  • Lots of classic loops here!

  • DILLA OWE THIS SIREN.

  • But this version sound like the original track, the William Hill one sounds like a remix of some sort. I'm still looking for that vesion

  • thumbs up if the william hill ad brought u here!

  • @davethegreek87 who's william hill?

  • @TheWaynelds its a bookmakers in the UK, they use this in their advert, search 'william hill ad' on here

  • Fu c K ing MMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEGGGGGGGGGGAAA!

  • wooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • you wasn t a dj without this, then you had your version of it.yeah good post.

  • Uprock to a six step, some flares... back to an uprock... This beat is TOUGH!

  • Classic... Still one of my favourite Mantronix joints.

  • AMEN BREAK MADNESS

  • Yes I am selling it.

  • j dilla!

  • i love the added hihat/tambs over the top, giving the illusion the amen has a shuffle sound to it when actually the oringal amen is just straight 4/4

  • The amen used on this i think is the album version of "amen my brother " not the single version was probably sampled at 22khz due to limitations on an emu or akai , i could be wrong still f@~kin ruff ruff track 23/10 lol

  • i think i read somewhere that they sampled both the original amen brother break, as well as the bell/siren intro from this tune. I could be wrong and blowing out my ass though so don't quote me. Google turns up nothing

  • Fantastic sleeve art!!!

  • does this song ring a bell? didnt NWA use this (straight out of compton)

  • @MrJames07111 Well, those drums are the "Amen Break", been used in thousands upon thousands of records. However, it's quite possible they sampled it directly of this record, as this 12" was a staple in hip hop.

  • @MrJames07111 Now that I listen to it, Dre mighta got that "Amen Brother" (by The Winstons originally) break from this jam!!! I kno' Snap 'n Chill Rob G. beef'd over that "(I Got The) Power" beat, but cats wasn't payin' much attention (back then) that whoeva make the track jack'd it from DJ Mantronik!!!

  • @meechamaka411

The truth is Snap sampled the Mantronix beat from Drum Drops vol.2 that had a loop of the beat + the horn from the ashleys roachcliff breakbeat

  • @MrJames07111 Both this song and Straight Outta Compton sampled "Amen Brother" as their drumlines.

  • boy did dilla love that siren

  • DILLA DILLA

    BEATS BEATS

  • People are so uneducated... As if the highest voted comment is about the william hill ad on tv.... So sad... search on Youtube for "Video explains the world's most important 6-sec drum loop".... Learn a few things. Amen Brothers we salute you...

  • @leeofbacup Hey, thanks very much for the tip on that Amen Break video. Fascinating stuff and I'd never have found it if I hadn't spotted your comment.

Of course, I'd never have spotted your comment if I hadn't come looking for this tune after hearing that WH ad, but that's another matter I guess... :-)

  • @leeofbacup Your comment ought to end with: Gregory Coleman, we salute you. 'Amen, Brother' was the title of the track... Learn a few things.

  • @korndiggitydogg I know...

  • Amen Break 0:19 :)

  • starting @ 0:36 sounds like Big Daddy Kane's "Pimpin Aint Easy".

  • 3.38min. who sampled this part on a classic dance tune? and shouts out "hey hey hey hey"

  • @scarredcobra -I've been trying to figure that out too!!

  • @icemanproperbo when you figure it out, let me know.

  • @scarredcobra Don't know exactly what track you are thinking of but I reckon the Mantronix sample is originally from Take Me to the Mardi Gras by Bob James (about 2m in) - maybe that'll help identify who else sampled it for the dance tune you're after. There's a list of various tunes that have sampled it on the YT page for that song sorry, won't let me link to it but it ends gaoCsmFDLcY

  • @icemanproperbo Per my comment to scarredcobra:

  • that is like the most sampled sound in history

  • @djdooblus life is full of miracles ; )

  • I don't know why the video shows a pic of the Needle To The Groove 12". I'm holding this record in my hands right now and this song isn't on that record.

  • @djdoobius Yeah, it's on the Join Me Please 12", from the third album not the first, but that one doesn't have a picture sleeve and this one is great.

  • if this doesn't get you throwing shapes, nothing will

  • @InspectorPanty I'm afraid not - this came out in the late 1980's. It was on Mantronix' 'Best Of' album in 1999 which might be confusing you.

  • @InspectorPanty

  • This was a rare 12" B-side and only later appeared on the Greatest Hits because it so ahead of it time...one of the first uses of the Amen break, where Dilla got his siren sample from, and the drums/basslne for Snap's The Power. Mantronik was the first one to mix the electro/freestyle school of hip-hop production with sampling. His drum programming, editing, and sample chops were far more advanced than most of his peers and directly influenced many producers like The Bomb Squad and Timbaland.

  • im gonna sample the fk out this lmao

  • Dilla

  • hey zuess

  • Muito massa adorei a capa essa arte eh demais!!!!

  • cam someone explain the whole Jay Dee concept and this sample..im kinda confused some one please sum it up in a couple sentences..im just a young ignorant producer trying to make it and like 9th wonder sai "YOU NEED TO KNOW THE HISTORY"

  • The track that gave the "Amen" break to the whole of the hardcore/rave/jungle scenes. Probably been in the top ten pop charts in England/Europe more than any other sample. Amazing really that both this and the original are American but in general Americans as usual dont have a clue.
