Mr. King is certainly one of the greatest authors of our time, and Dark Tower is easily still the second most popular books on my shelf. Christine and Duma Key was great, and i remember loving "The eyes of the dragon" when i first read it, and again when i reread it just recently. my grammar might not be the best, but please forgive me as this is not my native tongue. Regards from Norway.
I stopped reading King for 20 years after I got bogged down in IT (which I recently reread and loved). Cell got me back into his books, and I've been reading them regularly since. Amazing how he keeps improving and expanding his art. Long live The King!
Give that man a star, he really, really deservs one. many a night spent with all the lights on unable to stop reading.
love all the awsome stories:) sooooo glad that mrs. King took carrie out of the wast bin, the world almost missed the best stories in the world! Thanks Tabby:)
The Talisman was indeed one of King's best books, but don't forget that he had help from another great writer, Peter Straub. King is a legend in his own right, and most of his books are can't-put-it-down great. The Shining, CArrie, and the Dark Tower series were superb, but let's not forget The Green Mile. I was on pins and needles waiting for each installment! Am reading Duma Key now, his latest. So far, so great.
He should make a horror novel with YouTube as a major subject. The main character does a video search on YouTube, and encounters himself with the most horrible and evil thing on Earth.
Misery, all time favorite. To take a book with two main characters and set it prodominantly in one room and turn it into a full book is astonishingly brilliany.
Followed By Christine, Pet Sematary, Duma Key, Salems Lot, Needful Things, Cujo, Carrie and Dream catcher
I completely agree......there is NO such thing as a bad Stanley Kubrick movie! His cinemotgraphy is unsurpassed! The Shinning also was one of the first films to make use of the steady cam!
Well, when regarding The Shining, you can't take it into the perspective of "Kubrick's is shit" or "King's is shit". They both have a different perspective on exactly /why/ Jack Torrance went insane. Both are really amazing, in my opinion.
My point was the version that king had done himself, and had a cameo appearance was shit. The acting was shit etc. There was nothing about it that was good.
I think its more King not liking Kubricks take on the Shining more than King not liking the movie. Its hard to imagine seeing your own work twisted in to something else, albeit a wonderfull movie by one of the greatest minds of movie. I dont see many writers being fond of abridged books because every chapter has its part on the book.
Is it just me or is Stephen King calling something 'creepy' just a little weird? Don't be mean I am only three fourths of the way through my first Stephen King novel, Duma Key, I would really aprecieate someone goiving me a recomendation of the next book I should read.
I think I hold Talisman as my favorite because I remember ditching school to read that book. So beyond it being a great book I also get that nostalgic feeling of doing something wrong at the same time ;)

stephen king lives in my city, bangor, maine. he does a halloween thing every year and you get 100 dollars at the end if you dont scream or get scared at all.
My brother told me to get into the Gunslinger when I was older, when I was just about 6. Tracked down the books when I was 15 and read The Dark Tower series, and I was glad that I did. Anyone who reads these comments, I recommend you go out and get them.
STEPHAN KING is the best iv just stared to read the waste lands an i just finist vol2 but am going to read all the the dark tower but whot shud i read neckst an i got the gunslinger born freaist an just bort the rest of the comics
You shouldn't start reading the comics until you've read all the books as they're just huge spoilers, gunslinger born is basically the wizard and the glass in comic form and with out the magic that makes the books so great
I love this man! So far, and i read a couple of his books, my favorites are Christine and The Stand! Those two in my mind kick so much ass!! Keep writing Mr King, literature is not the same without you.
STEPHAN KING ROCKS!!! HES MY FAV WRITER EVVVERRRR!! I've read every book, loved all of them. I love all of the movies, well the first versions of them. ;3
A sense of humour is one of the most attractive traits in a person- my man has such a sense of humour and that is why I love him so deeply!!!He makes me laugh so much and LOVE HIM I DO!!
yeah i remeber seeing him in Pet semetary, never really liked it though, to each his own I guess. Sleepwalkers had loads of cameos though, Joe Dante, Clive Barker and Tobe Hooper were all in it, Stephen King was the caretaker.
depends who make the films, films like It and pet semetary were pretty damn rubbish but when good film makers take an interest that's when something great happens, what Rob reiner did with Stand by Me and Misery was fantastic and the same for what Frank darabont did with The Green Mile and, of course, The Shawshank Redemption. It's a shame becuase It is such a good book but the film is terrible and I didn#t really like either of the Shining interpretations to be honest.
it's time for the independent authors to rise from the bottom of the pile and take our place at the top where we belong!!!!!!! visit my channel....we need to change the game...sick of these agents and publishing houses? i know i am.
because if you just convert a book straight to film it wouldn't work. Film is a completely different medium, with different rules. It is not a book with moving pictures
i am completely addicted to this new phase of my life. perhaps it is the first time in my life that i am addicted to life and not a something else. i feel that the connections we are forming here, are very important for some reason. i keep finding real people here and in them, i find a beauty and love that i find no where else. so,i am here to spread the message of love and peace to my "You Tube" brothers and sisters.
I've recently purchased the DVD of The Mist sight unseen (read the short story back in college)....and I believe that this is one of the most perfect portrayals of S. King horror to hit the big screen that I have seen. Very well done....I also enjoyed The Shining alot...but it sure wasn't loyal to the source material.
this is why stephen king is a genius: he can make people laugh! he incorporates humor into his works, so pigeonholing him as a "horror writer" isn't fair. he makes people laugh in this video too. comedy is underrated in the horror genre.
If the the Dark Tower series were ever made into a movie series, i believe the parts would be incredibly hard to fill. I know this is random but i would like various opinions on who should play the roles. Im very terrible at this but i will list who i think would do well and everyone can go from there.
Roland: Christian Bale ((Clint eastwood if too old which is a shame))
Eddie: I have no idea....I thought about jim carey after seeing him in 23 but thats a shot in the dark.
Suzannah: Zoe Saldana ((May be too young, but she is a talented actress in my opinion))
Jake: Freddie Highmore ((Only kid i could think of young enough for it. Im not a big fan of young actors, so someone else could probaly come up with a better idea.))
Please feel free to express your opinions on this.
Daniel Day-Lewis as Roland, Viggo as Martin Broadcloak or maybe Lance Henricksen, Eddie- maybe Mat Damon(with makeup)or Ewan McGregor (see Trainspotting), Angela Bassett as Suze, Jake would be an unknown. I'm curious about the Tick Tock Man, Gasher(I'm thinking William Sadler in a lot of makeup), Jeff Bridges as Stephen Deschain (see his new look in Iron Man, he could do it), maybe John Malkovich as John Farson and Angus Scrimm as the Crimson King (book 7).
Glen Danzig as TickTock Man. Christopher Walken or Gary Sinise (I think he was Flagg in the Stand miniseries) as Randall Flagg/Raymond Fiegler/Richard Fannin/Marten. Clint Eastwood as Steven Deschain. Eva Longoria as Susan Delgado. Pacino or Jack Nicholson would also be good choices for Flagg/Marten or even the Crimson King. What about Leo Dicaprio as Eddie? Alicia Keys as Susannah? James Earl Jones as Blaine the Mono?
Susan is white and blonde and 15 yrs old! Eva is not. And Jamie Sheridan was Flagg in the series. I'll admit the Keys would be good when Suze goes all ghetto on Roland and the guys. But Leo as Eddie? No way. James as Blaine would be interesting. Actually I think Walken would be great as John Farson, the Good Man.
I dont have enough patience to read read a whole stephen king book. I read It and that was cool but it took me like 6 months! I think i may be a little bit dyslexic...
My favourite author put my favourite actress in my favourite book (Rebecca DeMornay in the shining) thank you for all the memories Mr King, I hated Cell and I loved Duma Key you still have it and please keep writing. P.s. My story A Dangerous Thing is in a Book called Terror Australis it would be great if you read it, just to give something back to you.
Really? Eli Roth, when i heard about him doing cell i got pissed off. HE said he´ll only take parts from the book and not the whole story. The movie will probably be a dissapointment.
The Shining was hardly loyale to the book, and it is now considered to be the best Stephen King adaption ever crafted, if not the greatest Horror Film ever made.
If you watch a movie thats loyale to the book the effect of the book will be destroyed as it will have nothinhg individual about it, movies and literature are not the same!
Wow I love it that King is into YouTube! Duma key was amazing I couldnt put I it down! If you have not read this one you are missing out big big. I just started blaze I think this one will be awsome too
Hey! Ma guarda chi fa visita a YouTube, il Re dell'Orrore... 6 un grande! continua così, io adesso sto finendo "Uscita per l'inferno", Meraviglioso! Ho letto IT e Pet Sematary ed erano pure quelli grandiosi!
I don't know if he's on youtube but if you go to his site it says he doesn't like reading other people's manuscripts and that he doesn't give personalised writing tips.
This is so classic! He's so funny, as usual.

why are the movies soooooo terrible?
the books are just WONDERFUL... i've read more than 10 of them already and the movies are just terrible...
what's wrong wit the directors??? if they want the book to be turned into a good movie, shouldn't they do what the book has???
if the directors LOVE the books so much, why are there parts cut off, why are dumb-ass parts put in???
basically, if the directors love the books so much, why are the movies terrible?

Lonelygirl15. The first big Youtube star. She was supposedly a 15yr old girl but turned out to be a 19 actress and the whole thing was all staged.

How many memories have you given us Mr. King.
Rock on.

Stephen kings my favorite writer, and Eli Roth is my favorite Director, and Roth is adapting the Book "CELL", i cant fucking wait!
ofotcnest 3 years ago
Really? Eli Roth, when i heard about him doing cell i got pissed off. HE said he´ll only take parts from the book and not the whole story. The movie will probably be a dissapointment.
skrivbord1 3 years ago
Not necessarily, Roth is a great director. I'd wait to watch the film ;)
Lonelightpictures 3 years ago
I agree, i should give it a chance before saying it sucks. I hope he does this better than his other movies! Miracles happen!
Skrivbord666 3 years ago
God dammit, i replied with my other account XD
skrivbord1 3 years ago
xD! I do that all the time :P
Lonelightpictures 3 years ago
The Shining was hardly loyale to the book, and it is now considered to be the best Stephen King adaption ever crafted, if not the greatest Horror Film ever made.
If you watch a movie thats loyale to the book the effect of the book will be destroyed as it will have nothinhg individual about it, movies and literature are not the same!
ofotcnest 3 years ago 2
The made for TV mini-series "The Shinning" is good as well, but more true to the book.

Mejor aprende Inglés. ¿Te parece una buena idea?
Carajo.

bulicuello 4 years ago
