Hey man, great video! You mention you used Amplitube and the LTD ... Is the 11R way better than Amplitube? Till the 11R arrives I'm using Amplitube 3 with an Edirol UA 25-ex audio interface and KRK RP5 monitors ... but don't like how it sounds!! Maybe I have to tweak here and there a bit more ... don't know.
@crisgarciabaron Thanks brother! very cool of you to say! :) I actually liked Amplitube a lot and thought it was definitely the best sounding software modeler out there at the time, but the thing about the 11R is the zero latency which was a huge factor in me deciding to go that route. PLUS you can use it live without needing a laptop like you would need with Amplitube. I haven't tried Amplitube 3 though just 2 and got really decent tones out of it I thought. Sounds better with 8" monitors.
@yasahiro86 Its not a decal, it's painted, but its like they used a stencil... on this cheaper version anyway. I think on the ESP version they made it look more legitimately distressed... Looks great at a distance, but up close it's super obvious that it's fake. The guy I got this from tried to distress it more by sanding the edges of the paint and it made it look worse actually which is why I got it so cheap. Sounds great though for the money but it's awful construction wise...
Thanks for a great "Feeling" jam. it made my lunch break in Prison (work - lol) a whole lot more tolorable. Now, I can't wait to get home and practice...
Nice job man ! ...Great tone and feel for this song. I just bought a ltd gl-256 and was pleasantly suprised. I've always been a big fan of Alder and the neck feels excellent ! With a new nut and pickups it will rock ! I've always played Ibanez Prestige and Jem models, and while they are indeed better than the gl-256, the margin in quality is not as wide as the price diff. ....... Anyway, great cover... keep rockin' !!!
@mrjibz Thanks brother! Yeah I was surprised by it too and yeah I've always played Ibanez and still have ONE that I just wont get rid of for sentimental reasons - this one has a neck that just rocks... It got run over by a car at one point while in the case - long story - and though it still plays and none of the wood was damaged, the floyd roses hardware all needs replacing and one of the bridge posts got smashed a little...LOL but yeah - great example of how cheap guitars sound good too!
looks like someone has been practicing, way to go though really, too many people think they will be better by wasting money on expensive crap they don't need when all they really need is more practice
@TheDouchecanoe Yeah people get way hung up on gear, but thats advertising for you... I bought a Kramer cause Eddie Van Halen played one when I first started playing so I fell prey to that crap too at one point in my life... LOL... Yeah that was sort of the point of this video is I'm playing with a $150 craigslist special into some software (Amplitube) and it sounded really great! Its so much more in your hands I swear it is,,,
Man I don't know whether it's a coincidence or not, but a friend of mine has been living in Dallas and yesterday we had a talk and I asked him buying me this LTD George Lynch. First of course, because the price is good and I don't need any U$ 2000,00 to sound real good. I've got great guitars but I'm really fed up with this trend where everybody has a signature model, you know?
Thanks! Yeah the whole point of this video was I had people going, "well of course it sounds good, I would sound good too if I had a $2000+ dollar guitar like you" and this was like $175, although new they are around $400?-$500? but still, you can get any guitar to sound good with good pickups and a decent amp... The difference is craftsmanship which this doesn't come anywhere close to the Music Man guitars I have. So that's where you can lose out by being intentionally frugal about it. Thanks!
Another props on the tone. Your guitar sounds sweet and your pickups must be pretty decent... but much of the tone comes from your style and fingers, so props to you.
I really appreciate that! Great to hear you like it. yeah the pickups are great for this guitar. VERY different than the pickups in my Petrucci's but it works well. i just wish the guitar was built better so it's making me want to get a strat REAL bad... LOL I'm thinking maybe sticking with Music Man and going with a Silhouette which are relatively inexpensive compared to the signature models and I can get the same pickup config for it which I think will work well... Thanks again!
The pickups are not stock - except for the middle pickup which is the stock pickup. The guy I bought it from changed out the bridge and neck pickup. Seymour Duncan SH1N in the bridge I think? and not sure about the neck one other than it is an actual Semour Duncan.
Hey man great playin! just a little question: does this guitar always stay in tune when you use the vibrato or gets it out of tune? im askin beccause I wanna buy th same guitar! thx
Thanks! :) YES once the strings are good and stretched as with any strings, it does stay in tune no matter how aggressive I get with the whammy bar. I was skeptical initially since I come from the double locking school of whammys, but it does an amazing job since the tuners lock as well.
if not do what eddie does and wind the string upwords on the peg and twist through where it goes in the tremolo at and it should stay in tune im not exactly shure if thats how its done but my strat stays in tune id research it though
Thanks! I really needed a BIT more gain in the 2nd half - it was so little gain, but the tone was so nice I didnt want to ruin it - LOL - I LOVE the bridge pickup - the guy I bought it from put a Seymour Duncan SH1N I believe its called - its the one with the nickel cover... Sounds really nice... lot lower gain than my Petrucci so it's a different animal but it really nails Satriani and ESPECIALLY Van Halen I guitar stuff... Eruption never sounded so good... :) It makes the amp do all the work
Great tone and dito playing.

wow... great tone man, you're awesome. \m/. But for the LTD GL 256 guitar, I heard that headstock's logo and the finish is a decal, is it true???
