  • does anyone know what colour shirt Alex Wilson wore in the arsenal goal in this final? ive been trying to find out for ages. i know it wasnt the normal green. its either white or yellow looking at some black and white pictures of the squad...

  • @LeeMk6 . I too would like to know the answer to that question, but even Arsenal F.C. cant tell me the answer. My late father told me it was a light shade of yellow, but I can,t guarantee that fact.

Interesting to note that of Arsenals first five cup finals, they won three when the keeper was wearing either white/yellow 1930 & 1936 or Red Jumper in 1950. I believe that in their two losing finals,1927 & 1932 our respective keepers wore green Jumpers.

  • @LeeMk6 My late Father told me that Alex Wilson wore a yellow shirt for the 1936 final, but I can,t guarantee that statement.Contacted Arsenal and they don,t know either.Interesting to note that in the 1930 final goalkeeper Charlie Preedy also wore a light coloured shirt.

  • Was Herbert Chapman Arsenal manager?

  • No, he'd died in January 1934. The Trainer, Joe Shaw took over the team until the end of the season and then George Allison took over and carried on as manager through the war until he retired in 1947.

  • I'm a Dundee fan,but aware of what Chapman achieved as manager of Huddersfield then Arsenal. Amazing man.

  • The reason for the aerial shots is that there was a dispute over filiming rights and newsreels were banned
