  • The song, Love Needs a Heart is about Jackson and Valerie Cater having an affair and being walked in on, by Jacksons wife, and then sadly so, so sadly she, Jacksons wife committed suicide.

  • Actually Jackson Browne's song, "That Girl Could Sing", was written about Valerie Carter.. It was rumored that it was about Laura Nyro but that's a wash..

Steve Winwood's song, "Valerie", was also written about Valerie..

  • Greatv backup singers and harmony at the end I get chills!!chacka69 Bless all 4 2012!!!!

  • 1 of his all time BEST!!! Heres 2 Everyman!chacka69 Bless all 4 2012!!!

  • He plays the most wimpy songs. Uck

  • THE LADY BACK UP SINGER IS DAYUM GOOD!!!!!!!

  • Dang, 30 years. I hadn't played or listened to J Brown in ages. All his songs sound better then they ever did. This guy should go down as one of the best . I just have this odd feeling he has been underrated? ummm, well I cant think of a word for it. He has to be one of the best songwriters of all times. And a great musician.

  • @whoknew62 The same thing happened with me. It's been about the same amount of time for me too. As I pulled up more and more of his songs, I finally realized his music was buried in my mind at a subconscious level and that his music had more of an impact on me than I'd thought. Even when I missed him at a free concert in Kauai (after hurricane Iniki in '92), I didn't fully realize how much I had missed. He was there with David Crosby and Bonnie Riatt. Now I know they were connected.

  • seen him a few weeks ago, didn't play some of the the songs i wanted but put on a good show and seemed to be a good guy. ages well, been listening to him for maybe 30 yrs, still seems like the same down to earth person

  • @256frank WOW! I am sooo jealous!

  • Always loved him!

  • I don't know how he writes songs of such depth and diversity; i would like to know more about the way he writes.

  • I LOVE this song! Such a great songwriter & performer. He's so awesome in concert. LOVE HIM!!!

  • @vickiehill1 He was always great in concert

  • @vickiehill1 We understand your LOVE, and I LOVE your comment.:)

  • Rosemary Freakin Butler!

  • saw him in Phx of Friday, sings just as well today as 30 years ago. An icon in rock and roll. and yes, his back up singer is a star in her own right too. what a voice combo!

  • Rosemary Butler is a four octave mezzo soprano. She is one of the most underrated backup vocalists of all time. She could easily sing over most headliners that she backed up.

  • @ozinsd AGREED ! Met her after a JT concert. The complete accompanyist ! JB always got the best in those days

  • @ozinsd Is Rosemary the one he sings of in "That Girl Could Sing"? It seems like a match.

  • its so rare to see JB not playing an instrument, it makes you realize just how handsome he is and how great of a singer he is when hes not turned away at the piano

  • I love this song! :)

  • Oh Rosemary Butler, you are the greatest female backup singer!

  • Love the video-I watch it daily. But, I have a strange question-Is he barefoot???

  • @keljar4848 Yes he is. Who knows why. JB was pretty spacey back then and lots of abnormal seemed normal to him but he never once let the band or the crowd down.

  • @keljar4848 sure looks barefoot. GOD THOUGH What a masterpiece!!

  • THANK YOU! This is the very best version on YT! <3

  • i looovveee jackson browne!!!! :)

  • such a beautiful song...
