But I wasn't qualified because I have asthma, even though I have never had an asthma attack while playing the sports that I have done. And I used to do MMA while football season was off, and it's exhausting. But even after I told her it wasn't an issue, she didn't let me join.

@IOMX261 Yea, same here with my MMA training. I didn't have a ride all the time to go to the gym I trained in, so It was an on and off thing for me. But I only did it to stay in shape, i do like the sport though, but not as much as i liked playing football.
And I was going to join the marines. At the same time I was glad I didn't qualify because I don't think I could of coped with the fact that I've killed (if i got the chance to do so). Specially if I was going to kill for oil. Not worth it.

Saddam was a secular Baathist politically but was still a Sunni religiously. He used Sunni groups as proxies to attack Iran on several occasions. Not to mention Sunni extremist seem to fill every leadership/political vacuum that presents itself. Egypt and the MB is a good recent example.

@TheScrumpty You're wrong. The Iraqi insurgency is breed mostly of Iraqi citizens fighting to defend their home land the way they see it. They are no more "terrorists" than the French resistance or Russian partisans in WW2. They may not fight fair but that is the nature of asymmetric warfare. You level the playing field anyway you can.
It's easy to label the enemy terrorists when they are trying to kill you for attacking their country. It does not mean they are.
