I'd never tell my kid to turn the other cheek whilst being picked on by a bully. I tell him to punch that sucker right in the gut. I hate how nowadays kids are told to get a teacher or whatever instead of fighting back when dealing with a bully, because that doesn't prepare them for the real world. There's not always gonna be an authority figure. And bullies are ignorant and don't comprehend logic and reasoning with words. They understand violence. So I say; fight fire with fire.
my heart goes out to kids for being taunted for simple being WHO THEY ARE. Whatever happened to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness...were those just all words that look pretty on paper? We're failing as a society to embrace our diversity, which really enables a society to flourish. Thank you for this articulate video! Your future classroom will be lucky to have you as a teacher.
Thank you so much for your comment, Sunshinestar! I totally agree with everything you are saying. We are failing as a society--especially the faculty in public schools because many find bullying a normal part of adolescence. What a shame. Furthermore, what's up with the lack of sound parenting and compassion in the world?
Ugh. This is both appalling and disturbing.
I appreciate the fact that you didn't let all the bullying in your past cripple your ability to love! Inspiring.
I really appreciate you making this video. As someone who was bullied, beat, and threatened every single day I walked into school for being gay (something I couldn't control and was inherent ever since I was 4 years old and preffered playing with the barbie as opposed to g.i joe) life was a living nightmare from the ages of 8-17. I literally cried myself to sleep every single night and woke up to a soggy pillow case. It hasn't made me a bitter, jaded individual, just more loving. My heart goes
