@raymieX Well, this recording was from the VERY first day of the merged news operations of KGMB/KHNL/KFVE.... so they were wearing leis as a welcome, greeting, and blessing. As in the case for news anchors, every once in a while they wear leis if it's a special event, their first or last day on the job, their birthday, or someone special (or people in the community) gave them a lei and the anchor wanted to wear it on the air. Leis are a tradition in Hawaii and that's what makes it unique.

Yeah, I would've wanted them to keep separate their news ops, too. But at least KGMB is getting priority in terms of coverage.
