  • 0:53 is that on Curry street near the King William street intersection?

  • I love our city, wish I was alive back then. I know a lady that wagged school that day to go see them and was paranoid her mum would find out cause there were cameras everywhere.

  • days like today, im happy im adelaide born and raised!

  • and i was one of them...with my brother and sister

    great!!

  • I went into the city yesterday, and walked under the balcony where they stood 47 years ago. I had a bit of a fan girl moment I must admit.

  • Someone should have told McCartney it would happen for the rest of his life.

  • @Zimnyification Well it's john saying "we know it won't last all our lifes", and he was the one who hated it the most so what does paul have to do with it?

  • @deniseemelierose He said "We..."

  • 350,000 out of a city that had 750,000 people. amazing.

  • michael jackson the king have more than that way way more

  • @jazzsonicx3 michael jackson never had more than that you dumbass, ur excaggerating. ive never seen footage where jackson was swarmed with 350,000 people just making a street appearance.

  • @jazzsonicx3 ohhhhhhhh, your an idiot...i see...

  • This is unbelievable! Bigger than NEW YORK! I estimate the pop of Adelaide at the time to be about 600-700,000 as it's about 1.3 million right now. Considering that this is unbelievable. However, I do think the 350,000 is slightly inflated. I've been at the town hall for the 97 crows grand final victory ticker tape which had over 100,000 and that was similar to this. All of King W St completely covered in people from n tce to Victoria sq

  • and so many people say michael jackson was more popular.

  • its cos the beatles were the only group back then

  • @madstaf actually there were may bands out there, but those bands werent genius like beatles.

  • @madstaf ok thats a reallllllyyy good point!!!

  • pact with devil

  • My auntie was there! I'm jealous of her :(

  • Who is that in the back left at 1:14? Sutcliffe? Best? Random? Who?

  • @jterpst1 I can't recall his name right now, but he's the drummer that took over for a few weeks while Ringo was in the hospital. It's easily looked up and he's in at least 3 or four other vids playing with The Beatles on YouTube.

  • I absolutely *hate* it when artists note the receptions they get from fans by saying, "It was just like The Beatles!" or "It was BETTER than The Beatles!" HELL, NO!! These people *haven't a clue" if they wish to compare the reactions they get from fans today, yesterday or next week to what The Beatles had experienced. Never in the history of music has *anything* come close to what these four boys from Liverpool have accomplished..and *nothing ever will*. Simply amazing. They are the best. ♥

  • oh and BTW people are pretty fucked up. stop freakin WORSHIPING THEM!!! they are people for crying out loud, not god!!!!

  • umm i dont know. its obvious they were huge back then. but cmon you gotta admire the legend. King of Pop Michael Jackson. he was amzing

  • @MileyRox31 michael jackson was huge, no beatle fan takes that away from him, but not even he experienced the hysteria the beatles did. he was close, but 350,000 people just to see them on the street, that is amazing.

  • @jasartrip9598 yeah thats really impressive.

  • @MileyRox31 michael was the king of pop, the beatles were the kings of music.

  • @jasartrip9598 hmm i never heard of it like that. i guess thats a good point.

  • my mum was in that crowd, i feel so proud :D

  • lennon signed a pact with the devil

  • I'm a teenager Adelaide now, but I would have loved to be in Adelaide in the 60s! True Beatlemania <3

  • I didn't think there were 350,000 people in Adelaide. It doesn't even look like this on New Years Eve.

  • oh! that's not Ringo!! damn, i feel REALLY sorry for the Beatles fans there. No Ringo. It's just not the same.

  • must have just about been everyone from south australia at the time haha

  • What's odd is that I knew The Beatles before I knew about Michael Jackson, and I'm born in 90s. Hmmm...

  • what street was this? anyone know?

  • kangaroo poo drive

  • @danamon5000 king william street

  • @danamon5000 North Tce

  • and people are saying the jonas brothers are this popular

  • thats the funniest thing ive ever heard no way in hell not even in the same leauge as the beatles

  • I didn't say that. A lot of people were comparing The Beatles and The Jonas Brothers fan base it was ridiculous.

  • @UR55378008 no problem I knew what you meant ,i know your a beatles fan too

  • just beatles could do that, no other artist ever could, can or will be able to repeat it.

  • @caryash i disagree, you just never know. maybe 5, 10, 55, 123 years from now a great group may come together and be absolutely great singers, writers, musicians like the beatles were. you cant ever say something will never happen.

  • The Beatles did an Amsterdam concert then to Hong Kong before going to Australia. All three tours Jimmy Nichols did the drumming for Ringo. Ringo joined them later in Australia. Jimmy Nichols faded into obscurity after that. Thanks Jimmy.

  • what a goose reporter , what do you think of australia , having still not walked on the tarmac.

  • This is part of the history of rock. Notice that Ringo wasnt with them, I read somewhere that he was sick or something. Thanks for posting it.

  • Ringo had his tonsils out i believe, my dads in that crowd somewhere

  • the BEATLES were most popular than everyone in this planet

    PHENOMENON!!

  • agreed!!!THE BEATLES ARE GODS OF MUSIC ANYWHERE!!!!THEY REINVENTED ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!

  • The Beatles was most popular than Jesus

  • It wasn't like that all of their lives, but they are recognized and mobed wherever they go all of their lives.

  • is that on king william street?

  • Only the Beatles,unbelievable fame.

  • Simply historic, those are My Beatles

  • Holy Molie! What a crowd... in Adelade no less! The Melbourne Concerts posted are prob. a good representation of all the Aust. concerts
