It is unfortunately true that power attracts undesirables,a good police force will weed out most of these in its selection process.Maybe the sheer size of the usa brings so many bad policemen to the worlds attention but even if that is true they should take extra special care to select the right people,not the thugs,mental cases or sheriffs cousins we usually see.

Clearly, that was not an arrest based on 'probable cause' ...that was a vicious assault based on 'reasonable suspicion'. The major problem here is that when people are given power and authority, they are not made accountable in a balanced manner. Basically, what the Sheriff's Dept. is saying is that it's OK to treat suspects how they see fit even if that amounts to ruining the suspect's life. Even if the victim in this case had been the right man, there is no excuse for that kind of brutality.
This is what happens when the state gives police the atthority to act based totally on assumption. The bottom line here is that we don't know what Harris saw that caused him to run. We also don't know what he heard, and we don't know what he perceived was happening to him. And given the results of the Officer's actions, we're not likely to ever know the answers to those questions. There should be severe penalties for those who take this kind of action and get it WRONG.

I looked on Seattles newspaper, and it says that Christopher Harris finally came out of a coma (after grim prospects, obviously) and he and his wife had to move in with Christopher's dad. His wife had to quit her job to take care of him, and she says that their total hospital bills have reached over 1 million dollars.

Personally I think that MONSTER should be charged with attempted homicide! He may have had probable cause to arrest him, but certainly not to try and KILL him! Body slamming someone into a tiled outer structural wall is a calculated attempt to cause grievous bodily injury. If a private citizen tackled someone in this manner and caused the same injuries, the guy who caused it would be charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault. He'd most likely be getting at least 10 years in jail.

Clearly, that was not an arrest based on 'probable cause' ...that was a vicious assault based on 'reasonable suspicion'. The major problem here is that when people are given power and authority, they are not made accountable in a balanced manner. Cops is such circumstances have all the power - training, weapons, the force of law. back-up etc etc. The Officer is unworthy of public trust and is no better than a thug. A 'tragic accident' is not possible under these circumstances, an assault is.

This is what happens when the state gives police the atthority to act based totally on assumption. The bottom line here is that we don't know what Harris saw that caused him to run. We also don't know what he heard, and we don't know what he perceived was happening to him. And given the results of the Officer's actions, we're not likely to ever know the answers to those questions. There should be severe penalties for those who take this kind of action and get it WRONG.

His wife had to quit her job to take care of him, and she says that their total hospital bills have reached over 1 million dollars.

The true story is Chris was not near the store. The cops in Metro Transit uniforms were led a block and a half away by a woman. They didn't even check in the store. Witnesses said the incident began when several men, some covered in blood, ran into a convenience store where Harris had been shopping. Deputies chasing down the suspect were mistakenly told by witnesses that Harris was the man they wanted. Harris had not been in the fight, but he ran.
The surveillance video shows the end of the chase as moviegoers are exiting from the Cinerama theater, about 2½ blocks from where the chase began.

Personally I think that MONSTER should be charged with attempted homicide! He may have had probable cause to arrest him, but certainly not to try and KILL him! Body slamming someone into a tiled outer structural wall is a calculated attempt to cause grievous bodily injury. If a private citizen tackled someone in this manner and caused the same injuries, the guy who caused it would be charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault. He'd most likely be getting at least 10 years in jail.

He was identified as the suspect in a "bloody fight" and when the police called after him, "he ran" rather than standing to talk to them.
The police had every right & responsibility to detain the suspect. He brought the tackle on himself by running.
So you may continue to be a stupid cunt all you like. The fact is that if this person had complied with the order to stop, he would have quickly been eliminated as a suspect and on his way.

@Humanshot I watched the video. I clearly saw him stop running and face the cop with his hands visibly empty. Witnesses say he was calling out that he didn't steal anything, and he has nothing. The guy was wearing white with no trace of blood. The cop clearly saw that when he attacked him. Do you really think the cop followed proper procedure when he attacked an unarmed man with no evidence of blood on him?

(1) The suspect ran in fear when large men chased him after he witnessed a violent crime. (2) It is clearly shown in the video that he turned and faced the cop, with open and empty hands. (3) The violent altercation was very bloody. The suspect was wearing a pristine white hoodie, with not even the tiniest drop of blood on him. (4) The cop slammed him head first into a concrete wall, instead of telling him to get down on the ground. (5) The man now in a coma committed no crime whatsoever.

I just posted the 5 major facts of the case. Go do some reading about it. Witnesses even stated he was calling out to the cop, while facing him I dont have anythingI didnt do anything! The police themselves admit he wore white, and had absolutely no blood on him. How can you make a claim to be a doctor, and still think that the police acted properly?
