HE was keeping everybody on time and cueing them where the music was with his drums. If you just listen to the drums track of ANY Beatle song, you can recognize the song by just the DRUMS. Ringo has perfect solid tempo and he does not need a mechanical metronome to keep the tempo. He was literally conducting the others in the midst of madness.
Love The Beatles but I will never understand why these young (and not so young) women reacted to them in such a hysterical manner. How in the world could they have enjoyed the music when it looks as though they were on a plane about to crash into a mountain?

I have two daughters who were crazy about the Jonas Bros. two years ago when they were 10 and 9 years old. To my great relief, they've actually given the brothers the long walk of a short pier. My oldest actually laments that she wasn't born when I was so she could have heard so much of this great music when it was new. Even when I was going through the 1980's, I would listen to a lot of other music. But you always come back to the great recordings. In fact, my i-pod hardly has any 80's stuff.
I was at this historic concert and it was an incredible experience for a 16 year old girl.
When they ran out onto the field toward the stage the crowd went wild and when they began Twist and Shout the fans got even louder. I had a little white notebook and wrote down each song they sang for my scrapbook. Also kept the ticket stub. The highest ticket price was $5.65 by mail. It was really warm that evening but they put on a fantastic concert. These videos really bring back memories for me.

Never realized then that it would go down in history as the largest concert of its time with over 55,000 screaming Beatlemaniacs. The music, sound and excitement made it an incredible experience. Also saw them at DC Stadium the next year on 8/15/66 and there were about 32,000 fans there.

Before this concert, bands played at arenas on a rare occasion but mostly played at smaller more intimate venues. They paved the way for every group that came after them but none have remotely come close to what The Beatles accomplished. The Jonas Brothers? It's an insult to John and George's memories that this farce of a "group" are compared to the Fab 4.
What makes this show even more impressive is the fact that were in tune and on key through the whole show despite the fact there weren't monitors around to hear themselves they had to rely on their own talent to overcome the noise and stay on.
i know, i mean it's like 4 guys playing the same song on the same stage for themselfes, because they couldn't hear a note the others are playing,a nd still everythings right on the spot.
Well we have better seats on Youtube than if we were really there. Still wish I WAS there. But just knowing that they have played in my state makes it feel a whole world of differences.

the guitar playing on Another Girl and the outro of Ticket to Ride are both McCartney..McCartney played a lot of lead guitar on the records...the solos in Taxman and Good Morning, Good Morninng are probably two of his best!

He has talked about it on many interviews. On this concert George didn't change guitars so you don't hear that distinctive sound.

Here's the deal on this one kids. Obviously The Beatles were a great live band, but the actual audio track from this show was rendered useless due to the arduous recording conditions. They went into Twickenham film studio in early Jan. of '66 and re-recorded almost all of the audio track while watching the video on a giant screen to try and keep it in sync. George Martin set up just two mic's about 10 feet in front of the band to make it sound "live". BSP

Sorry to tell you that like many groups from the era, the Beatles lip synched on many of there television appearances. It's been well documented in books and even by the band itself, look it up.
This performance looks to me like it was lip synched as well.
you also have to realise that VH1 just put clips together at the end. watch the original performance on Beatles Anthology or something. they aren't lip synching.
Not on Shea Stadium. That was a concert not a television appearence, many of their t.v appearences in were lip synched, others however were not. The Beatles never lip synched live, they strongly felt it was cheating.
1:42 isn't any indication of lip-syncing. It's just poor film editing. You see there is an obvious cut to another camera angle, and they are singing one of the previous lines of the song. Remember, the song goes "She's gotta ticket to ride. She's gotta ticket to ri-hi-hide. She's gotta ticket to ride, but she don't care. At 1:42 when you see them move away from the mike, they were singing another part of the song, or possibly another song altogether. You'd have to ask whoever edited the footage.

George played lead on the record but he used a 12 string for that unique sound. Paul did want George to play the leads the way he envisioned but believe George played lead on Ticket To Ride. He has talked about it on many interviews. On this concert George didn't change guitars so you don't hear that distinctive sound.

A more convincing explanation for the change in sound is that McCartney, normally their bassist, was playing lead guitar, and he also directed Ringo so much that Lennon later claimed, Pauls contribution was the way Ringo played the drums.

Yes, the Beatles are the best band in history, and yes the Jonas Brothers will never in a million years even come close to the musical skill and awesomeness of the Beatles, and yes I really really really hate the Jonas Brothers. They gave up touring because of the primitive limited sound systems in those days,with only 100 watt amps made especially for this concert,instead of the only 30 watts they had until then,without any feedback monitors so they couldn't even hear themselves sing & play,plus all of the screams drowning out their great music.

Rolling Stones first hits,I Wanna Be You're Man in late 1963 John & Paul wrote it right in front of them & they were impressed that they could right a song just like that & it inspired them to write their own songs too.
Also it's really amazing that John & Paul were already writing hits for other artists as early as 1963 when their own success as song writers was getting off the ground.They wrote hits for BillyJ.Krammer & The Dakotas,Cillia Black,Peter & Gordon etc.

Here's the deal on this one kids. Obviously The Beatles were a great live band, but the actual audio track from this show was rendered useless due to the arduous recording conditions. They went into Twickenham film studio in early Jan. of '66 and re-recorded almost all of the audio track while watching the video on a giant screen to try and keep it in sync. George Martin set up just two mic's about 10 feet in front of the band to make it sound "live". BSP

Wow! - I never knew that and I think know a lot of beatles trivia...I had indeed wondered how such a good recording existed with respect to the fact that they reportedly could barely hear themselves and also were playing through the stadium's PA...that explains it ;)

Sorry to tell you that like many groups from the era, the Beatles lip synched on many of there television appearances. It's been well documented in books and even by the band itself, look it up.
This performance looks to me like it was lip synched as well.

Not on Shea Stadium. That was a concert not a television appearence, many of their t.v appearences in were lip synched, others however were not. The Beatles never lip synched live, they strongly felt it was cheating.

1:42 isn't any indication of lip-syncing. It's just poor film editing. You see there is an obvious cut to another camera angle, and they are singing one of the previous lines of the song. Remember, the song goes "She's gotta ticket to ride. She's gotta ticket to ri-hi-hide. She's gotta ticket to ride, but she don't care. At 1:42 when you see them move away from the mike, they were singing another part of the song, or possibly another song altogether. You'd have to ask whoever edited the footage.

All missed his mesmerizing eyes and smile so lovely. he is truly a cutie. best lead guitarist. and underrated musician. I juts love Goerge so much.
