You know, it really does not seem that hard to me. Plus, it is much faster to clean a manual juicer. However, if you are going to be doing lots of wheatgrass juicing, then you will want an electric juicer that specializes in juicing wheatgrass. Just do be prepared to spend more money for the electric juicer.

Normally, one handful of grass blades equals about one ounce of wheatgrass juice. Yes, very little juice in grass blades - a little bit of juice, but it packs a powerful punch!

I see no reason why you could not put the stainless steel juicer parts in the dishwasher. There is a rubber gasket inside the cap that twists on the end of the juicer that would need to be removed though. I personally just simply quickly rinse off the parts with warm water along with mild dishwashing soap, and that does the cleaning trick. I also use a bottle brush to clean out the interior. It is quick to set up and quick to disassemble and clean. A real pleasure to work with...

You are too funny! I am glad the Hurricane Juicing video is of benefit. My favorite manual juicer is still the Hurricane juicer over the Z-Star. However, if your counters are wider then 1-1/2 inches (Hurricane Juicer fits on counters 1-1/2 inches wide or less), then go for the Z-Star. The Z-Star can fit on a wider counter - one that is 2-3/4 inches wide or narrower.

Remember, the Hurricane Juicer has a 5 year warranty versus the Z-Star's 1 year warranty.

Anyone give me advice on buying a manual juicer... i want to juice carrots apples and lots of other fruits and vegetables, as well as the grassy things.

Id rather press the juice out of the vegetable myself if i can too.

@frank0067 The Hurricane Juicer is the best manual wheatgrass juicer. If you are going to be doing lots of juicing of harder fruits and veggies, you may think about getting an electric multipurpose wheatgrass juicer. Truly a 'Green' juicer. Grow your own wheatgrass (etc.) & reduce your carbon footprint while helping to save the planet & money too! With energy costs going up, up, up this little juicer will eventually pay for itself.

I've used centrifugal machines & blenders for so long now that it's not funny. The centrifugal machines heat up the juice & oxidize it destroying the fragile enzyes in the process. The blenders only work by diluting the juice when water is added to help emulsify the produce.

Hi...I already have the Greenstar, but find it very tedious for simple everyday juicing and prefer to use it only twice or so per week to create beet and more complicated juices. I prefer a simpler machine for wheatgrass blends on alternate days. Can you tell me if the Hurricane is good on juicing tomatoes as well as oranges? I would like to add them to the wheatgrass for a sweeter taste. I am also considering the z-star for this. Any suggestions you may have would be appreciated! thanks!

@gtb524 The manual Hurricane Stainless Steel Juicer does a beautiful job juicing tomatoes, oranges, and lemons too. Just make sure to put in that little screen I show you in the video. In fact, I just juiced some lemons, added some maple syrup and water and had delicious tasting lemonade.

I chose the Hurricane over the Z-Star because I had read so many great reviews on the Hurricane. I like how the parts are durable stainless steel, and how it is very tiny and visually pleasing too.

No, I absolutely do not eat the pulp. Now you certainly can, but most of that valuable juice is already extracted. Plus, you would have to do some serious chewing to try to break down the pulp so that you could swallow it. I am sure it would be some great fiber if you could just manage the work it took to chew it.

You can get a very tiny, tiny amount of oil from "juicing" walnuts with the Hurricane Juicer. The walnut pulp, "juiced" walnuts, still contains lots of oil - since the juicer did not do a very good job extracting that precious walnut oil.

Plus, since the walnut oil is not real strained from the existing screen you can use with the Hurricane Manual Juicer, the walnut oil is murky .

The Hurricane Manual Juicer is not the right tool for extracting walnut oil.

Check locally. Perhaps there is a co-op that sells whole wheat grain near to where you live. Whole wheat grain is the same as wheat grass seeds.

Yes, I have the shiny one. That is by far the more popular model over the more flat look. The shiny one is a very attractive juicer and so delightfully tiny! It hardly takes up any space when I attach it to my breadboard.
