  • Great work man! Very dope composition and sound. Pretty good Atari emulator VST btw, should look into that one sometime

  • That is amazing

  • This is just amazing!

  • @MusicalPalette - I said the same thing in my head right before I scrolled down and saw your response! :-)

  • i have a feeling you inspired kid2will

  • Dude. Absolutely amazing. I've been looking for a good chiptune track as background music for my name cabinet. Perfect!!!

  • Awesome work!

  • This is amazing, are you still tracking?

  • Great track man.

    big up!

  • I LOVE THIS !!!! downloading and remixing what do u call yourself ? whats ur Producer name or DJ name ?

  • @maverick1363 DJ's (disc jockeys) mix two (or more) songs together, they don't produce at all (although some producers DJ for their live performances), so he's not that. He's a producer :P.

    THE MORE YOU KNOW

  • @HeyLookItsASpah I ask for both bcuz i myself am a DJ and a Producer and sometimes your DJ name can varry from your producer name. Take Skrillex for example he use to DJ under the name Sandy Moore ... or Soulwax who sometimes DJ under the alias 2MANYDJ's

  • @maverick1363 Good point but how is this guy any related to DJ'ing?

    But whatever.

  • @HeyLookItsASpah he's not but i askd for both just incase ... u never know

  • Cool!

Grab some nice Mad Max (Jochen Hippel) digidrum samples (or some more punchy samples) and i'm pretty sure u'll get an awesome new version :D

  • ive been wanting to make amazing music like this.....is there anywhere i could look to learn how to do this?

  • @kryptynite76 Well I can't tell you how to use this program in particular, but I CAN tell you how to make chiptunes using MilkyTracker (I might have a tutorial coming out for that someday. READ: MIGHT), but what I'd recommend doing is downloading a tracker (I'd say Milky or MODplug is your best bet).

There is a good tutorial to get you started in MODplug on their website (modplugDOTcom/modplug/tutorial/alltrax/step0DOThtml)

as for Milkytracker (what I use) I'd say watch some tutorials.

  • @HeyLookItsASpah what about famitracker? Still choose milkytracker over it? I'm trying to decide.

  • @malakov5 It doesn't matter what tracker you use, I'm still trying to decide what to use myself (it's probably going to be more than one tracker depending on what kind of music I want to make), I'd recommend downloading the trackers you're considering, and just see which one works out best for you.

  • @HeyLookItsASpah I do not like doing chiptunes in renoise, even with great VSTs. I was playing around with Milkytracker and it was so configurable. I assume you can do the same in Fami but I'm not going to bother learning how now! I use Logic or Renoise for trance etc but chiptunes will definitely be made in Milkytracker now. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • @malakov5 YAY I just made a point

  • My local radio station was doing a Chiptune show so, hope you don't mind the shout out but this sweet baby got played on KSCU 103.3 in Santa Clara, CA at 4 o'clock.

  • awesome tune !! - i make less awesome music.........

  • Very delicious.

This is one of my favourite tracks since a long time :-)

  • i've been looking for a vst like this for so long! it's easy to emulate that 8 bit sound with any ordinary vst, but i can never get it to sound this legit!

  • So, Nordic people love this. That's funny. I love it too, though. Word up to a nice piece of tune.

  • Crazy stuff man, love this tune so much D:

I'd also be interested in the .xrns file if you ever fancy releasing it ;D

been using this plugin for a while but never managed to make anything as good as this.

  • Great track! Thanks for the HQ version!

  • Flipping great tune!

  • Can ymVST work with Digital Perfomer?

  • Never heard of Digital Performer but if it's a VST host, I'm pretty sure it works. I mean, why shouldn't it? Just try!

  • I'm fresh out of the blocks with this chiptune stuff but hell, what an awesome thing to be into. Takes me back to the days of the NES.

  • interesting method. Thx 4 tha insparation.

  • lion hatz?

prefer this one million times over....

  • Even after all these years, this is still one of my favorite chiptunes.

  • what is the name of this chiptune?

  • ymVST Extended? lol.

  • What program can the vst work with?

  • Renoise and FL studio are the ones I know. But then, every other software that accepts VST-instruments can use it.

Try it out. This VSTi is a have to!

  • Anything that works with VSTs. FL Studio, Ableton, Renoise, etc.

  • Awesome tune, what's the name of the track as I have a massive collection of YM tunes and no name to go with it.

  • Found it on your website dohh!!!

  • :O Holy Lion Hat!

  • Lion hat is better !

    this needs moreee basss

  • lol wtf is lion hat?

  • Are you serious?

Lion Hat is like the much MUCH better version of this..

    Unicorn Kid - Lion Hat

    CHECK IT OUT!

  • all hail 8bit glory :D

  • ♥.♥ I love it!

  • IM FUCKING FLYIN' !!! XD AWSOME

  • this is cool, but you shudve used three channels for authentic ST flavaaa.

    still fucking brilliant track man

  • THIS IS FUCKING EPIC!!!!!!

    =D

  • any link for the .mod/.xm/whatever ?

  • you ever hear something and it gets ahold of you and controls you? that is what this sh*t does to me. Keep it up IJsf!!!

  • Damn hot stuff! Like it very much!

    thanks for posting here!

  • fuckin epic

  • this is pure gold! [2]

  • this is pure gold!

  • I dig it man, dig it since so long!

  • great song !

  • Have you ever considered releasing the .rns/.xrns file you used? I never figured out how to get decent sounds out of ymVST. :(

  • Good idea.

  • +500

  • unicorn kid actually ripped this song. and no, he didn't ask.

  • Chiptunes rock! Though, I have no idea how they're made (if you can tell me that'd be great) if not OH well XD I'll still keep enjoying their awesomeness

  • Nice does anybody know where i can get just pro audio software for an st emulator?

  • I'm just waiting until Timbaland steals this. ;)

    Amazing, just amazing! 5/5

  • unicorn kid already did, check lion hat

  • he did, what a cheat.

  • Check out the above statement. This track was incorporated with permission, so don't worry about it.

  • Sounds great.

    gratz.

  • WOW i love it = My goosebumps told me! lol.

  • 5 stars ! =D

  • damn thats sick........

  • Wow, this song is amazing.

    I love it.

  • very nice :) u r very good :P 5/5

o btw, do u know of any d blue glitch forums or tutorials? just got it a lil while ago but cant find out anything about it =/

    thx in advanced :P

  • Since when does the YM2149 have 5 channels (rather than 3 + 1 noise channel)

  • The song is using Renoise that has 6 channels alocated for the entire song, and each sound is an YMVST that imitates the YM sound.

  • Wow ! Great!!! But i have never saw anything about the programe !!! I think it's more professional programe than fl studio

  • what are you using to run this?

im using FL, and it looks nothing like this.

    amazing work btw

  • Renoise

  • all sounds made in ymVST? damn. can't even change the sounds.

  • I've tried this program. Renoise is an awesome tracking-software. Unfortunatly, I suck.. Bigtime..

I don't even know how to make an "off"-note, damn it.

  • Press Caps-lock. ;) just look around the Renoise forums for tips and stuff. Renoise is a great tracker for almost anything. Though I myself am an LSDJ man, I still use Renoise for a lot of stuff.

  • Haha! That info will certainly come in handy! Thank you!

Now if you will, I'm gonna make some wicked chip-music. ;)

I noticed, by the way, that FL also supports ymVST.

  • this is incredible...

  • awesome track man.. downloading it from your website as we speak

  • Nice tune, any problems with me remixing/covering this?

  • It's licensed under Creative Commons, so please do credit me and post as video response if you like.

  • it this better than fruity loops studio(FL-studio)?

  • berlinhunter49, its so different.. in a tracking environment you use the qwerty keyboard like a musical keyboard and put in numbers for effects such as arpeggiate and such.. in FL you draw in the music you want and choose sounds that have almost no limitations. tracking is actualy downgrade from the sequencers.. but you get a distinctive sound from them, that alot of people enjoy im one of them! check my profile for my chips..

  • This is amazing! just love it!!!

  • amazing quality !!

one of the lead sounds like a novation nova gliding!!

  • GREAT stuff!

  • awsome !!!!

  • would you say its good enoigh to be a professional song?

  • Yes. :D

  • YES YES!! It is far more good than just enough =)

  • that's a great tune!

btw. I am wondering. can you control modulation in renoise using effects column just as easily as in classical trackers? does it involve sending midi cc to ymvst? in other words, have you used one instance of ymVST for each instrument or is there some more clever solution?

anyway I am going to give it a try. it for sure has much better flexibility for this kind of thing than any modern DAW.

  • You can control plug-ins using MIDI CC, and you can use the effects column (by the way, you can add more than one) for modulation. You can use curve automation for each pattern, too - that's what I prefer...

  • Every instrument is a separate ymVST instance, for my convenience.

  • Absolutly great!! *****!

  • micromusic ...verrry good chiptune site

  • damn! how great is that.....Excellent :.|.:

  • GREAT song, I listen to chiptunes all the time and this is definitely one of the better ones

your website appears to be down (for me), any other way of obtaining this song ?

  • Server is being maintained, it should be up soon.

  • I love the PWM on that square wave :D

  • :) I almost shed a tear! Gon are the days of the c64 and Amiga but chip tunes live on! I wonder if there is a site dedicated to chippers?

  • Check out websites like scenemusic dot net, scene dot org, pouet dot net, remix dot kwed dot org, etcetera.

  • can't get this in an mp3?

  • nice chiptune! takes me back to c64 cracktro's :)

  • Ok, this is the best thing I've ever heard comming out of an YM! 5*

  • Mind you I slightly cheated on the delay and gate effects, although they can be done with a YM + some nifty tracking as well.

  • Very Very good mate! I like your tune! you would make a great trance producer too!

  • is the tracker file for this available? (ie I want to steal it all!!)

  • Well, I got the RNS file but the tracker isnt free and it depends on an installed version of ymVST.

  • any chance to release some ymVST patches ?

  • I'll try to put them on my website some time.

  • and what pray tell is the web adress?

  • and what pray tell is the web adress?

  • WOW!!!!!! I haven't been using Renoise for long (I can't figure it out). How do you do this! I'm just not good with the whole pattern thingy. It confuses me a ton. If you can help me out, i have sum really good ideas for chip music.

  • doe anyone Know of a pragram that has real good Keyboard sounds (not liKe band-in-a-box that has midi), so i can dial in a chord and practise?

  • Propellerheads Reason 4.0 dude.. Or use Project 5

  • i hope youre a girl because i love you.

  • You have no idea how many times I've listened to this over the past 3 days.

  • Wait i know! THIS IS ZELDA - CRUNK - NESSS!

  • Dude it's the first time i'm hearing something like that, and i'm loving it o.o

  • soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 5* for me.

  • You do not understand how this pleases me so. I am so grateful something like this exists in the world. It feels like a crack addiction or something.... Please make more, I don't think I'll ever get enough.

  • Awesome, u definatly know what your doing

  • Absolutely astonishing, amazing, awesome!!! Probably the best chiptune I've ever heard. IJs, u're genius!

I've tried to compose at least something (I'm not even talking about music) in ReNoise (v1.8). And I know that it is damn utterly hard!

  • Thanks. It requires some practice but it's certainly not the hardest thing in the world.
