man i wish i was alive to experience it all in its original spendor. almost brings a tear to my eye that something i hold so dear to me has been thrashed by the mainstream and overtaken by the soulja boys of today. hip hop was real ima start havin sessions in public till the batteries run out of my boom box. recapture the vibe!!!!!
classic part of the film best bit was taking trainers off at the end but then again i used to take my tracksuit top of during a handspin ah those where the days
Aun me emociono al ver este video, con esta pelicula me inicie en el Break Dance, ya tengo 40 años, pero siempre sentiré esta cultura en mi corazón. Viva el Hip Hop & Old School !
i watched this movie when it first come out in i think 1984 i was 15 i can remember buck 4 doing that turtle.. man that was seriously quick in those days.. kuriaki did a back to back windmill without his head touching the ground that was fucking hard too i tried for months to perfect that... those were the days

the saddest people not to witness all this great era of graffiti and breakin was europe england. WELL i had the honour of experiencing it in 82 on my first vacation new york. oh man it was awesome and u just had to be their. in england it didnt cum out till 83 and not for long. in new york graff and breakin was till in th 70's WOW.. anyway end of the best era new york had in my opinion. wish i could go back right now,, lol
scaryleary thanx been looking for this song for years. shadows
couldnt understand why it wasnt on album and even the instrumentalthem of beat street at the beggining on the movie aint on their. u know whats that called.. thankx
And can someone, anyone please please give us the correct title/artist for that great song at the beginning I CAN'T FIND ANYTHING FOR *LISA FISHER SHADOWS OF THE NIGHT* HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it should be on limewire. Just type in the artists name (lisa fisher) and the song name (only love). P.S try to download the extended version if you can find it. If worst comes to worst, I'll just email it to you.
loukadz, yeah the old days 82/83 for me was the greatest time for me the graffiti trains was the limlight for me as well as the breakin.. tell me u dont know what happened to robert taylor the guy who played LEE in this movie?? i heard someone on here said he messed himself up on crack?? i dont know
italianoval, man thats terrible to hear. hope he pulls through. evil shit. man i love graffiti ive been involved in my neck of the woods for 8 years and get a mad rush from the steel giants so to speak.( i think youd know what i mean!) and been a bboy for a while now aswell but sadly nowadays everyone wants to be a "Mcdonalds advertisement" breaker instead of buskin on some lino with your best mates. anyway bro keep the memories alive!
u know dat scaryleary, totally agree with u. the breaking days were the best days of my life. it was so phenomenal to see the moves, the graffiti that came from nyc. it was fantastic and u had all colours and creeds coming together. when gangsta crap came out then it all went wrong and a lot of guys ended up doing drugs and shit. breaking kept everyone together and free from drugs.
Ah the 80's. We used to walk the streets in our tracksuits, carrying card boards and our gheto blasters looking for a challange. Damn..those were the days. This is my ultimate break tune!!!
wow crazy legs .. i danced against him in 1983 we were the electro beatz from bristol we got down at a club called the granary and if i remember rightly a group called the wild bunch were jamming at the time who then went on to create the band massive attack...fuk me they were the days..!!
I appreciate your response Mattylga. I know "Breakers Revenge", and this is not the tune. Breakers Revenge was dubbed onto the footage after, but what I saw was the track they actually danced to "live".
I once saw a clip of this battle many years ago, with the Rock Steady Crew and NYC Breakers dancing to another tune in the club. Does anybody know of this clip, or what the track was?
yo did any one else notice that Chino from the New York City Breakers was featured in Pretty in Pink .. he tags the chalk boards and the lockers and is seen throughout the school talkin about a battle
he's also in Breakfast Club and a couple other movies .. from the 80's
Ive got a complete collection of Electro 1-10 on vinyl and this has to one of the best breaking songs ever made. Electro 5 is the absolute highlight of the collection without any doubt.
6,9,3 step, windmills hold'n the dick, turtles, swipes, kness swipes, classic indian step, back spins, dope broncos, dope burns, dope style, dope footwork, every bboy gotta see this shit and learn. you can also see a lot of this style has influenced born.
To my homies in NY Godbless ya Baaby! Back in the day I said it then needs ta see a chiropractor, really I want to say wahts up dogg Michael Williams your Bro Rick from 1/7th FA 1976 hope your not a crackhead homie! want ta see NY again someday, watch them Arabs!
Yo G3n3r4t0r1111 you know dat bro. dese guys are the business. i have noticed that the guys today their footwork is shit - if u check other vids both rsc and nyc have top, top footwork. but in addition to that u cant buy class and these guys have it in abundance. their execution of the moves is phenomenal - and this was 23 years ago!. u just cant buy this shit - no amount of money can. its just top quality.
This has got to be the best battle ever filmed. I prefer the old school b-boying to the new school. I just find the new school are a bit too messy and focus more on gym stlye acrobatics.
Sick shit. Most other clips of this on Youtube only start off from when the breaking begins. Not from when NY City Breakers walk in and they meet and face off in the middle of the floor.
re: jover 98 > This Could Be The Night - Cindy Mizelle is the track...to the blind c*nts da east coast owned the battle..come back when u got some pubes/education and hairs on ur chest lmao
