I LOVEEE thiss!! Everyone always tells me "riding isnt a sport" or "the horse does all the work" or "all you do is sit there" and "Its no big deal" or "its so expensive and pointless" should i go on? We've all heard it and its so frusterating! Its nice to know im not the only one who has to defend our sport!

All my friends criticize when I say I ride horses. My friend who is a cheerleader even had the nerve to say her sport is more dangerous, until I had her get on my horse. She never said anything bad about it again

You know what ticks me off???? That people just talk before they speak about us….They think riding is just running around in circles as fast as you can….But no…..When ever someone makes an obnoxious comment to me about horses…I say..can you stay on a bucking bronco horse? Can YOU lunge a horse? If you get a horse….there should only be one reason to ride..To have a bond.To Be Brave.To Take Chances. That's what it's about.

People dont know what its like to gallop full speed into a solid obstacle, Or dance with a strong willed animal that speaks an entirely different language or to jump something bigger than yourself or fall over 3 meters going at 35 miles per hour then hop up, dust yourself off and hop straight back on. If it aint a sport then why was the carriage races from ancient Greece was considered a sport. So mainly these equestrian games are sports.And also why Equestrian is in the olympics then it is a sport. Just saying Horse racing how about horse racing it's a sport. Then how come it's in Sports illustrated but not all the time though.

Maybe you can make him ride a horse. In the woods, cross. Or jumping. Even if he can't ride, he said it wasn't a sport.

And make him help with everything: clean up stables, take care of the harness, really everything.

And when he's totally exhausted, say to him that this is like every day with horses.
