Pridgen has the chops for sure, but he needs to mature. He's incredibly annoying and a bit too cocky in my opinion. You can tell he's overcompensating by trying to play over Lang. I've seen a video of Pridgen and Royster, and I think Royster has the chops, groove, AND maturity. Pridgen just gets on my nerves.
True but the rebound is different... real drums you have to condition yourself to actually put the weight and energy into a hit vs just getting your stick in the right spot.
part of the reason a dude like Lang likes the Rolands is cos their MESH HEADS are so like regular drums in feel that he doesn't have to change his playing style AT ALL between the two. in interviews he said that electronic drums before mesh heads were like toys to him.. easy to see. music pros have gotten over the stereotype/stigma.. the general public, not so much just yet.
Trust me when I say the video does not represent what the TD-20 sounds like live or in the studio. I have 3 Pearl acoustic kits (Export Select, Reference, and Masters) and a TD-20. The sound you are hearing is comming from a home camera.
i think lang just sounds like shit compared to pridgen imo, haha, interesting combo though, two different types of drummers, both are great at what they do, although i don't really consider lang anything more than like a drum instructional dude, where as pridgen fucking plays with much more spirit and depth than lang.
Two of the best.. Thomas had to play the electronic to separate the sound of the two kits. I would have went with a different sound setting on the Roland though..
...Electric drums will reveal ANY and every timing flaw you have...there is no lee way with electronics; garbage in, garbage out... With that being said this is one of the most interesting dual drummer solo session i have EVER seen
It's brilliant. He breaks down everything he plays into simple exercises and builds them up.. The stuff he is playing in this video too are actually extremely technical you just can't see it very well.. The electric kit doesn't do him justice I think.
yea, the audios not so great. and i wish he would have played his sonor! no i dont have his dvd, i just watch how amazing his coordination is and try to duplicate it haha
People actually like Pridgen's playing? He plays way too many notes without good reason. Lang's playing is much more controlled and dynamic.

i dont even count electric drums as real drums, they're like 10 times easier
fenderjbass1349 2 years ago
10 times easier...why?
You dont use the same arms and legs that you use to play acoustics,to play electronics? lol
byLivio 2 years ago
because its a lot easier to do rolls and no matter how you hit them it sounds good ,unlike real drums
fenderjbass1349 2 years ago
that would happen if you use electronic drums from the 80's, today's electronic drumsets are totally sensitive for that kind of stuff.

i think it is because of the setting he had it on and the recording is just not that great, but real drums still kick electronics ass anyday

Dude, this is a crazy combo. TP is crazy. It's wicked cool how they duel up an acoustic set and an electric.
