  • Marciano looked small compared to Walcott

  • @BADOklaOutlaw he was, walcott went about 200, while rocky was a mere 183,

  • Prime mike tyson would of KILLED marciano.

  • Beautiful.

  • Marciano beat a great fighter. I watched a movie about Marciano, he lost his temper once and started hitting a Chevy, when he got through hitting it, the car looked totaled.

  • who cares of foreman or liston sure maybe, but rocky knocked nearly all the bad ass brothers he boxed and they were the badassest at the time an-dat-da-name-a-dat-tune

  • Overrated.

  • @7Know7Thy7Enemy7 your over rated

  • @jimmynablee ur writting...

  • Greatest right hand ever thrown!!!

  • a fraction of a second it speaks volumes more then most would know

  • He pretty much has Demigod status in Mass, like a modern day Hercules.

  • Why was he losing to a 38 year old man ?

  • probably the same reason the great joe louis and ezzard charles were losing to him

  • Because if you KNEW about the fight you would know that marciano was half Blind in most of the middle rounds.

  • jeeeeez...its like he was trying to decapitate him lol, why'd the ref even bother to give a count...he may as well have shot him lol.

  • the ref was no doubt confused because Joes arm got hooked on the ropes, preventing him from falling down, even though he was out cold.

  • i like marciano but a prime liston might have too much,,,arm reach of 84 inches with paralyzing power might have been marcianos undoing,,,but you never know

  • the reach wouldnt be a factor...everyone had more reach than the rock so listons no exception but liston is very powerfull but then so is the rock but rocky was harder to hit cleanly than liston, you should watch "rocky marcianos underated defense" and youll see how hard rocky was to hit cleanly, plus he had a cast iron jaw and unmatched stamina.

  • around 1960 marciano was making serious plans to fight liston, he was not at all afraid of sonny, like so many other fighters at that time.

  • Rocky was making a plan to fight Ingemar Johhanson when He got the title from Floyd and talked nasty of Floyd afterwards. When Floyd KOed him cold,Rocky said alright, that is fine with him. Rocky liked Floyd so much and didn't like Ingemar talked bad of him. That was the story behind if it.

  • truthhitman.....PLEASE !!!!!!

    GO watch (here on youtube)

    sportscentury tyson all parts

    sportscentury marciano all parts

you will see WHY Rocky would have broken his will and won.......i actually felt sorry for Tyson after watching that video

as soon as Tyson got hammered....his lack of confidence and lack of character always kicked in and he always folded

Poind for pound rocky was the hardest puncher ever

  • Tyson could knock out Rocky early but if not then Ricky could take him out. My bet would be on Tyson by 2nd round KO.

  • @Boxinglad123 You're dreaming. Marciano had a much harder punch than Tyson, and he was lighter than him too. Weight has very little to do with how hard a man punches. It mostly comes down to how a person distributes their weight. No one did this better than Marciano.

  • Tyson was bigger and much faster, in his day he turned right into his punches = more power. Marcy was knocking out tiny guys.

  • @Boxinglad123 You should learn your facts before you post something. Marciano's knockouts on average, were against guys 40-50 pounds heavier than him, taller and with a longer reach. Marciano was tougher than Tyson. Had a bigger heart, and a harder punch.

  • @darkcowboyhero

You're an idiot. You complain about the other person not knowing the facts but you don't know shit either. Rocky faced TWO fighters in his undefeated career who were ABOVE 200 POUNDS. (A Fat Don Cockell who was 205 at the time and an old ass over the hill Joe Louis)

Were the fuck did you get this 40-50 pound advantage from?

  • Marciano never backed out of a fight with Liston or anyone else. Hitman is a liar.

  • I certainly believe rocky would have knocked Liston out.

  • He was already retired before Liston came onto the scene. He never backed out of a fight with Liston.

  • during a liston fight Marciano, who was not one to boast, said he could have handled him.

  • and i think he wouldve!

  • thats true, rocky was retiring when liston came onto the scene and some argue that rocky was ducking floyde patterson also but floyde was also just moving up into the heavyweights so he wasnt even a top contender yet let alone ready for a title shot so its absurd that some try to make that argument, the rock never dodged a soul and never would.

  • one thing Rocky had was that he was totally fearless, he would literally take a nap on the training table right before his fights, and they would wake him up before the fight. Maybe that explains why he was a slow starter (it took about 5 rounds for him to get going)

  • Rocky has always been behind on points against old men. Joe Walcott, Archie Moore, Joe Louis. He should have fought Sonny Liston instead of backing out. He must of shit himself lol..

  • Considering Marciano was fighting older, more experienced fighters, it's only logical that he was losing on the scorecards at time. However, as this video shows, his devastating power, excellent chin, and strong will helped him to comeback and prevail every time he was down. THAT is the mark of a true champion. And specifically in regards to Rocky struggling against the Brown Bomber, it makes sense...Joe Louis was his idol, and Rocky never really wanted to fight him in the first place.

  • rocky was retired when liston came onto the scene and liston wasnt a contender then anyway, you dont just start boxing and automatically get a title shot and there certainly was no fight negotiation between the 2, and yes rocky was behind on points, so what..he won the fight and in the rematch won in the 1st round.

  • I dont rate this fight because Marciano took a beating for 13 rounds against an old man....lol Walcott was 38 for fucks sake. lol.... Do me a favour man. Tyson would cain Rocky. Easily.

  • yeah he was losing for 13 rounds but that didnt do walcott much good now did it, and he ko'd walcott in the 1st round in the rematch, true walcott was 38 but it didnt matter becuase he was the champion so his age wasnt a factor nor did he fight like an old man, lennox lewis was a 39 year old champion and bernard hopkins was a 40 something year old champ.

  • Marciano was a great fighter but Tyson was 30-40lbs of lean muscle heavier, he was faster, he had just as much power, he had just as much stamina in his day, Tyson's was of fighting with faster hands takes it out of you more than just clubbing.

  • Why do you compare Marciano with Tyson the Rapeist, the woman basher, the thug. Boxing is about character, heart and skill. Tyson fought with rage, and had no self controll. Marciano was a much better fighter, he had more courage and always contolled his rage. Compare Marciano with a true man! not with Tyson.

  • KA >>>>>>>>>>POW hahahahhahaahha

like watching a train wreck ,, you know you should turn away but ya cant!

  • All the Rock haters love to say how slow Rocky was.

That was no slow right hand.

  • jersey joe looks like he was dead

  • All of us armchair fighters and the so called experts like to express our opinion. who really knows ?Surly Marciano was one of the greatest fighters of all time plus a great man. Tyson was a great fighter in his own right but had a lot of personal problems. Ali sure was the greatest in his time plus one of the greatest of all time.Hate to see him lead around by his handlers because of his illness. He deserves better! Love Foreman great fighter and he could sell me just about anything and he has

  • their feet are so planted. Usually see boxers on there toes and constantly bobbing weaving n moving around the ring in this day in age. Boxing has evolved immensely Marciano definitely paved the road for the great boxers of today. He loved to sniper out peoples chins.

  • too bad marciano was a dirty fighter or that atleast what his opponents said

  • Rocky Marciano is to this day.... the greatest heavyweight champion of all time.

  • @371st

What do you base this on?

  • Yes Ali had Speed,Smooth Technical Ability,Flexible ring generalship (what ever that means) An i Disagree he lacked power! he could still hit.........

But Boxing is not about how good you look, its about destroying your apponent

  • I've seen plenty of Tyson, and the club standard fighters and has-beens he beat. And I still maintain that he never advanced beyond that level. I know a pro who about 20 years ago went over and sparred with Tyson. Apparently he'd beat up his hired hands and then sneer at them for not being in his class, which was real classy. You're calling Ali a coward for not standing toe to toe? The man I saw beat Foreman, Frazier, Liston etc was no coward, and HE didn't bite their ears.

  • Tyson needed to be tamed he was an animal and needed the correct couching to maintain his brutal force. With the right control he could beat anyone. Ali was a puppeteer one that could have been knocked out by the right knock out artist. He psychologically got in peoples heads and used their frustration against them. If Gus d' Atmato was still couching tyson towards his advancing years tyson may have developed the skill to take out ali. Truly would be an epic battle. Ali would be the over dog.

  • Good point, we love to watch toe-to-toe brawls, guys like Frazier and Gatti are loved for it, but Ali was good enough that he didn't have to very often. He wasn't the biggest puncher and going toe-to-toe with the likes of Marciano, Foreman and Tyson when you can box so well is not so much brave as it is stupid, and it increases the longevity of your career plus increases your chances of a healthy retirement.

  • No i know nothing about Boxing...Well let me tell you something I was a Welsh Champion for my Country only lost 1 fight in my career, but as you know it all from your couch and watching cowboy movies,

I Suggest you watch Tyson's Films on here and how he was trained to beat people ike ali etc. AKA Coward fighters (they would rather run than punch toe to toe)

  • For some perspective: Marciano made six defenses. The first against a man past 40. Three against men who were arguably ill at the time (Charles and Cockell). La Starza. And another over 40. Then there's the win against an old Louis. He had great qualities and you can only beat what's in front of you, but because he was unbeaten it doesn't mean to say this would've been the case if he'd fought these same fighters in their prime, or an Ali, Liston, Dempsey. eg. Ali would have jabbed his head off.

  • What ever!! Marciano would have waited to pounce , just like that vid!!

Mike Tyson is just like him in the style of fighting, he would have killed a coward fighter (runner) like ali

( no disrespect to Ali )

  • Sorry to say this, but like alot of Tyson groupies you know next to nothing about boxing, judging by your post. Marciano's main assets along with his punch were his strength, durability and determination. the only one Ali lacked was concussive power, but he had things Rocky didn't: speed, smooth technical ability, flexible ring generalship (Ali could formulate and change a plan midfight, Marciano just came forward bombing). Even if the fight was 30 rds, Marciano can''t land enough to stop Ali.

  • I disagree, in ali's prime a 190 pound henry cooper almost knocked ali's head off with a single punch but it was at the end of the round(lucky for ali) and stopped him by a cut, ali is nottttt unhitable, he is not and rocky is much stronger, much more aggresive and much better conditioned than cooper, the rock was harder to hit also because of his crouching style and he punched from odd angles and he didnt pick his shots, he'd punch anywhere to wear down the other guy, it'd be hard fight for ali

  • @dirtyjew1974 - That was 3 years before Ai's prime, Clay, his name at the time, was just messing with Cooper as he was over confident. He would not be overconfident with Marciano, Ali would cut him up.

  • call that right hand slow?

  • Best KO punch ever in the entire history of boxing? That is a matter of perspective I suppose...I consider Robinson's one punch KO of Fullmer to be the best...he was moving backwards and the punch only travelled about 10 inches...Fullmer had never been KO'd before and was he ever KO'd again.

  • best punch ive ever seen in a boxing ring would av floored and beat any fighter great footage of the best fighter ever...

  • Totally agree with you !

  • again should've could've would've it didn't happen.... undefeated

  • I don't think Marciano meant any harm with that last little punch-he was just doing what he was doing-knock out the opponent, but don't kill him. I don't know. Is boxing immoral?

  • I consider Marciano top 3 or 4, but Ali would have befuddled Marciano with his style, and more than likely beat Rock on points or cuts. Of course, Rock always had the punch...

  • Both of those guys would always find a way to win when no one thought they could. Its tough to say what would have happened if those two fought.

  • fuck me wotta shot, out for the count

  • the only thing i can reply is, undefeated.

  • stop messing with rocks legacy, really he took out everyone who came across. also it was a good thing rock knew when to quit boxing. all his fights were damaging because he always charged in head first. that's why he quit boxing his body could not take many more fights and that's just being plain logical. i also wanna make a comment on jimmyd4135. i must say you don't know anything about boxing. stop talking about could've should've and would've. rock is undefeated RIP rock (my idol)

  • I am not taking anythnig away from Rock and I also am a huge fan of him. But lets face it the fighters back then were 40 to 50 pounds lighter. Anyone who knows anythnig about boxing knows anything about boxing knows you cannot give up this much weight when you compete with the best. Not to mention Walcott who was 38 and only weighed 188 when he fought Rocky had him on the canvas. He did get up to win but imagine what a Forman punch or Frazier hook would have done! Rock would still be alseep.

  • I'm afraid that your understanding of physiology is faulty. As Archie Moore commented in an interview which they showed briefly here(something to the effect) "fighters in those days days were stronger,5'10-6',185-200 lbs", Foreman was a "push" puncher and nothing more..Marciano would have killed him! Frazier..don't make me laugh!

Structural weaknesses start to kick in after a certain height and weight. Remember the experiment with the "Superheavyweights" ? Nobody would have beaten Rocky!

  • An over the hill Moore had Rock on the canvas and hurt. Rock came back and koed Moore, Rock was the best Cruiser weight ever. Tyson,ALI, FORMAN,LYLE,FRAZIER all these fighters woul have taken out rock. No question about it. You all forget he was on the canvas and hurt!! A forman punch would have knocked his head clean off1

  • I agree as well as most fighters of this era had more KO's then Rock had total fights. for example Rock's career was about 8 years long and 49 fights...Ray Robinson had an 80 bout winning streak that lasted 9 years...he ended his career with 109 KO's, more than double than that of Rocky's total fights...still the Rock is a top ten all time fighter solely based on his strength and will to win.

  • @jimmyd4153 - Not Lyle

  • see my reply above

  • Jersy Joe had him on the canvas Charlesd almost beat him Rock came up during a time when the true great were on their way out. Rock was one of the great though for his weight no doubt Not taking anything away from Rock plain and simple if you truly new anything about boxing you would know you can not take a great light heavy to compete against a great heavy weight.. This is a fact that these guys almost beat the Rock no coulda shoulda woulda about it

  • Anyone who thinks for a second Marciano would take Ali is dreaming!! Marciano only weighed between 185 and 190!! Forman would have taken Marciano in 1 rd so would have Frasier, Shavers would have taken him out in 1. You can not give up 30 pounds when you are top level performance. The best big man will take out the best medium size man every time.

  • im sure all those that marciano knocked out too said that.

  • Nonsense,idiot ! I refer to my comment above !

  • looked like he killed him lol.

  • The argument will always be there about Ali and Marciano but lets be honest, we never saw Marciano lose so how do we know what his limit was?

With Ali we knew it was possible to knock him down, hurt him and see him struggle with an opponent.

I do personally think that Joe Louis was a more complete fighter than Ali.

Marciano would of gone to the arms of Ali to break down his guard, the only way he could have won.

6 rounds of having your arms hammered by Marciano would have been torture.

  • Ali tkoes Marciano..get serious.

  • Best boxer to ever step into a ring bar none!!

  • good fight of R marciano. He had a brave heart on this fight and never gave up his strong determination to crush his opponents. Many fights he had points behind Walott, Charles (twice), Stenza, Moore but finally R Marciano won them impressively. This is very strong point of R marciano and put him to be a great Heavyweight Champion after only "brown bomber" Joe Louise and "the greatest" Muhammad Ali.

  • nobody and I mean nobody is better then marciano, no way would ali beat marciano.

  • wow! his face looks rugged, jaw structure perfectly built to handle punishment. I bet i could hit him in face with a bat and only get a smile in return! amazing!

  • He could have destroyed a Neanderthal with such a punch!

  • marciano was a shit boxer but he was 1 hell of a fighter.

if you think that statement is wrong then you know nothing about boxing

  • 100% agree he blocked punches with his head and dodged punches with his gloves but a good fighter

  • strongest punch ever

  • Marciano dead, is better then the so called Heavyweight stiffs that pose as"champions" today!

  • Maybe not everyone knows that young Rocco Francis lay dying with pneumonia at 19 months, and there was little hope for him. His mother had previously lost another son who had died on the same day Rocco was born. Against all the odds and after they'd given up all hope, Rocco pulled through. And that's how the Rock learned to overcome all the odds and win. His first great fight.

  • werd up on that shit - the dudes a champ

  • ppl should stop comparing different era's, you can only guess what will happen and who's power was greater. tho looking at rocks record and to his fights, it seems that rock could adept really well. meaning that if he would've come across fighters like ali or foreman he would've figured out something to take em on. that's what i expect at least from a fighter like marciano. rip rocky

  • exactly. comparing eras is dumb. jesse owens would get slaughtered by todays sprinters, does that make him slow? of course not.

  • you are wrong about owens, he ran on cynder block and crappy shoes, put on todays track with the right shoes and yearly training and not the 3 month training he did and he probably beats bolt

  • that's exactly the point. you're assuming things that are unable to be verified.

  • that was just a right hand from hell

  • With Joe Louis the best Boxer ever.

Marciano can knocked m. ali out in 1 round very easy.

  • If you didn't know, R13 could have been R1, Rock looked so fresh. Yet he had waded through KO punches that would have taken out many a champ and the Rock just blinked. Rock had also fought over 3 rounds blinded by linament. For the hardest single punch ever seen in a boxing ring to have been thrown in R13 is just unimaginable. That sure was some kind of a fighter! Has to be alltime #1. Never on his back, never in overdrive, we'll never know just how much this man could give and take...

  • I also think he was the best fighter ever, period. You made a great point in that though Rocky was knocked down twice in his career, he was never on his BACK.(Like Ali for example in the 15th round against Frazier.) Rocky suffered two "flash knockdowns".Rocky was a notoriously slow starter, but nobody in history was better after round ten.I too wish we could have seen him pushed even further, because thats when he was at his best, unlike fighters like Mike Tyson.

  • Wasn't Rocky knocked down in R1?

  • never seen a hit like that in my life....even playing it back several times it hard to see it coming....

  • Interestingly, Walcott was loading up to deliver a huge right hand of his own at the very instant he was nailed. This is partly why he got hit so clean. This fight was a true slugfest, with both guys throwing haymakers from the opening bell.

  • yep..played it through again and i see what you mean....great piece of footage my friend, well done

  • Pardon the use of an overused phrase but, that was the epitomy of "knocked the fuck OUT." Beautiful shot. Jersey Joe never saw it coming.

  • Amazing KO. One of my favorites.

  • and that was a true KO, these days most of them are TKOs

  • marciano worked on 300 pound heavy bag because he kept busting stitches on smaller bags,,,,the only other heavyweight who had similar problem was sonny liston,,he too kept splitting stitches,,these guys could hit,

  • Probably one of the hardest punches over thrown!

  • I can't get over what a great knockout that was. Marciano was amazing when he fought. IMO he would have beaten Muhammad Ali. Great Video Kevlar!

  • best fighter all time in my opinion

  • Well I partially agree. In my list of the greatest fighters ever lived I have him tied with Sugar Ray Robinson, Jack Dempsey, and John L. Sullivan.

  • thats very fair, its hard to single out one guy. very subjective too of course

  • Let's not forget Jack Johnson, the 3rd greatest fighter behind The Rock and Ali.

  • I have compiled a list of my top 8 fighters of all time. Rocky, Ali, and Johnson are in it. I will be making a video on it sometime.

  • Sounds great. Hook us up! I'm sure it will be a great video.

  • Just subscribe and see when it comes

  • That's because Rocky Marciano was a FIGHTER!!

    No bullshit dancing...no bullshit shuffles...no

bullshit waving to the crowd...he was a FIGHTER!

  • Behind all all cards...cut...bleeding...blinded for 3 rounds...knocked down for the 1st time in his career...and yet...he throws the greatest right hand ever...and wins the title on Sept.23,1952 in Philly!!

  • Because he never gave up trying. The next day he had bandages all over his face and stitches in his head, but he won.

  • Note that Marciano threw this all-time hardest KO punch in Round 13 when most fighters are using most of their energy to try and stay on their feet. Marciano's most important feature throughout his career was an almost inhuman will to win.

  • without question, due to his fanatical training, marciano was the greatest championship rounds (10 through 15) fighter of all time. too bad he didnt get much chance to show it because he usually ended his fights around round 9.

  • Fantastic punch.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Suzie Q! Greatest KO ever!

  • thanks turk, see my email to you.

  • Indeed. And thanks for sending these videos as video responses. People can learn about this knockout and why it is the greatest KO ever. They're informative enough.
