  • i love your video thanks for the tips

  • the "girt" gives it an earthy taste that make it taste like grandma made it... and if u want some extra salsa u can allways serve urself in the mocajete no need to waste food, she would say.

  • Great job on the video, especially with all of the explanations that tell us why you're doing what you're doing! I've seen many demonstrations of how to use the molcajete and heard it creates a better salsa than a food processor, but not one has explained the seasoning of them. Thanks.

  • mmmmmmmm

  • makes rice flour. not powder. seems relaxing while watching some tv.

  • Hmm, are you referring to Horchata for the nobility drink?

  • Where did you get your molcajete?

  • @asan13 I got mine from thelatinproducts it was only $29.00 plus shipping. It's a large 9" one. I love it. I discovered a way to season it grit free in about one hour of work and it puts a little shine on it. Tom

  • @sommer1477 hey, I am looking for a molcajete and I checked out the one you got on thelatinproducts. just wondering how long you have had it and how you seasoned it. I am looking to order it, but I want to get some more input first. thanks

  • @BehindTheLight99 check out the video I posted. You can find it under sommer1477. after you wire brush the hell out of it I boiled it for 20 minutes then chushed some rice it it just to make sure it wasn't giving off any more grit, Then I chushed 4 cloves of garlic with some salt, pepper corns and some cumin and baked it in the oven for 30 minute at 300. Let it cool and wash with hot water.

  • @BehindTheLight99 By the way I ordered 5 Molcajetes from them. 3 were good quality and 2 had a lot of dirt embeded in them. But I love the 3 good ones. I was giving the others as gifts.

  • @sommer1477 Ok cool, I will check out the video after I type this. Just curious though, the 2 that had a lot of dirt in them, were you eventually able to get all the dirt out?

  • Hmm there is one thing where I would love to know what it is really Called, its something like mortar and pestle but the bowl is long and it uses some kind of wheel that you move back and forth to pulverize things.

I've seen that thing many times now tv shows animes whatever but never heard its name its mostly used by doctors there.

  • @aquira202 @aquira202 hi from Sunny México!!! I believe you are talking about a "metate" which is used for making "mole", check this out

  • @aquira202 search this on youtube "Así se usa el Metate por Benedicta Alejo para el Colegio Culinario de Morelia"

  • The porous surface of the molcajete makes it harder to sterilize than porcelain.

  • Great video!

  • Did you ever get around to making the video about the nobility drink? I looked in your vids and nothing popped out at me. I'm definitely interested.

  • I was also wondering if the video on the Nobility Drink was ever made! I'm definitely interested in seeing that one! Thanks! :)

  • I am proudly mexican and I go to cook school, and we were teached that the best way to clean a molcajete is to put it in the oven in a very high temperature for a moderate period of time and this will ensure the killing of all the bacteria that could have develop in the food residue left behind. hope this answer the question of MAXIMON72. good luck and VIVA MEXICO!!!

  • @xdaniela1x thanks for that tip

  • i honestly think its unhygienic to use this type of pestle of mortar as bacteria developes in food residue left behind. if anyone thinks otherwise i would be happy to learn why. thanks for sharing. peace.

  • clean the molcajete with vinegar and let it air dry after been used.

  • hey man, i respect all the opinions, but we been using this thing for a very long time, and none of us have any healty problem or something like that, i guess becouse our moms clean and wash very good the molcajete, also there is a brush made with roots that clean really nice and take out any residue

  • thanks for all the good inf. I just got a molcajete and am excited about using it . Thanks again

  • this reminds me...when i was in mexico...

  • Thank you Thank you for informing people what a Molcajete is...

  • OK...so I just got my molcahete, and after about 6 to 10 times with the rice, with one with the garlic and cumin, my first batch of pesto was REALLY gritty. Does the rice grinding ever get rid of the grit completely, or should I switch to the Thai granite models?

  • Well, the good news is that you are definitely getting your minerals! ;) From what I have read, there is going to be some occasional grit, but less so in the models that have a higher quality, less sandy lava. It's tricky, but perhaps the Thai would be a good choice for you. Even then you can get some grit if you press hard. Good luck!

  • Wow! Very cool video.

  • Thanks obama5708!

  • Aztecs rock! They have the most amazing recipes and are very knowledgeable in herbs.

Oh...and I liked the way you made this video ;)

  • Such a beautiful object it is. Why are the genuine, tough mortal & pestles so hard to find in stores? Stone is so much better than smooth marble or glass...

  • Very nice! I love mine but I just don't use it enough. As usual, you have inspired me to try something again. I appreciate you!

    Michelle

  • Interesting Sam !!Here we have something similar to crush garlic but the latin one looks more exotic and great to have in the kitchen...Again a fantastic video:)

    Peace.

  • MMM FIRST:D
