In other words, one must do a little "left-brain, right-brain" shuffle, keeping the mind calm and clear and resisting the lure of looking at the flashing lights. Those lights should get your attention initially, but then one must ride or drive his own route without fixating upon the lights. Hope this helps...

It is simply not neccassary to stop people in this area. Escorting them to the next car park or using the next exit to get out of this dangerous area of the highway.

I've seen loads of these where the car in front of the patrol vehicle gets nailed from the side rather than the patrol vehicle being hit from behind. Are there any Americans that can explain (without speculation) what actually happens?? It's always confused me as it doesn't seem to happen anywhere else.
The guy was probably rubbernecking and didn't realize he was steering towards the vechiles. Notice he clipped the side of the cop car (the one taping) which is what really got him sideways into the white Pontiac.
