@semopicker Onie's entire band was from Sikeston, Missouri.....A.J. and Doyle Nelson (brothers) on lead and rhythm guitar, and Ernie Thompson on drums. For many years after Onies stopped recording, he (on harmonica) and his band were the band backing the late, great, Roy Acuff on the Grand Ol' Opry. All of 'em are gone, now.
ONie was a good boy I played with hem incapgirdeau mo , to and jim ed brown and the wilburn brothers .at tineys dance land in the 50 boy we had fun.I wone a n apparance on the grand old opery bu did not get to go . to bad for me /Eael chasteen chaffee mo,.
he's speaking metaphorically, but I CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT he's REALLY talking about! Shucking means SOMETHING else.. and CORN... it all MEANS something... oh, I just wish I weren't 3 years old...
Back when I used to work at McD's there was this crazy gal named Janet who used to sing this. We didn't believe it was a real song. We owe somebody a steak.
My grandparents owned a bar called the Rustic Lodge. It was alot the bar on Roadhouse. This song was on it. I used 2 play the heck out of it. I was young when i 1st heard it. My grandma of all people told me what the song was about.. Ive tried 2 remember who it was that sung this but couldnt. Then 1 night while i was asleep 4 some reason it popped n my head. I got up & found it on HERE!!!!!!! THANKS YOU TUBE 4 BRINGING BACK THE MEMORIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This song is about my grandfather, John Wheeler, and I haven't heard it since I was a little kid. Thanks for posting it, and yes the song is pretty much true!!
It's nice to hear this tune again! I first heard it on country radio back in '72 and '73, and I had this same 45 at that time. Playedit till it lost its quality. Been looking for a copy of this song ever since.
I bought this when I was a kid. What a treat!!! Thanks for posting it. I wore my copy out years ago.
