  • I remember this it was part of the ABC cartoon lineup as a lil boy.

  • This little short was what actually taught me the different types of teeth, and how they worked: every time I hear about incisors or molars, my mind refers right back to this song.

  • Oh butch

  • OH MY GOSH!!! I love this commercial, and glad I finally found it. :D

  • I FORGOT this one! AWESOME! Tell me that ain't Ford Fairlane doing that (Andrew Dice Clay).

  • This commercial had some longevity, as I ended up seeing it in a series of Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show episodes recorded at some point in early 1992.

    @acholl980 Didn't know about this being a DePatie-Freleng production.

  • The fat woman trying to do push ups at the begining! lol!

  • a grease ripoff!

  • Yeah, the health benefits of this one are pretty obscure! :D

I'm guessing this was a way to "dumb down" the subject of eating fiber, for better digestive health?

  • Peoria is real?

  • @de132 Yeah you dick!

  • That's my kind of Excerise. lol

  • Ah Yess the memories.

  • Really, just a Fonzie wannabe to help the kids with dental hygiene.

  • lol a cool guy loves to brush

  • Ironically u gain alot many calories from eating a stick of celery

  • Run some laps? Later man, I gotta eat this big-ass celery stick! That thing is as big as he is!

  • From healthy psa's to viagra commercials. The big tv networks have lost their way.

  • I never thought I would miss seeing this.

  • Ha ha. Man, I remember this one also.

  • Grease 2? Why not just "Grease"?

The Chopper sounds more like Bowzer...

    I miss those Saturday Mornings..

  • Because "Grease 2" was cheesy as hell, plus the T-Birds were turned into wusses in the second film.

  • These things take me back to Saturday mornings, sitting cross-legged on the floor and eating Waffelo's. Man I hate being "old"

  • Me 2.

But at my house we had to leave at 9AM to go bowling.

  • i loved this as a kid

  • Kool!!! this is one of my favorite psa's; I used to see this every sat morning!!!

    Memories!!!!

  • I used to love this commercial the 80s. Catchy tune.

  • One of the last works from Depatie-Freleng organization before selling the studio to Marvel.

  • I can't believe I still remeber this! I wasen't sure why I always hum this song when eating carrots so punched the verse into the search engine and sure enough it wasn't a figment of my imagination. It's real! Crazy how the mind works. I couldn't have been any older than 6 when I heard this and it's still there in my head after 25+ years!

  • I remember as a kid being especially puzzled by this PSA. Yuck Mouth I could get behind because brushing your teeth made perfect sense, but teeth exercising?!? Somehow my parents overlooked this key topic while raising me.

  • To this day I randomly sing this song.

"exercise your choppers on some good hard foood!"

  • I still think about this everytime I eat carrots and/or celery sticks

  • LMAO! I remember this!!!!!

  • instead of food, what about gum? it lasts longer!

  • Exercise your choppers when you chew chew chew! Yes, I remembered every word as well.

  • Chopper sounds like a Fonzie wannabe.

  • PUMPERNICKLE CARROT STICKS! CRUNCHY FRUITS AND NUT! LMAO when i was a kid this was my fav... but i didn't realize how much chopper sound like a mob boss.

  • Man, it's been over 25 years and I still remembered this word for word!

  • was just talking about this today!

  • GET TO THE CHOPPA!!!

  • F*CKING AWESOME!!!!!!

  • Yo later man, i'm eating a FUCKING celery stick BITCHHHH!!!

  • just a great reminder of what made Saturdays in the 70's and very early 80's so great. I think my son would really get a kick outta this stuff. Funny how these PSAs just lodge in your brain. Probably been 25 yrs since I last saw this, thanks!

  • OMG!! I was lookin 4 dis

  • This is hard exercise!

  • I'll never forget this Fonz look alike commercial. Ironically, they showed it the same time they showed The Fonz and the Happy Days cartoon.

  • they need to bring these PSA's back.

  • No kidding, you get 5 ups for that :)

  • "Hey choppuh, howsabout goin' for a jog?"

"No thatnks, I'm gonna sit on my fat ass and eat all day"

They don't make PSAs like this one anymore.

  • Great blast from the past. Do they even do PSAs like this for kids any more? God forbid they do something to benefit the kids instead of shilling some toy or game during commercials....

  • he said nuts lol ha ha.

  • hey choppa how bout running with us

later man im eating a cellery stick

  • These PSA's ROCK! They really need to bring them back so todays generation could learn a little. Today's programing for kids is BS.

  • This STILL GETS STUCK IN MY HEAD after all these years. Which is odd because I'm not exactly the posterchild for good tooth care. : /

  • Don't he sound like Andrew Dice Clay. This was my favorite psa as a kid.

  • Choppa is the long lost twin brother of Fonzie.

  • I was thinking the same thing...

  • Chewing hard food all the time (like those) will actually wear out your teeth. Kind of like wearing out your tires.

  • yes it may cause some wearing of the enamel but it also stimulates periodontal bone growth around the root of the teeth forming strong connection to the jaw bone.

  • Very true. Some of these PSA's are a little outdated nowadays. I watched them when I was a kid too. What memories...Wow!!

  • I am 32 years old and to this day I still make sure I eat some hard fruits and veggies to exercise my teeth because of the chopper LMAO!!!!

  • Hey, later man, I'm eatin' a celery stick! This is hard exercise!:)Brings back so many wonderful memories. Yuck mouth was my favorite though!

  • This PSA has been in my head for 20 years. And I hanker for a hunk of cheese--yahoo!

  • '80s kids who saw this PA had to learn the hard way that telling their phys ed teacher that they didn't need to run laps because they had already eaten celery didn't work. Seriously, I discussed this with a bunch of fellow '80s children, and we'd ALL tried it. :P

  • WOW, i remember this.

  • Ray Romano!!!!

  • Oh yeah man,I still remember this one like it was yesterday, man I miss good ol'saturday morning cartoons.

  • we used to laugh our asses off on saturday mornings; we knew how stupid it was... now it's just toy ad after toy ad.....

  • I never forgot this. What was with that guy with his collar pulled over his mouth?

  • I was thinking more '70s myself.

  • Because in the 80's, kids had no clue what teeth were used for.

    We were so innocent then...

  • my brother and i have recited this commercial for years back in forth. also timer with his saturdae and wagon wheel. good stuff. kids need more positive propaganda in their lives.

  • NOW THIS IS WHAT I CALL INTERESTING!! These shows were the stuff. However these shows had passed away. I remember this from ABC and they should readvertise these PSAs very often.

  • yeah, i'm self respecting.

  • Please, that someone that has "don't drown your food" please post it! I just remembered it!

  • Uh, so what was this commercial promoting? Strong jaw muscles?

  • Eating healthier snacks so as not to destroy one's teeth with sugar... or was that not obvious? lol

  • @TheChachster Except it then said to eat fruit... who's natural sugars destroy the teeth instead...

  • LOL! The Chopper reminded me of "The Fonz" when he had the animated series "Fonz and the Happy Days Gang", during the late 70's early 80's. I remember this fondly during saturday morning cartoons on ABC.

  • this is kind of gay. isn't it?

  • That was main health cause of the 80's poor teeth exercise LOL

  • lol i remember this :)

  • CLASSIC

  • This is a fantastic little video clip. But it is probably why my generation has such high incidences of obesity... chewing isn't exercise! Go to the gym and workout your body ^_-

  • actually it's more likely the kids that watched these are the parents of the kids now that are obese and not watching these things on tv. I think these little clips were great :)

  • I agree. For the record, I tried to make Timer's Sunshine on a Stick... but never a "Saturdae"

  • lol so did i

  • I remember making fun of the end of that one! "Not now, I'm eating a celery stick." I was like, "Yeah, that's hard exercise!"

  • Wow, I had forgotten all about that one!

  • Yeah, I know...the old days when stupid was funny...

  • brings me back to the old days...
