Weird thing: My NES' screws are suddenly very hard to screw in and part of the front of the bottom casing has warped inwards (under the game cartridge lid) further and further.
It's got the point where I can't screw in 2 of the screws for the metal plate and I also have to put the top casing on without screwing, with a bit of it sticking out (due to the bottom's inward warping).
Anyone else encountered this strange-to-infuriating phenomenon?
So I bought I new pin conector and still it does not work, I still have a flashing black to white screen Please tell me there is something I can do to fix this bitch up!?
I've seen a dozen of these "Fix your broken NES" videos that tell how to replace the 72 pin connector here on YouTube and for some reason they aren't getting old for me yet. But I have to say, this is by far the best one. Better quality video than most (a tutorial of something like this is better when you can actually see the finer details), less yammering bullshit that we don't care about (less boring, more to the point), and a bit more professional and informative than most others.
or they could actually clean the points where the 72 pin connecter contacts the board and take a flat head screwdriver and put the pins back in place while cleaning them
DO NOT READ! A little over 20years ago a 12 year old boy was playing with his basketball in the street on Acto Street, NJ. Some teenagers who were drag racing on motorcycles weren't paying attention and ran him over and killed him. it is said that if you go on Acto Street, turn off your car, and blink your headlights 3 times you will see the figure of him bouncing the ball. Now that you have read this you must post this on 4 other messages in the next 10min, or you will die in an auto accident
yes, also use a credit card and 220-800 grit sandpaper (wrap the sandpaper around the card) to clean the contacts, slide the card in and out like a game and bend the pins and sell it on ebay as a *new* conecctor
u can fix your nes without buying a nes pin connector ive done it with almost 6 nes's n it works everytime all u have to do is clean the connector with a q-tip n rubbing alcohol n bend them up a little bit for a better connection n then disable the lockout chip n it works better then new because it never gets a blinking screen or wierd graphics ever again and it helps if u clean ur nes cartridges with the alcohol too it extends the life of ur nes if the games r clean
ok sure Ive seen many ways to kill the Lockout Chip but the problem with that is that there are too many versions of the nintendo with different chip set ups and they all seem to require a new way to disable the chip! I would just pay the 9-8 bucks for a new connector....... I would only try to disable it for the purpose of playing bootlegs and imports!
Old news. I plan on putting my videos up soon and my 1st will be how to desolder the old rf and power box on your nes and run it on 4.5 volts. These two should learn from me
Someday when I find my NES, which at the moment is buried somewhere in my basement, I will do as your video instructs me to do and play again ^_^. (I miss my old mario games *sigh*)
People still play nes? I mean, yeah it was a great system but after playing the games of today.. it's kind of like eating steak dinners after eating peanut butter sandwiches all your life. You don't wanna go back. Except maybe to visit for a day.
An important thing they left out in this vid is that you should clean your NES games, or the shit will transfer over to the new connector and it might not work properly. Just cleaning your games can allso make the games work without switching connector.
(Just so you know what i`m talking about, i have restored somewhere over 5 systems by now.)
this is good advice but it doesnt work a couple of months ago i got a nes of ebay it didnt work and i got a new 72 pin connector installed it all the same way and it still didnt work
Incorrect; the pins act as springs themselves, and their springiness wear out over time. Eventually they stop working all together, and you need to replace them. This all has to do with the ZIF, which was a marketing tool NoA used to make the NES look more like a VCR. The Famicom didn't have this problem, nor did the top-loading NES, because their pins didn't function as springs.
