chili peppers a pop band? suck my fucking balls... they succeed in all they've done, so any stupid fuck who says chili's are mainstream shit, shut the fuck way up..
To everyone saying the Chili's sound mainstream...last time I checked Justin Beiber and The Jonas Brothers were main stream and Stadium Arcadium is universes beyond any shit they could write. Think twice before you shut shit just for the sake of sounding "original" or "unique". "I like the early stuff the new stuff is pop." oh fuck off.
I dont know why everyone calls their new albums mainstream because I personally think that their only real mainstream album was their first self titled and its my least favorite. I like it but just like anthony said you can clearly tell that someone was trying to get a hit song. Anthony and flea werent cause they cared about the music but the producer was and if the producer is trying to change your sound to get a hit, most definantly the songs arent going to come out the way it was made.
I was AT THIS SHOW! Went down to FL on Spring break... wound up here ACCIDENTALLY... loads of Skin Heads in the audience because the opening act was Murphy's Law - I never in my wildest dreams thought this would be on Youtube!
the peppers, at least IMO, were at their best in the early days. but the thing is, you can only have that youthful energy for so long, so now that they're older they're making music that reflects their age i guess.
look at that "put us on MTV,all we really nned, begging on our knees, please please please please please"..they were so ANTI-Mainstream..and than, about 15 years later..they are on MTV,playing some shitty stuff,Un-funky,for the wide crowd..fuck this fucking cock...that's what happen to people when they sell their soul to the devil,or should i say his name in english,MTV..fuck this fucking "music" television..what's in thier its not music its fucking crap..fuck i get raged when i see that shit.
great song, from a breat album.of course he is frusciante, and "by the way" these are the REAL peppers(missing slovack).i wonder what they would think now about the lyrics of this song, becouse its quite offensive with bands like the actual peppers("conforming to the norm, straight out of the mold" "im a doing anything for a record of gold" etc..)affortunatly for them they have new "fans" that ignore the past of the band (except bloodsugar) and buy records like by the way or stadium..really sad
I don't agree with you. I like the recent albums, they so pretty good (Readymade, Strip my mind, etc). But i don't forget the first albums with songs like Nobody Weird Like Me, Shallow By Thy Game, Mellowship Slinky In B-Major, and so many more.
dude most of those songs arent very old. Shallow be thy game is from One Hot Minute (1995) Mellow ship slinky in b major is from Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991) and nobody weird like me is from mothers milk(1989) So i wouldnt consider those from first albums. Baically the first 3 (The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Freaky Styley, The Uplift Mofo Party Plan) are the old ones cuz thats before Hillel died although he ddnt play live or record the first album but he made the songs on it.
Yah thats true. But dont get me wrong i think Fruciante is a great player. I like all there stuff really...but not nearly as much as theyre original albums
john looks maynard from Tool say, from early to mid 90's era! That haircut was infamous with a lot of long-hairs who didn't like dealing with sideburns - they' just shaved the sides instead!
Yeah, the Chili's were real back then but they were also smacked-up. They all overcame that and have moved on to be one of the biggest bands in the world. My hat goes off...
@Coldacre Ummm they are in their forties and if they still jumped around like this then that wouldn't be 'REAL' as you put it. People grow up and they change as people. So naturally their music would change. If it didn't then they would be a bunch of wannabes putting out the same stuff year after year holding on to the scraps of their remaining careers. Instead they allowed their music to grow as they did unlike a lot of bands and artists that rise but soon fall.
@Coldacre They've matured. You can trace it through every single one of their albums. Unlike other bands who just pretend and get boring and repetitive. Build a bridge dude...
I love John's hair!

I would consider Mothers Milk definatly more like their older stuff then Stadium Arcadium, or Californication. I dont know thats just my opinion,
FrizAtHome 2 years ago

why the fuck is john playing an ibanez?
parlanus 4 years ago
thats what john was playing when he first joined the band
jirothefish 4 years ago 13
What is wrong with Ibanez's? I mean sure John's main guitar is a Strat but either way he is a great player. Besides Ibanez's are cool.

No, it IS John. Hillel died in 1988. This is late 1988 after he died and John joined. Also it's Chad on drums. Chad didn't join until after John.
