I dont know why everyone calls their new albums mainstream because I personally think that their only real mainstream album was their first self titled and its my least favorite. I like it but just like anthony said you can clearly tell that someone was trying to get a hit song. Anthony and flea werent cause they cared about the music but the producer was and if the producer is trying to change your sound to get a hit, most definantly the songs arent going to come out the way it was made.

great song, from a breat album.of course he is frusciante, and "by the way" these are the REAL peppers(missing slovack).i wonder what they would think now about the lyrics of this song, becouse its quite offensive with bands like the actual peppers("conforming to the norm, straight out of the mold" "im a doing anything for a record of gold" etc..)affortunatly for them they have new "fans" that ignore the past of the band (except bloodsugar) and buy records like by the way or stadium..really sad

I don't agree with you. I like the recent albums, they so pretty good (Readymade, Strip my mind, etc). But i don't forget the first albums with songs like Nobody Weird Like Me, Shallow By Thy Game, Mellowship Slinky In B-Major, and so many more.

dude most of those songs arent very old. Shallow be thy game is from One Hot Minute (1995) Mellow ship slinky in b major is from Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991) and nobody weird like me is from mothers milk(1989) So i wouldnt consider those from first albums. Baically the first 3 (The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Freaky Styley, The Uplift Mofo Party Plan) are the old ones cuz thats before Hillel died although he ddnt play live or record the first album but he made the songs on it.

@Coldacre Ummm they are in their forties and if they still jumped around like this then that wouldn't be 'REAL' as you put it. People grow up and they change as people. So naturally their music would change. If it didn't then they would be a bunch of wannabes putting out the same stuff year after year holding on to the scraps of their remaining careers. Instead they allowed their music to grow as they did unlike a lot of bands and artists that rise but soon fall.

No, it IS John. Hillel died in 1988. This is late 1988 after he died and John joined. Also it's Chad on drums. Chad didn't join until after John.
