@rockomoron all the fields you need to change have been commented out in the php file. And in the AS3 file make sure you specify the proper root directory to you php file.
Hi there, thanks for the video really helped me :) just wanted to know though, do you NEED to upload it to the server in order for it to send mail, because i want to just test it out before i upload it, as i havent finished my website yet, so at the moment i'm not sure if the file isn't sending because i have made a mistake or simply because it's not on the server, thanks in advace.
Everything in the form worked as expected, except the response text was huge when I published out and tested it on my server. I tried accessing the size property of textFormat with errorFormats.size = 13; and even changed my dynamic text field size to 13 but still the size was massive, like 34px or something. Any help would be appreciated.
I have small problem though. When I test my movie inside flash (on my computer) the form works fine and I receive the emails through. However, when I upload the swf to my website, it then gets as far as 'sending - connecting to server' and never actually sends the email....
Strange huh? I would be ever grateful if someone could help me out!
I installed the contract form successfully, but when I sent a test e-mail, did not recognize the sender. When I go to my inbox's yahoo account, sender is
"nobody" neither the massage, the name and the e-mail of the person was received!
Not working. I tried the PHP file itself on the server (hardcoded the values) and it worked just fine. But won't send from Flash. This tutorial only shows how to draw the form - the easy part - and doesn't go over the actual code used to connect to the PHP, where I think it is failing. I've downloaded five different tuts and examples and have yet to get Flash AS3 to send a frikkin email. So easy in AS2. What a shame.
I am using a flash email form sending using asp but in my flash site i manage to send the email but when i check my inbox there are no contect in the mail. Anyone tell me whats wrong? flash form or asp? thanks.
I wish I knew how to make shopping carts and contact forums. I can lay them out and all on dreamweaver and flash. But I don't know the "php" part of it...T.T.
hi im sorry...so its my first time to work with action script... now i know i must creat a php file...but how can i save the flash action script in a php file to open up in dreamweaver?? sorry for my stupid questions.. :) thanks
nice tutorial thx...my question is...where can i read the post...if the message will send directly to the homepage name...theres no email in the script.?? thanks for helping out
Server? Yes as long as the windows server has PHP installed and running. My site has a PHP server test script in the PHP section if you need it to run a quick easy test first before you spend time making an application.
Yes, Server. Thanks for the reply. The reason I asked was I easily had it working on a Windows server. But, I had some trouble on a GoDaddy Linux Server. It appears that on MY godaddy server the emails weren't being sent out for almost a half hour - so I thought it wasn't working. But as it turns out it worked and I thank you again!
Man I feel bad cuz all I can say is learn ActionScript and PHP a lil mo cuz if you understood a lil mo you could produce it easily. I have a web development biz if you really need help.
Hey man I bought a premade flash website. The entire website is just one SWF file. But since I also have the source file FLA file, I'm able to edit it. Anyway, the email form doesn't seem to work, and instead the browser tries to open or download the PHP file. I can't find anywhere in Adobe Flash were the code is that links to that contact.php file. It's on not on the submit movie button and not in the symbols section of the actions panel. Where in the hell could it be?
Oh man, I think I know why it won't work -- my server probably won't allow php files. Because I downloaded the simple HTML file and PHP contact code from your website, and it didn't work either -- it just tried to download the php file.
Maybe try the "check if PHP is enabled on your server" script I have under PHP tutorials there. Before you try any scripts, I would test that to see for sure about PHP working.
Well, I did the php test file, and Firefox just tried to download it again. So I chose open with Firefox from the menu, and it displayed the message telling me PHP is not enabled :-(
Yeah, but what else do I need it for beside email form? The rest of the site is just one giant SWF file. Most of my information will be in my book, so the website won't have much on it anyway. But I will be making another flash website for my sister's wedding, but that also will be pretty simple yet beautiful.
Quick question for anyone who knows, is there any way to add a action script form to an after effects comp ? Help :)

You don't have permission to access /Flash_tuts/ on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

You will need the PHP parse file as well. Go to developphp and get it.
