Call me crazy. But I have always felt that Renata's singing is SHALLOW. That her throat is NOT FULLY OPEN, that THE TONE IS TOO PIERCING, UNPLEASANT AND SHRIEKY, and that her lower notes are sung "innocuously", like a young student who is afraid to explore her own voice in order not to make the teacher jealous. I would never say her singing was perfect. Ghena Dimitrova's was. And there are other Bulgarians, like Ofelia Hristova, today, whose performance of Tosca is far superior than this.

@dapheneo : Crespin saw herself in distress singing even an A natural and we notice why Crespin is better hahaha, that's why Tebaldi was NRO 1 soprano at the Metropolitan and Queen of Decca and Crespin was many times third cast at the Metropolitan (as in '72 Werther where Crsita Ludwig was first cast, Rosalind Elias was second donna and Mme Crespin was THIRD cast).

And that's why Crespin is better, Règine was Tebaldi's second donna at Paris Opera in 1960

mi spiace qui la Tebaldi è in difficoltà,le note basse sono tutte spoggiate,punta il passaggio in modo esagerato tanto da sembrare aspra e basta guardare il viso per capire quanto le costa fare il si bemolle e il seguente filato..spoggiato.

Ci sono altre sue interpretazioni di gran lunga migliori!

La grande Renata Tebaldi è stata una delle più grandi Tosca di tutti i tempi. Tra lei e la Callas c'è davvero una grande rivalità in questo ruolo.

Anche di questa interpretazione ho acquistato il DVD;un'interpretazione assolutamente sublime sia vocalmente, precisa e puntuale ( non sarebbe potuto essere diversamente dopotutto) ; sia dal punto di vista della recitazione.

Ricordiamo a chi è incapace di apprezzare Renata Tebaldi che la musica è prima di tutto EUFONIA e che la bellezza quando arriva ai livelli di assoluto a cui giunge la voce della Tebaldi parla direttamente con l'anima e la ricrea, la ristora, trascendendo la semplice emozione...
