Not necessarily. The recording isn't exactly a problem, it's whatever magic formula youtube used to re-compress the video I uploaded that altered the frame rate unfavorably.
like that one skill you learned from beating Godai, I never figured out what it is and how to use it... (if you know Godai, that one person in River City Ransom that guards the second floor of Reihou High. He has some other names in this game)
@BigBangBlitz idk, it feels like it is official, but then again, I only have the rom, not the actual cartridge =P, good list though, I agree with most of your games about being underrated
Not quite, this is the sequel to the unlocalized version. Unfortunately this was never localized. I feel it would have been a hit even with it's technical issues.
Wow, this game looks pretty awesome! I see why it's criminallly overlooked. But at the same time, it's criminal it didn't get ported to the US properly.
My mom bought this for me and my brother when she visited korea. Some guy told her that it will play in a NES. I cant read japanese but I thought the gameplay was so fun!
My NES broke a couple of years ago and I couldnt play this game since. Where in the world did you get this game?
ok ok, wiseguy, i was looking through arcade games vids and thought this was an old arcade game. but if you wanna be wise, theres no such cpu as "famicom" what cpu does this run on
This sequel is so far advanced from the last one it's hard to consider going back to playing our version, which was basically a messy version of the prequel to this game with sprite, palette and sound effect changes with strangely altered text and story details.
It wasn't a rush job clearly, but it loses a lot in the translation same as most localizations do.
Wow I actually grew up playing this game on my Famicom. It was in moonspeak so you can imagine it's pretty confusing especially for a kid. But I love the gameplay so much I've put countless hours into it and have gotten pretty far but never entirely finished it.
I grew up on the gimped localized version of the previous Kunio game. I admit it was o.k., but i'd have done something ambiguously sinister to play Downtown special back then.
I say you should go back to it and get all the abilities, find all the shops and finish it with the good ending. It's totally worth it. The game is still better than nearly every other game in it's genre even now, discounting the somewhat crippling slow-down.
Maybe try playing through it online, it's a hoot.
Does the screen flicker just from what you recorded the game with?

There's a tech guide on gamefaqs! I was going to post it here anyway, but there's too many. There's like a dozen not even shown in this video.

Although I miss them saying "barf", dickweed is a good substitute. :D

A healer that has kanpou? I know he's not talking about this, but I just keep thinking of chicken. Stir-fried food heals anything, even curses.

A shame about all the sprite flicker!
VideyoJunkei 2 years ago
In fairness the game gives you the option of lowering the physics in the game so that it runs smoother, but that takes a lot of the fun with it.

my god, the language! dickweed, pissed, what the #!@* ... i love it!
i didn't know you could do that in games back then. though i did used to play wolfenstein when it was brand new; i was like 6 or 7
ideitbawx 3 years ago
You can't actually, it's just a rough translated approximation of some Japanese terms that have no literal English translations.
It was done by fans so some liberties were taken.

What do you mean by gimped previous game?
