wow!!!!! how is this possible???????

  • I've been trying this for ages.... I can get it, but not consistently like you do. Great effect. Can only imagine how hard it would be to put that technique, smack dab in the middle of a composition.

  • great

    greetings harry

  • gracias for teaching me this last day on the hanghause! peace for u!

  • Very nice meeting you as well. Your 'New Generation' GuDu Hang was quite a nice instrument!

  • Playhanghang, pay no attention to my comment. Guess I was just in the wrong frame of mind when I saw your video. By all means have fun with your hang.

  • Great job

I've been trying 2 do this but in vain...

U shouldn't really worry about such comments & should continue posting videos of yr progress with the Hang.

I really mean no offence, after all how can they possible understand when they r not hang-players themselves.

hang players r binded together through a truly unique instrument forming an ongoing evolving community. The instrument is relatively new compared 2 classical ones, the boundaries of which remain still unexplored .

    best o'luck

  • Thank you for the kind words, the strange thing is I think fluteCarrier is a Hang Player I know.

  • and why did this merit a youtube video?? might just as well show a video of your hang being used as a metal sculpture/wind chime in a garden or as a door stop in a room. sorry, I just don't get it.

  • I'm not sure why you find yourself moved to negatively comment. I'm just trying to show my learning process as a new hang player. There are many ways to coax sound out of a Hang and this was a difficult one to achieve. I know I'm not very good at it, and I'm sorry it bothered you.

  • I like! <3
