@ALLOUTWAR13 -Main reason - I lost that knife about six months ago, lol. Also I rarely ever would wear a belt, and I would prefer just to clip it to my waist band. I have since become sort of a steel snob once I got into spydercos, so that is what I carry now pretty much exclusively. I still like the form factor of the TDI, just not really a fan of AUS-8, and since moving out of the hood, I find a fixed blade to be a bit over kill for EDC. I still may buy another some day
I just bought one, amazingly "razor" sharp right out of the box.
What I would use to sharpen it is my Smiths pocket sharpener held near the the edge of a table... the blade fits in the sharpener perfectly and the handle stays angled down off the table. I live in Manhattan (N.Y.C.) where we are really limited (legally) to what we can carry. You'd be surprised what I can fit into/carry in my Maxpedition Octa Versipack waist pouch ;)
@Chambelona59 Unfortunately this knife would also be illegal for you to carry in NYC. It may fit the length requirements / not being a locking folder, but the knife was designs for self defense. If you look, you will find that any knife designed for this purpose is illegal in your city. You may get by with some cops, but if you do get caught with it by someone in the know, its just like having a big 'ol locking folder. The initials TDI would hurt you in court...sorry, just thought u should know
@Chambelona59 Check out the new york knife laws thread on Spyderco forums, or the one on BF. They will both have every law and clause applicable to knives. You will also find tons of first hand stories about dealing with NYC cops and courts concerning many different aspects of carrying knives.
Just wondering, Sice you are a LEO, Id be interested to know your take on the concept behind this blade. Would you carry, or implement a blade like this?
@MrBallistics Not sure, the way you hold it may have something to do with it. You could strike with it just like a punch. I have seen officers wear these concealed in their utility belts, I personally carry a cold steel peacekeeper II
@MrBallistics hey man, i sharpen ALOT of my friends and family's knives with that very stone sharpener, but as you said it doesnt like curved blades, i have a tungsten impregnated hone stick (not sure the real name) it works great for curved blades and even my kershaw blur's curvy ass blade lol, hope that can help!
@TheLilmason Since making this video I have concluded it was the handle's angle that made it so difficult to sharpen. Its just not easy to make consistent passes when you have that much negative angle. I ended up tossing that smith tri-hone, and have recently picked up a set of some Hard Arkansas bench stones. I can get blades with much more belly (like my para 2), hair splitting sharp with those babies.
mrballistics how about trying a tek lok for the tdi????

I took the belt loops off and just use the sheath like a pocket holster (push the sheath off with the thumb).
